VOLA - NAPALM (Bass playthrough by Nicolai Mogensen) - Hudba
More bass playthroughs please! Nicolai's tone is a big reason why Vola are as good and I feel not many recognize this!
his tone is fantastic.
YES
Even if it's a sound by Helix and some plug-ins, wonder how to create this sound by amp-rig plus fat cabinet.
What about some pics of your live rig and gear 😉?
Nicolai and Asger both have such sick tones
It's a warwick bass, of course the tone is amazing!
I didn't realise Napalm had such a killer bassline. I love this song even more now.
Exactly the same for me!
So do I
+1! This mix sounds actually waaay more groovey!
seconded for sure, I loved all the nuances in that last chorus
you need new listening equipment!
Witness album is a Masterpiece. Can't wait to hear the new Album 💖
Badass and humble bass player. Nicolai reminds me of Jerry Cantrell from AIC. After watching the Live from the Pool gig I was impressed about how important his backing vocals within the wall of sound he builds with Asger. Hats off, you guys are incredible!
1000% yes
You know when someone ask you what your favorite band is and how hard that answer would be to answer.. well... Vola is definitely the only answer I can give
That band no needs drums. Fantástico.
makes me wanna buy a bass and start playing
That bendy riff feels like a classic Inmazes moment 😻
One of the best prog metal bands going, just utterly original and beautiful music.
Can't stop listening to this damn record
We are happy to hear that!
Man the bass is even better than I thought, more pls
I was in such a creative drought, and this band has brought me back to life. Amazing music guys!
That bendy part of the song lives rent free in my head since you guys put the song out!
You can hear how well you and Adam fit together in the chorus on this one, you've got these bass-driven lines during the verses and then they drop back into letting the soaring guitars, keys and vocals lead for the chorus but underneath that is this perfectly on point rhythm section keeping it all moving underneath. Great to see it highlighted in this playthrough.
I've just seen there's a Head Mounted Sideways bass playthrough and Adam's drums on that are devastating, this should be good. If you'll excuse me...
the riff at 3:08 is so DAMN GOOD!
Yeah man, it put a big smile on my face. I was diggin that.
Fr tho this is the part I always look forward to with this song it doesn't miss
You have made me want to buy a 5 string bass man, for real I gotta learn to play a bass like that.
What a diverse composition! It looks fun to play. Love how he alternates between driving the verses and filling the holes in the chorus until that epic solo leading into the final chorus where he goes full ham.
How is this band not more popular
Kick ass Nicolai! Tone sounds killer, I love the section with all the bends, awesome playthrough man! Looking forward to more off Witness!
Beautiful. I have listened to Vola almost everyday since discovering them. Amazing bass tone dude!!
first time I've heard Napalm, another banger VOLA!
Amazing job from Nicolai, as always! His bass lines are crucial for achieving that signature Vola sound that we love!
I love how this song is just a big Bass and synth highlight. Really awesome stuff here.
I love this band. You guys have a very unique style.
Man, I freaking love this band so much. The new album is incredible.
Man i am excited to see these guys the 15 th Dec
Almost forgot to watch this today. EPIC!!!
Sick sound and great bassline
Best track on the best album I’ve heard so far in 2021!
Your bass playthrough of ‘Napalm’ is pure perfection Nicolai! 🎸🔥 This has me tempted to bring out my own bass. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent! 🎶
You're such a great inspiration man!
Awesome sound and love your taste in riffing 🤘❤️
You guys are amazing! Just discovered Vola about a month ago. Been listening to the album non-stop!!
Awesome
Please more bass playthrough! Nicolai is an amazing player!
The rhythms and tones on display here are why VOLA is a must listen on decent speakers. Holy shit.
open backed headphones :)
Klipsch forte iii speakers paired with a window shaking subwoofer is my link to the music , can't get enough of it.
Thats a dope track.
Genius #Nicolai's Universal Attack Tone!!!
Such an epic play through. I've been sending my mates everything I can get my hands on
Go Greyjoy!!!
I just discovered this band last week!!! There awesome great tone and melodies. I am hooked
When @3:06 hits and the groove is so good you pause what your doing to enjoy this moment. ❤️
This makes me wanna see y’all colab with Karnivool
woow, so clean!
