Please note this is two songs! The first, jazz instrumental is “Don’t want you no more” by Eddie Hardin and Spencer Davis. Then it wraps, beautifully into “Not my cross to bear” by the brothers

I have listened to the Allman Brothers for over 50 years. They are my favorite. The blonde guy Derek is the nephew of 1 of the drummers. I think you did very well with your comments. It was great seeing your reaction to their incredible music. I am fortunate to have seen them with the original lineup with Duane Allman and Berry Oakley before they passed away. Thank you very much for this video it really started my day off great ❤️

You are a lucky man. I missed the Duane Era by two years. Dickie was incredible and Greg had such a great blues voice that I saw them five times in total.

This is the last incarnation of the Allman Brothers, which lasted about 14-15 years
The original group with Duane, Allman, and Barry Oakley is the best you really want to get into at the Fillmore East you’ll hear some of the greatest guitar work you’ll ever hear in your life. The original band with the two drummers before they added the percussionist many years later , they never played the same thing. The black dude was a jazz drummer. The white dude was a rock drummer and they filled each other with perfection. All their stuff with the band being together a total of 45 years is great. I’ve seen them 15 times over the decades, still the best band I’ve ever seen all great musicians in every incarnation of the band

I was 14 when I saw them in 1969 in Sarasota at the City Auditorium.
Had never heard of them and after about a half of a song (Don't Want You No More) I was freaking out over how good this already is and realized," this is as good as it gets". This will be the best band I'm ever going to see. And I've seen Elvis, Zeppelin, Aero, G&R, Bowie, only Steely Dan were as good.

Me too, been listening since the debut album came out in 1969, I still remember my friend buying it the week of release after hearing about it on the radio, we crammed 6 of us in his bedroom and put it on, we were blown away by their new southern rock sound merged with twin guitar and twin drum excellence. Please listen to the studio original sometime, with a young Gregg Allman growling out those vocals and the original 2 guitarists (legends Duane Allman and Dickie Betts) are still in the band. The original band should be a no brainer when you can, do the song you just heard and their classic Whipping Post when you can, you will be a fan for life one you do. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶

Derek Trucks, the young guitarist playing the SG (red guitar with horns) was 17 years old here I think. He was a guest musician at the time and later was a member of the band. He's an incredible guitarist. He's also in The Derek Trucks band (obv) and Tedeschi Trucks band.

And you haven’t heard the original band! Oh these young members (sons) are great, and have much of the original sound, but…you must hear Dickie Betts in the original group! The Allman Brothers could harmonize guitars like no band ever. And their two awesome drummers, and Duane and Greg Allman. All played 😅n that greatest-ever concert album, Live at Fillmore East.
Note that the Allman Brothers played the happiest tunes ever heard in the radio. One was “Jessica”, a celebration of Dickie’s 1 year old daughter, live version linked below. The other three are their most famous song, “Ramblin’ Man” and the sweetest song ever, “Blue Skies”. “Soulshine” is a great spiritual. Thank you Sabina, you are wonderful!

The Allman Brothers were a solid blues-based band and created some fabulous music. In the same vein, I'd like to suggest that you check out the man called "the greatest guitarist you've never heard of", the legendary Rory Gallagher. Rory passed up the opportunity to join the Rolling Stones, choosing to continue playing the blues music he loved and doing it the way he wanted-in smaller venues to make a connection with his audience. Try checking out "I Wonder Who" performed in 1984 in Belfast for an introduction to his music. Thanks.

When it comes to the ABB, I am somewhat of a purist for the original line-up. But this, probably more than 30 years later, was admitedly great. I think that the talent of DT gave it that extra feel that only Duane also had and it put them one notch above everybody else.

Sad back story: the brothers Greg - vocals and keyboard and Duane - guitar, had a fight over who stole the others weed. Just after the fight, Duane got on his motorcycle and was killed on road accident.
Years later, surviving brother greg wrote a memoir of his life and expressed remorse that his last memory of his brother was that they were in anger of each other. He dedicated his memoir to his brother , entitling it “My Cross to Bear”

I think short comments are fine it's not to distracting for me after all we're all here to see what you think about these great bands from the past that you have never heard before. I think typing in the comments had to be very time consuming for you. I'd rather have more reactions with verbal comments and maybe a few more thoughts at the end, than you spending your precious time adding them at a later time.
But like some other comments that i read I'll watch either way.
This is a concert that was recorded later in their career and Gregg has lost a bit of his ummph in his vocals. I'm not saying it was bad but in his earlier years it was alot cleaner.

The thing that solidifies it for me is most of this version of the ABB have been playing AND recording together for almost 30 years, way longer than the original members not to mention the fact that Gregg a founding member played and lead the band for the whole time.
