But another thing I have seen from the invitational games leading to the that world cup and the group stage games in the that world cup was, Choke Reyes would simply break down in crunch time, would make wrong decisions and player rotation. We would fare really well up to the middle of the fourth quarter. Taking everything what you have said about this WC line up and their chemistry, I would still favor the Tab Baldwin mentored amateur line up + key PBA addition (Fajardo, Aguilar, Castro, Bolick, Thompson). And we say 2023 is world cup, you got to also consider, that line up would have gained more maturity, experience and chemistry. Imagine as young as they were that time, they already have played at that level and defeated those powerhouse asian teams. Months pa lang silang nag ensayo nun. Tama ka dun, actually, the point guards are the key players kung gusto umusad ng Gilas. Iba yung Jason Castro nung panahon na yan e and Prime na yung Tenorio at Alapag to lead the attack defensively and offensively. Pero kahit nung panahon na yan, alam mong dribble drive can compete but it cannot carry a team consist of small guards tulad ng Pilipinas. Sa totoo lang e mainit ngayon sa NBA and dribble drive dahil fast paced ang opensa sa current setup ng laruan ngayon pero ang guards sa NBA ay kadalasang 6'2" pataas. kaya nga sobrang sikat na ngayon ng bigs na tumitira sa tres kasi mas nakakaangat na ng depensa ang laruan nowadays dahil madalas ay sa almost lahat ng players ay kaya nang tumira ng tres or sumalaksak. KULANG talaga sa preparations at maayos na sistema... and that's what Coach Tab brought in. A system that can be played around. Pansinin nyo na kahit di pa ganun kahasa ang college players vs Serbia e sobrang efficient ng system na gamit nila? dun mo makikita na ang players ang gumagalaw sa sistema at hindi sistema ang nagpapagalaw sa players. Gabe Norwood is actually a Point Guard before he played in the PBA but was forced to play Shooting Guard, Small Forward and sometimes the 4 position due to the Philippine Basketball culture making 6'3 and taller players as Frontcourt players. 🤷🏻♂️ The dribble drive system never actually worked it's just that at that time, the players were more experienced playing the international basketball level (Asian Basketball-wise) but when the Philippines played against international teams outside the Asian region, Gilas got smacked really hard and was a non-factor during both World Cups (2014 and 2019) with only beating 1 team in the tournament. The whole Basketball culture itself has to change and not just the National team. Young Basketball players (before playing high school Basketball) should all be trained some post moves, drills for guards, shooting drills, following a very organized system and stop giving players a "superstar" mentality where they only let 1 or 2 players take all the spotlight. Basketball is played with 5 players on the court and not a one man show, same goes with actually using the bench players to further develop multiple talented players and other players with potential. With this, players who were short during their younger years can play any position if they will end up growing taller and the same goes with the tall players that barely grew an inch. The amateur basketball (varsity of both High school and collegiate level) should get rid of that ridiculous "needs to have 1 year residency" shenanigans (similar to the U.S. not having that rule) The PBA and the MPBL should allow amateurs and College players to turn Pro as early as possible to develop players as young as possible 🤷🏻♂️ just like outside the Philippines (especially in Europe) instead of having them waste a lot years playing against the same low-quality level of amateurs. Like the saying goes "a person gets better he/she faces tougher trials/competition". Both the PBA and MPBL (or any future Pro-level Basketball leagues) should create a grassroots or a junior division (OR an academy) that will that will train young kids to be part of their organization as Pro candidates. If it's possible, get rid of the POLITICS within Philippine Basketball (especially in the PBA and the National teams's management) The national team should hire competent and competitive coaches who are battle-tested when it comes to coaching in FIBA tournaments (my suggestion is to hire European coaches, they are the best when it comes to FIBA) Since the Philippine Basketball is system relying on Filipinos who are living outside the country (especially Filipino Americans) try to scout players as young as possible BEFORE they turn 15 so a passport requirement for FIBA's rule (messed up rule). The PBA should adapt the 1 tournament/cup per season to lift the heavy load of the adjusting their time just to play for the National Team and the PBA and MPBL should allow more foreign players and coaches to boost the level of competition. The PBA should expand more teams and if it is possible, no more game fixing and politics between SMC teams and MVP teams. No more height restrictions for the MPBL Both leagues should allow at least 3 imports per team. Get rid of the weird ruling of PBA's Filipino with multiple citizenships restrictions. No more farm teams, make both leagues more competitive. Change both PBA and MPBL to adapt with FIBA game rules and system so by the time National team plays FIBA-sanctioned tournaments, it will be easy for players and coaches to adjust. Pick players to join the National team who are actually worthy enough and not just players who are favorites of the coaches and the management. NO MORE LIES. Have a longer period of preparation for the national team. Sponsor players who are good enough to play in Europe. In that way, the Philippines will have players who can match the European level of Pro Basketball. Abolish the silly incompetent Basketball federation of the Philippines and create a wiser and formidable association. Stakeholders and Pro leagues across the Asia and Oceania region to form a Euroleague and Basketball Champions League style of competition. With this league, a lot of development could happen facing tougher competition on a yearly basis. Do NOT restrict players from playing overseas as Pros. And most of all, pray to GOD that this will happen because the level of Philippine basketball has not change at all.

