  • One of my most fun shoots to date, when I got to do a "Peaky Blinders" style set of photos at Rosefield Mills - a derelict set of buildings recently acquired by the Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust. 10 people in costume, smoke bombs, coloured gels in the off-camera flashes, and a horse - what's not to love?
Special thanks to the Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust for allowing us to use the place; fellow photographers Allan Wright and Andy Jardine for the video footage; and Mark Zygadlo for helping with the smoke bombs, among his many other talents and skills

Kim -- I LOVED this video...and it sure shows what I do NOT know about lighting!

Thank you :) The main things about the lighting are 1) under expose the camera so the ambient light is no longer seen - so this means only the parts of the image lit by the flashes show up, and 2) make sure you have lights behind the smoke to get the cool effect
