I aways enjoyed this era in rallying. We came out of the mighty group B times into the group A with lots of different makes and models mixing it, but then the Sierra cosworth started to rule the roost in most rallies.
I think I was spoilt. I saw rallying in the late 60s, all through the 70s, 80s and 90s and some of the 2000s.
Today I just go out and watch historic rallying. Its just nice to see these old cars being rallied at full chat and sideways.

OPEL VAUXHALL MANTAS WERE MYTHICAL CARS.EVEN WITH THE SIERRAS AND AUDIS 4WHELL DRIVE... THEY DIDNT CARE ABOUT IT. The engines were literally bullet proff and very heavy.

Steve Rider mentioned that it wasn't a pace note rally and that the co-drivers were given a road boo so the co-drivers were being paid for saying next to nothing!

I co drove this event, and notes were not allowed on UK events at that time. It was actually an advantage for us British co drivers because we often did map only "blind" rallies, unlike the mainland European guys. The British 1/25000 maps were (and still are) very detailed, and a decent co driver could provide lots of information to the driver.