Coach Chot Kasi Full Time Sya nung 2014 ngayon he's juggling about TNT and Gilas. Kaya minsan yung prep time, medyo Naapektuhan. Kailangan talaga ng mga full time personnel but I don't know why SBP is using the same system all over again.

Good video but I have to disagree about a few things. DDO they used was effective only because the other nations did not know our system yet, once the good teams like greece scouted it gilas couldn't compete. The players were still doing their one on one but they were better scorers and shooters. Like in Argentina game, it was just a pick on top that made jimmy open. Without jimmys 3s it would have been a 10 pt loss. At the end when they needed to score they just let castro go one on one no plays so no score. Blatche was very good and gave us the offense we needed. So the system of choke has never been good, it was the players that made it good. The defensive consultant was Tab at that time. They had months of international practice but still dependent on one on one end game plays. And lastly I think Tabs young gilas will defeat this team due to his system. Choke beat korea once in MOA Tabs team beat korea 2x no fans. We all know Tabs system works with the pinoys limitations. Choke archaic coaching system and style and foul mouth doesn't work even with clarkson and Kai especially with 1 week practice. Maybe no practice since tnt is still alive for the finals. I week before the games choke will say he cant coach and will give it to nenad lol. Poor gilas. And also remember after the worlds in sevilla the next year they played fiba asia and was 7 or 9th place only with a big let down tourney. Partially agreed…. But remember, all teams has a one on one good players. We have castro at that time who is really one of the best player given his size and height. The DDO was really good when you know where is your spot and passing lane. But one problem woth gilas right now, they do not know where to pass, where to position and became one on one all time which is not effective because they are not that good. See how jimmy uses the screen everytime he plays. That is IQ, adjusting to what the defense gave you. If you see coach tab system, it is really good because of passing, execution, but think of it, if they dont know where to go? Will it be effective? Ofcourse no. The ball moves so fast and that their passing is on point because they know where their teammate will be. In the defensive side, marc pingris and rdo really rotates. They are well undersized, but if you watch what coach Tab said, ping and rdo makes other players better! They know how and when to set screen, they know when they will be a decoy where rdo’s 3 are open. So yeah, Coach Tab’s system is one of the best, and their defensive scheme and one on one is still needed especially a broken play, but not the way we see right now where everything is a broken play!!! LOL..

The bottom line is need talaga ng PRACTICE, whether DDO or CTBaldwin's system. But I'll prefer CTB, especially sa mga crucial and crunch time na. Under Reyes subok na walang adjustments during the game pag crucial unlike pag may sistema and plays kayo na sinusunod at ini-execute.

But another thing I have seen from the invitational games leading to the that world cup and the group stage games in the that world cup was, Choke Reyes would simply break down in crunch time, would make wrong decisions and player rotation. We would fare really well up to the middle of the fourth quarter.
Taking everything what you have said about this WC line up and their chemistry, I would still favor the Tab Baldwin mentored amateur line up + key PBA addition (Fajardo, Aguilar, Castro, Bolick, Thompson). And we say 2023 is world cup, you got to also consider, that line up would have gained more maturity, experience and chemistry. Imagine as young as they were that time, they already have played at that level and defeated those powerhouse asian teams. Months pa lang silang nag ensayo nun.

