Chihuly Seaforms

The Seaforms series, begun in the early 80's, represents Chihuly's push at the possibilities of glass as a medium, especially in regards to the diaphanous potential of the material. This series of work shows not only Chihuly experimenting with the dexterity of glass but also shows an artist exploring forms that are at once delicate and active. The end results are works which suggest the expressive gesture of a fluid body.

There was a TV presentation, I think on PBS, showing his work particularly the display in Venice. But in that there was a segment about the sea forms. He created a swimming pool that has a clear bottom with the glass work underneath so they appear that you could jump in a pick one up. But the clear bottom, I don't remember what it was made of, protects the glass and creates an unbelievable effect. I was hoping to find some reference to it here on CZcams but haven't seen any mention of it yet.
