    Liverpool seems to be doing something better than Manchester, by focusing more on brickwork that matches their surroundings and fit in better. The brick buildings with arches look very aesthetically pleasing. My only wish is that they wouldn't all have flat roofs. Most buildings in this video are not dominating their surroundings or screaming for attention like the huge towers in downtown Manchester. Great update, thanks!

      @AidanEyewitness  Před 25 dny +3

      Yes, that’s positive, I think the use of bricks or brick facades is good. The new apartments overlooking Wirral Waters, they have sloping roofs. Actually, I like the tall buildings in Manchester as well but let’s allow Liverpool and Manchester each do things in their own way.

    Great coverage of the ongoing builds, thank you! Strongly agree with the idea of bringing a new station to Vauxhall with all the development happening around the area there in the north of the city. If you draw a half-mile circle around all Merseyrail stations (including the planned Liverpool Baltic), you'll see quite a gap between Moorfields and Sandhills. My suggestion would be to build a station in the middle of that gap, with entrance somewhere around Upper William Street and Love Lane. Most of the land beside is already owned by Network Rail. However, planning consent has already been given to Sourced to build residential right up to the railway line here, which I worry could prevent this part of Liverpool from ever getting the rail connection it deserves.

    • @aorlanguages
      @aorlanguages Před 7 dny +1

      Thanks very interesting points. There are quite a few projects round here and the population is going to grow. I agree, construction of residential units shouldn't prevent a station from being built. I'll keep my eye on this area and will return soon.

    There are two different towers under construction in the area around Cain's brewery. One of them is in the space where the chippy was, directly next to Baltic Convenience store, which is funny because they only built it about two years ago and it's already been demolished, however the convenience store remains for now.
    The second tower is under construction in one of the carparks, however I do not know what it will be use for as it has only just started construction, and the foundation currently seems too small to be useful for fitting many people inside, but maybe the final will floor plan will end up being larger.
    What is interesting though is that you can see the remains of old brick structures underground in the spots they have dug to make the foundation.

    Excellent update on Liverpool's construction. Nice to see they are using more traditional styles in the Baltic Triangle and Hartley Locks to bring about an industrial look. The project stalled when the developer Elliott ran into financial difficulties a few years ago. They had built the concrete base of the building. Since then, it’s stayed like that, gathering rust and grime. Either they try to continue it or they just demolish what’s there and build new. That happened with a project in Manchester. If only somebody could do a proper study on the infrastructure . An architect needs to grab hold of all this random building as it is getting out of control. Refer to your maps of the past and see how it has been systematically either destroyed or dismantled. Note that the cranes on Liverpool 2 all remain idle. All cities architecture not only to build nice building but to improve flow in and out of the city, its first principles.
    The docks have been isolated and the new football ground is going to prove a nightmare. Please study the maps. M62 M57 M58 all abandoned and not completed. Railway system dismantled and built over. Rail tunnels 3 off abandoned and in danger of collapse along with the various disused rail bridges all over the city. It’s a nightmare and desperately in need of address because a lot of this old infrastructure is just rotting away and moments away from disaster.

      Yes Manchester should have had the m6 toll extension and m60 etc however alternate solutions could have been made but it didn’t happen and a ring m60 like the m25 was devised breaking into the m62 and wrecking that. Now we see the new rail link to Manchester will not be done despite destroying all the properties in advance. Liverpool on the other hand was not even seen fit to be linked at all. It’s more than obvious that Manchester Liverpool Warrington etc need to get their heads together. Andy Burnham is an excellent politician and may be he can make this happen I hope so
