Donna Loren in her original performance of "It Only Hurts When I Cry" from the classic AIP film "Beach Blanket Bingo". The song was written by Guy Hemric and Jerry Styner and produced by Al Simms and Tutti Camarata.
Donna has recently renovated and rejuvenated this, her signature song, into a sultry, grown-up 21st century pop tune. Originally performed by Donna as a teenager in the film and again recorded for the LP of the same name, she has now reinterpreted the song as an adult, with style and intimacy. Be sure to see the new video of this classic: • Donna Loren - "It Only... .
In August 2009 Donna released a new album entitled MAGIC -The 80s Collection containing the best of her work in the 80s. The CD can be purchased on her website at: www.DonnaLoren.com. This Enchanced CD includes a bonus video of a rare performance in Tokyo in 1984.
Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like Batman, The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows. In the 60's she released 22 singles and an LP. Her latest CD entitled "Love It Away" is her first new music in decades. Hear it at DonnaLoren.com. Watch a 2009 video here: • Donna Loren - "It Only...

This song makes me realize how underrated Donna was. She had a great voice, and has to be one of the cutest girls of all time. I'm sure glad these clips are still around.
Michael Hammer That's True and What Happens a Year Later ? She Makes a Two Part Appearance as Sweet Susie ''The Cheerleader '' in Season 1. Episodes 15 & 16 : The Joker Goes to School to He Meets His Match, The Grisly Ghoul in The Batman 1966 TV Series...
Very nice lady, besides great talent and beyond gorgeous lady, dr pepper commercials legendary
@@lloydkline6946 I was about 11-12 yrs old and when I saw Donna Loren on Dr. PEPPER commercials, I remember asking myself, who is that pretty girl?
@@anthonylovavto3228 donna loren was a super gorgeous teenager, she was in batman 1966 tv episode
I don't know about fields, 40 million when she retired and had over a hundred songs. Not to mention she was an honorary musketeer, she started her career at 7 years old and did modeling as well
A very underrated, singer and beautiful woman
I'm 14 and I love this stuff. Thx mom for the old stuff she shows us...:)
Means you have good taste in music
how does being 20 feel?
@@ams2917 Ancient, oof
This should have been a Top Ten hit. I love this song.
should have been more popular than it was, I agree
I love her looks...…….…….
Well said,Nan..class,beauty,talented strong voice..shes 1 of my favorites from that era..(I was born in 1962)..shes sorely missed at this address.....thank God for CZcams!👍Donna lives on!!!
Lots of great 🎵 songsdid not make top ten stuff it depends how much it played on air
@@wolfedavid3700 her 1960s beauty, one of the prettiest women ever plus ❤ her acting talents
DONNA IS STILL SO BEAUTIFUL. AND STILL
SINGS. God bless you DONNA. I LOVE you.
I forgot To say thank you so much God-bless your friend Robert Isidore.
Donna Loren is amazing. What a voice.
I watched Beach Blanket Bingo the other day. Donna really stood out. She had such a pretty voice and was so pretty.
I was born in 2002 but I dream of living in 60s'.
Teens of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50’s were cool too. Just don’t find a lot of video footage.
As someone who was also born in the 2000’s, I wish of being a kid in the 60’s and a young adult in the 80’s
I born in 1967
It was so special...
Dude, you missed it. I was born in 57 and the 60's were awesome..
Great, wonderful memories!!
Unfortunately, this version only exists in the film. Her record release of this is an overheated production much like a PJ Proby record. Had this been the release, it surely would have been a hit for her.
AI should allow someone to remaster this and release it.
The best of all the beach movies and the best song from the beach films
I was 8 years old when I saw "Beach Blanket Bingo" at the theater. Donna Loren was my "Schoolboy Crush" as I used to look for her in the beach party movies and on tv. I love this song as well as her version of "New Love" from the same film. I think I'm still carrying a torch!
It's hard to believe that she's going to be 70 this year.
So i put on TCM after work yesterday and Beach Blanket Bingo is on.My wife is working late so i leave it on and start making dinner, suddenly i'm struck by an Angel on the screen! I stopped what i was doing and stood there amazed by her beutiful singing voice and stunning good looks. Why she wasn't the biggest thing to come out of the 60s is beyond me.I'm a new fan and i hope her music is still available on CD somewhere.
