Future Greenway

This film is being shown as part of a group show, Returning, at Sligo's Hyde Bridge Gallery during 3rd to 27th October 2020. Future Greenway comprised 20 photographic prints (included in film), text and the film itself. It tries to raise awareness of a disused railway between Collooney, Co. Sligo and Claremorris, Co. Mayo (Western Rail Corridor) and a plan to turn it into a greenway. There is also a more dystopian view to the work (reflected most obviously in the film) which imagines a future greening of the planet if humanity cannot find a way to live in harmony with nature. I’m presuming this ‘Greenway’ will facilitate rambling and cycling - sounds good - but will greening over the old railway (as opposed to rebuilding it) reduce car use and road-building?