I lean on using amateur players, also due to their availability to train and play. Amateur players are easier to coach (smaller ego) and the amateur players are more accustomed to amateur rules if the WC.

Pansinin nyo na kahit di pa ganun kahasa ang college players vs Serbia e sobrang efficient ng system na gamit nila? dun mo makikita na ang players ang gumagalaw sa sistema at hindi sistema ang nagpapagalaw sa players. Gabe Norwood is actually a Point Guard before he played in the PBA but was forced to play Shooting Guard, Small Forward and sometimes the 4 position due to the Philippine Basketball culture making 6'3 and taller players as Frontcourt players. 🤷🏻♂️
The dribble drive system never actually worked it's just that at that time, the players were more experienced playing the international basketball level (Asian Basketball-wise) but when the Philippines played against international teams outside the Asian region, Gilas got smacked really hard and was a non-factor during both World Cups (2014 and 2019) with only beating 1 team in the tournament. The whole Basketball culture itself has to change and not just the National team.
Young Basketball players (before playing high school Basketball) should all be trained some post moves, drills for guards, shooting drills, following a very organized system and stop giving players a "superstar" mentality where they only let 1 or 2 players take all the spotlight. Basketball is played with 5 players on the court and not a one man show, same goes with actually using the bench players to further develop multiple talented players and other players with potential. With this, players who were short during their younger years can play any position if they will end up growing taller and the same goes with the tall players that barely grew an inch.
The amateur basketball (varsity of both High school and collegiate level) should get rid of that ridiculous "needs to have 1 year residency" shenanigans (similar to the U.S. not having that rule)
The PBA and the MPBL should allow amateurs and College players to turn Pro as early as possible to develop players as young as possible 🤷🏻♂️ just like outside the Philippines (especially in Europe) instead of having them waste a lot years playing against the same low-quality level of amateurs. Like the saying goes "a person gets better he/she faces tougher trials/competition".
Both the PBA and MPBL (or any future Pro-level Basketball leagues) should create a grassroots or a junior division (OR an academy) that will that will train young kids to be part of their organization as Pro candidates.
If it's possible, get rid of the POLITICS within Philippine Basketball (especially in the PBA and the National teams's management)
The national team should hire competent and competitive coaches who are battle-tested when it comes to coaching in FIBA tournaments (my suggestion is to hire European coaches, they are the best when it comes to FIBA)
Since the Philippine Basketball is system relying on Filipinos who are living outside the country (especially Filipino Americans) try to scout players as young as possible BEFORE they turn 15 so a passport requirement for FIBA's rule (messed up rule).
The PBA should adapt the 1 tournament/cup per season to lift the heavy load of the adjusting their time just to play for the National Team and the PBA and MPBL should allow more foreign players and coaches to boost the level of competition.
The PBA should expand more teams and if it is possible, no more game fixing and politics between SMC teams and MVP teams.
No more height restrictions for the MPBL
Both leagues should allow at least 3 imports per team.
Get rid of the weird ruling of PBA's Filipino with multiple citizenships restrictions.
No more farm teams, make both leagues more competitive.
Change both PBA and MPBL to adapt with FIBA game rules and system so by the time National team plays FIBA-sanctioned tournaments, it will be easy for players and coaches to adjust.
Pick players to join the National team who are actually worthy enough and not just players who are favorites of the coaches and the management.
NO MORE LIES.
Have a longer period of preparation for the national team.
Sponsor players who are good enough to play in Europe. In that way, the Philippines will have players who can match the European level of Pro Basketball.
Abolish the silly incompetent Basketball federation of the Philippines and create a wiser and formidable association.
Stakeholders and Pro leagues across the Asia and Oceania region to form a Euroleague and Basketball Champions League style of competition. With this league, a lot of development could happen facing tougher competition on a yearly basis.
Do NOT restrict players from playing overseas as Pros.
And most of all, pray to GOD that this will happen because the level of Philippine basketball has not change at all.