I have her vinyl album with all the beach party movie songs on it. I bought it way back in 1965. It is in mint condition. I never understood why Donna wasn't another Connie Francis. Very pretty and a great voice!
I miss the 60's...
Donna Loren had (and still has) the pipes. For such a petite girl, she has a very powerful and soaring voice. One of the most gifted vocalists of the entire 60's decade, and one of the most gorgeous Drive-In Queens Ever. She was comparable in the early 1960's decade to what Ariana Grande is in contemporary times.
Ariana Grande could never compete with Donna Loren's warmth & stage presence.
Ariana us a brown slut
She was also known as the Dr Pepper Girl, up until '68. I think her involvement in the Beach Party movies were all arranged through Dr Pepper.
Ariana Grande does resemble Donna Loren!
She is Italian, what do you mean by brown?
Donna is so gorgeous
Just beautiful. Brings back fond memories!
Great voice. And very pretty lady. Thanks for posting.
Donna Loren really takes me back to the 60s and the great love songs of my youth...so moving...so beautiful...such a great voice. Simply put...she's gorgeous!! Why do we have to get old??
what a joyous yet melancholy feeling this song always gives me. seriously, why was this song not #1 on the charts that year? ♥️🐜
This movie came on tv a few years back and my nana recorded it for us because she thought we would like it. Fast forward to me being almost 15 and still absolutely in love with this movie!
Donna is awesome! What a beautiful voice and she was such a beauty too. Love this scene. Thanks for sharing it with us so we can enjoy it.............once again.
Well she’s very very pretty I’m glad they got all these film clips of her I can watch my time I want
LOVED THE BEACH MOVIES! They were FABULOUS. I have them all on DVD and I pull them out when I have an extended weekend and watch as I reminisce about much fun, entertainment and joy these movies brought to me and many others. My friends and I would gather after school to each General Hospital, The Edge of Night and the 4:30 movie on ABC. When it was Frankie & Annette week it was a huge party. Loved the characters, songs, storylines and the overall beach theme. I remember Donna, the late Dick Dale singing those incredible songs. Guest Stars like Paul Lynne, Linda Evans, Keenan Wynn, Don Rickles, Dorothy Malone, Vince Price, Bela Lagose, Bob Cummings, Buster Crabbe, Morley Amsterdam, and I totally Loved Harvey Lembeck as Eric Von Zipper. GREAT, GREAT MOVIES as well an ERA in time.
Whilst many boys were launching their pre-pubescent longings for Annette, I always loved Donna.
Fifty-three years later and I still love this song.
I think this version is far better than the studio recording
This song so good.
LOVE THIS MOVIE LOVE THESE SONGS!!!!
I love this song I only discovered it when I got my neighbour to
videotape every beach movie they played for some of the big stars like James brown
the Supremes but out of all of them this song really stands out
This is my favorite song by Donna,it is a love story, and moving with such a high range of voice, that you want to stop, look, and listen to her, while you have deep passion for her as a woman,as she is entertaining you.
I remember watching that when I was little kid at the drive-in theater a long time ago not fought that was cool watching in it then all the Beach Blanket Bingo and Frankie Avalon and all that I love the heck out of all that that's good just to watch it again that brings back a lot of memories God bless them all
The best voice ever, love her.
Great pipes Donna, only 18 when she did this movie, glad you're still with us. She retired from the business in 1968 to raise a family. Restarted her career in the late 80's.
Best song and best movie of the AIP beach series.
Such a beautiful song thanks so Donna Loren 😊❤
Very possibly the best girl group style song in any of the Beach Party flicks (and the two with Linda Evans lip synching to Robin Ward's vocals are pretty damn great too)...unfortunately her 1965 rerecording isn't anywhere as good...but this is the one that made me want to hear more Donna, in any event...
Wow, Annette Funicello is seen walking on the beach in the last second of this video. I had to slow down the speed to be sure.
Donna did have a lovely voice.
Amazing song
My Favorite of ALL the Beach Party Songs ..... Love It.. from time seen it at the Theater in 65 when I was 13 Years old or so..
dmullsr mine too.wonder where is donna loren now?
You can find her on Facebook- fairly active, last I checked, and (not surprisingly) really nice.
Her singing was amazing.
Strange that Donna never hit the Billboard top 100 with any of her songs. She was a good singer.
