They watched the Nordiques leave for Colorado, watched the Jets leave for Phoenix. Watched the league expand to 32 teams from 21 (with 7 teams 30% chance of winning the cup) and watch 2 teams leave the country. Granted we got two back now with the return of the Jets and Ottawa. Gretzky got traded for Cash. (Sold) Oilers were almost sold to a Houston Billionaire. A group of like 30 local businesses men pooled their money to match the offer and keep the team. Its our sport. Our cup. Most of the NHL players are Canadian. But it's really hard to compete with A larger richer country. So yes, Canadians do get patriotic about a canadian team winning the Cup.

Nope - I think a lot of Leaf fans will cheer due to McDavid (he's from there) and Hyman who's also from there, played there, and is still beloved there. Don't think Drury deserves too much criticism... if trouba and blue line situation remains the same by next year, then we can start pointing the finger to the top. Keep: Fox, Lingren, Miller, Snyder, and give Jones a consistent role. Get rid of: Trouba, wenberg, rosolvic, kakko, and wheeler. Give the C to Trochek, give 11 mill to shesterkin, give ottman a place on the 3rd line with Goodrow and vesey. Build a bruiser 4th line around Rempe, and get Vitrano from the Ducks for the 1st line. This is what I would do to stay under the cap and make the Rangers a better playoff team. We need more grit and better board play to go up against Florida in the future.

how can you congratulate American hockey and say they are on the rise for winning the Memorial Cup, when its pretty much all Canadian players on the roster, Canadian coach, Canadian GM .... its like you know nothing about the actuality of the sport.... same with pretty much EVERY Stanley Cup winner based in a US city. Basically, a Canadian team wins the cup every year. Americans have been saying they're catching up for the last 50 years ... Numbers ain't everything, they will always lack that extra juice and talent that a Canadian naturally has. But 2nd best is still an achievement for Americans... ;-)

There's a reason why a team from Florida has been in what will now be 5 consecutive SCF's. Pushing the smaller market. Panthers have no real fan base. Look at Rangers series, their home games looked like MSG. More blue shirts than red. Give them a Cup and that'll change. It happened with Tampa.

America has produced some good players recently, including the league leader in goals Auston "Papi" Matthews. You also have the Tkachuk boys in Florida and Ottawa. Dylan Larkin, Patrick Kane, Chris Kreider, Gaudreau, DeBrincat, etc.

ESPN and NHL Network had multiple analysts saying the Panthers wouldn’t make the playoffs this year because of Detroit and Buffalo. No shocker here