Coach Chot Kasi Full Time Sya nung 2014 ngayon he's juggling about TNT and Gilas. Kaya minsan yung prep time, medyo Naapektuhan. Kailangan talaga ng mga full time personnel but I don't know why SBP is using the same system all over again.
Kaya nga ayaw ni Tab na mahahati ang kanyang atensyon. Sabi nga niya mag ateneo na siya para makafocus. Di gaya ni choke na di naman dalawa ang katawan pero pinipilit pa rin. Resign na lang sana si choke sa national team at focus na lang siya sa tnt

Good video but I have to disagree about a few things. DDO they used was effective only because the other nations did not know our system yet, once the good teams like greece scouted it gilas couldn't compete. The players were still doing their one on one but they were better scorers and shooters. Like in Argentina game, it was just a pick on top that made jimmy open. Without jimmys 3s it would have been a 10 pt loss. At the end when they needed to score they just let castro go one on one no plays so no score. Blatche was very good and gave us the offense we needed. So the system of choke has never been good, it was the players that made it good. The defensive consultant was Tab at that time. They had months of international practice but still dependent on one on one end game plays. And lastly I think Tabs young gilas will defeat this team due to his system. Choke beat korea once in MOA Tabs team beat korea 2x no fans. We all know Tabs system works with the pinoys limitations. Choke archaic coaching system and style and foul mouth doesn't work even with clarkson and Kai especially with 1 week practice. Maybe no practice since tnt is still alive for the finals. I week before the games choke will say he cant coach and will give it to nenad lol. Poor gilas. And also remember after the worlds in sevilla the next year they played fiba asia and was 7 or 9th place only with a big let down tourney. All bec of bulok basketball kalye system of stupid coach. very frustrating to watch after sleepless nights watching gilas 1.0 up to 2015 fiba asia conquer of iran jordan and japan with an undermaned team with asi lol. we know lolo delfin is the way to go. Problem is if another rich asian country gets his services will he refuse it after all of this politics?

Partially agreed…. But remember, all teams has a one on one good players. We have castro at that time who is really one of the best player given his size and height. The DDO was really good when you know where is your spot and passing lane. But one problem woth gilas right now, they do not know where to pass, where to position and became one on one all time which is not effective because they are not that good. See how jimmy uses the screen everytime he plays. That is IQ, adjusting to what the defense gave you. If you see coach tab system, it is really good because of passing, execution, but think of it, if they dont know where to go? Will it be effective? Ofcourse no. The ball moves so fast and that their passing is on point because they know where their teammate will be. In the defensive side, marc pingris and rdo really rotates. They are well undersized, but if you watch what coach Tab said, ping and rdo makes other players better! They know how and when to set screen, they know when they will be a decoy where rdo’s 3 are open. So yeah, Coach Tab’s system is one of the best, and their defensive scheme and one on one is still needed especially a broken play, but not the way we see right now where everything is a broken play!!! LOL..
What a disrespect of calling one of your own, one of the best coaches your country has to offer certain names. Dude had one of if not the best showing the country's ever had in it's history of international basketball campaign and still underappreciated and almost ridiculed like that. Wtf. Yes they know better that is why they have the job, the problem is there are still other people who most the filipino see better whoever is in their position right now. Everybody is proud when team philippine wins, and you are right, that we should not expect too much, but the problem again is that, you know the country has far more better players than before but they cannot utilize all of them. Everybody knows that the young talents also need security for the future so they need to do what they need to do. The main problem here is POLITICS in the system and among our country men. Pag nanalo pilipinas ng may import, di daw masyadong maganda kasi di puro pinoy. Kung alam nyo lng, genetics plng, lamang na ibang bansa. Facility, pera n pasweldo sa players, kulang. Kapag coach di pilipino, pangit din daw. So madaming factors, pero as a filipino, sana ung best ang dalhin sa tournament di un sino sino lng n pwede. Tapos preparation ilan weeks lng? The bottom line is need talaga ng PRACTICE, whether DDO or CTBaldwin's system. But I'll prefer CTB, especially sa mga crucial and crunch time na. Under Reyes subok na walang adjustments during the game pag crucial unlike pag may sistema and plays kayo na sinusunod at ini-execute.

Effective tlga ung dribble drive lalo kung hindi familiar sa gameplay ung opponent tpos hindi lng sa may tira sa 3 pero legit shooter tlaga dangerous, very dangerous. Nakakahatak tlga nang defense ung mga slasher kpag nagdrive na tpos kick sa wingside ung bola then sure 3 ang outcome. Un at un lng din tlga un play nila.