Thank you for uploading this, my favorite track on the album! Love your bass playing and tone on the whole album!
I didn’t know Theon Greyjoy could play bass this good!
Love your bass tone. Also, those bends really thicken up the feel of that bridge riff.
u know i am a simple man - i see VOLA i press like :D
That bass is soo thick bro 🖤
Amazing playing and writing Nicolai! The bass has it's own voice as well as supporting the song in the best way possible :)
95 new like I love it so beautiful play through I love these melodies so marvellous. I've enjoyed it. 😍😍😍😌😌😌🎸🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏❤❤
You guys are definitely my favorite band I've found this year!

Awesome ! Great songs
LOVE that tone!! excellent!
I love this band. I love each part of it. I love the creativity. May they continue to put out amazing tunes. I'll keep practicing but I doubt I'll be as flawless playing this bass line as Nicolai makes it look.
Sick! Such a wicked tone.
That was awesome
Good stuff!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Incredible!
So good!!
So good! Love that bass sound too 🙌
Very nice
Great tone and playing, thanks for your music.
Soo freaking good ❤️
Such an awesome song. Well done Vola.
Love this, love the band, love the music.
Goosebumps dude
(From France) Love your music... and your bass lines (first thing i noticed first time i listened to VOLA). Your music is such a big emotional trip. Thank you so much. Hope to see you soon on stage. 👏🏻😱😍
Nice!
Grooviest f***in riffs every time. I love you guys.
This is so ridiculously good.
Rocker som vanlig Nicolai! Fet man feeeeet 😎
Very talented!
Theon Greyjoy is killing it!
You're too good man! :D
THAT BASS. Fucking awesome man
a lot of bands of djent, djont and thall might release "instrumental" versions of music. But I'd like a Vola drums&bass mix only. And I'm saying that as a guitarist first, bass player second.
I
0 dislikes. Nice. As it should be.
There's 1 now 😕
I admire the faith you have for your kids not to destroy the audio equipment xD
❤
Baixo monstro
1:15 Seamless!
Finally, a band that does everything in f#
F#cking wow.
I am a beginner guitarist, but after seeing this i want to also become a bassist.
Beautiful playthrough. What cab are you emulating?
Love that sound. Is that a Whal bass?
Killer bass line. However, seeing this made me realize that I miss your vocal harmonies on the latest album. I don't know if it's the mix or my ears, but I can only hear layered vocals of Ansgar.
I have never sung backing vocals on any vola album, I only do it live, because Asger adds so many vocal harmonies:)
background: Am I a music recording room or a children's bedroom?
With suiting equipment, this does not count any longer. Days seem over for big rigs or Combos which I am used to.
at this moment there is 800's likes and only 1 dislike. maybe this guy is lead guitarist. ;)
🤙
Absolutely epic riffing, brother!! Your playing, your sound/tone, and definitely your backing vocals are such a massive part of what makes VOLA the most unique and gripping band out there. Love you guys. Keep shelling out the bangers!!!!
this is Theon Greyjoy?
Thank you Nikolai for this Clip. It answers two of my questions for this great Song - 1- you keep playing 32th with the Double Bass drum, and 2- you really add the high notes to the guitar's "Djent notes". Is 2- something you do so in all songs? Not only pushing the deep notes of the g's riffs, but also kind of glancing the high ones? Didn't expect this.
Anyway - great work, great distorted sound from Helix, great song. Very great Band you Guys 😍
I dont play the high notes in all riffs, but a lot of the times I do:)
🇧🇷🇧🇷🤟🏽🤟🏽
i've never tuned a bass UP in pitch before, but goddamn does this sound awesome. i was seriously closing my eyes as i tightened the strings in case the whole neck exploded. the tuning heads were getting tough to turn on the last two strings. ;)
Yea it can be a bit scary at first:) I recommend using light gauge strings for this. Mine are 100-40 on the top 4 strings
@@volaband that probably helps a little bit with that bendy bridge section as well! i'll try the 95-40 extra slinky set. thanks! =)
@@jopezu Yea it makes the bends easier but also gives a brighter tone overall which I find works well in our music:)