Seasoned. Professional. Hitting every mark and note to the nth.
Donna Loren really had the goods! All she ever lacked was a big hit record. If Capitol had released this version of "It Only Hurts When I Cry" then she would have had it. Unfortunately, they rerecorded it for commercial release and the result was inferior. Those of us who followed Donna in the 1960's knew that she was the real deal.
I agree, this version was much better.
Just discovered this beautiful singer!
Wow what a beauty .
What a great song and an even greater performer. This song is one of the highlights for me of the movie. Donna is beautiful...no Duh! And she sings with range, clarity and feeling. I feel if she hadn't gone into an early retirement she would have been one of the best known and talented vocalists of the 70s as well as the 60s. Her retirement deprived us of a fantastic, talented and beautiful artist.
Im almost 26. I watched this as a 5 year old boy when I was little, I watched Beach Blanket Bingo recently, this song bought back the most memories.
This is one of favorite top 5 songs, and Donna is real easy to look at . Meaning she is gorgeous with a great voice.
Wow she's beautiful
Thank you, Donna💖 grew up.watching beach party movies💖 still watching love that era and 🎶music! So much fun!💖
Is it just me or women are not made the same anymore?
Donna is a great talent that never let Hollywood get to her.
Donna Loren should have had hits on the radio. She never got to the top spot and was just as good if not better than her peers at the time. I love this song.
My favorite!❤
Years ago in the early 90s, I caught a movie marathon of all the 60s beach movies and this was one of them and me and my friend were fixed on Donna. She was out fave. All these years later, I still remember this song.
In the late 1980’s, I loved when school was out & TBS would play marathons of the Beach movies. I never missed them. Donna Loren is my favorite in them. Now I show them to my 9yr old daughter every summer.
I LOVE THE MUSIC FROM THE 60s70s
Beautiful woman.
She still sings great
One of my favorite Donna Loren songs! Love how she does this one!
Love this performance. This song pops into my head quite frequently. I agree that it should have been a huge hit.
However, I think my all-time fave rave Donna Loren moment is from BATMAN, when she says, "Oh! What a ball!" through The Joker's voice-distorting microphone. That became a catchphrase for my friends and I. We would be out somewhere, having a good time, and one of us would say, "Oh! What a ball!" in our best imitation of Donna's distorted voice.
The swinging sixties were the best ❤❤❤
love beach blanket bingo wish it was down loaded so we could watch it free Annette was a real good actress in it I like her movies a lot good clean fun
Special time wow your so beautiful and talented.
Love this song and her voice loved the 60s
I'm crying
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
She's awesome!
DONNA = GREATNESS
Yvonne Craig + Suzanne Pleshette = young gorgeous Donna Loren
Beautiful ❤️
Great song
Great little tune. Like this version better than the officially released one ( on CD).
Love her one of my favorite song she wrote
@@denniscopulos8584 she didn't write the song
Donna was 17 here. What a teen Angel she was.
Donna rocks!
I absolutely love this!!
Nice!!!
I just happened to come across this. I remember watching Beach Blanket Bingo many times growing up, and I wish they still showed it on regular tv. I even remember some of the words. For me "It only hurts when I cry" and when I think of how quickly the years have gone by. Thanks for a nice memory.
Had to find out who really was the Voice behind Linda Evans acting like she was singing He's My Fly Boy in the movie BBB...Donna Loren that's who...#BlueEyedSoul!!!
Donna Loren, Baby.
Yeah this show is nice! an thank you for your support Donna with my music!
I love this movie version of this song, but all should know there's another really great rendition that Donna Loren does of this song on her "Beach Blanket Bingo" album. She sings her heart out on it.
beautiful and talented..
Donna, you are so awesome. Love this video.
Great singing, good song - both spoiled by the scene. Such a serious song has/had no place in a beach movie, and especially a scene such as we see here. Poor Donna.
With all respect to Donna's wonderful, magnificent performance, about 1 minute in, I got to watching where she supposedly cooking the marshmallow, and that thing is doomed. 🤣
awsome !!!
I love it so great
this is soooo good!!!
Great Great Great Great voice from Angel and I love her
Gorgeous Donna has a beautiful voice.
Donna’s such a delight to watch!
Wasn't Donna like 16 years old when she made this film.....? What a talent...!
