I personally like the "i want you" and the "i dont think so" being repeated. I usually dont like so much repetition in songs but it... actually works really well in this. Its addictive and works with the obsession concept perfectly.

Thank you for sharing your honest opinions! I agree that with most of Exo's title songs you have to listen to them multiple times to really get them. They tend to be very complex. For me, the ultimate test is how it sounds in my car while I am driving. This one passed the test! lol.

I'm so in love with Obsession, this comeback is one of my favorites till the moment, it's so unique with that sample and OMG the visuals are stunning, since the first time I watched the MV felt totally obsessed with the song; the full album is incredible as well. EXO is always putting the bar so high with their amazing music and concepts.

I love this song, It's been on replay since yesterday. The voice sample makes it infectious. The song has a hiphop and 2007-2010 era RnB vibe. Suho's outfit reminds me of Ban from 7Deadly sins Lol

LIT tv the hook, or rather the part where they start with “thousand nights” is very R&B, as well as the bridge at the end of the song. Song is weirdly mellow though for having such a hard beat😂
This song was an artistic masterpiece tbh and exo really came for everyones throat with this one and itzy is a good comparison since they come up with experimental songs too. ☺️🤙🏽

이번 옵세션의 노래가 난해하다 또는 가사가 와닿지 않는다 라고 느낄 수 있다는 점은 공감이 갑니다! 팬인 저도 뮤비없이 처음 들었을 때 음? 스러운 느낌이 있었거든요ㅎㅎ 하지만 2번째부터는 난해함보다는 중독적인 사운드와 파트에 매력을 분명히 느끼실 수 있을 거라 생각해요! 의외로 단순한 평(노래 좋네, 괜찮다)보다 진솔하고 솔직한 감상평이라 놀랐습니다ㅎㅎ 이번 곡이 다방면에서 여러 평가가 나온다는 점이 팬입장에선 기분 좋기도 하네요ㅎㅎ 가장 좋은 건 이젠 엑소가 비주얼에 실력이 묻히는 일이 점점 사라지고 점차 인정받기 시작한다는 점이 좋네요ㅎㅎ

I love your reactions!! First of all, the added powers and visual effects at the top of the video are hilarious! And CM, I totally agree with you about the repetition of “I want you” and “I don’t think so” to indicate Obsession. Enjoyed Sean’s comment about the song’s production and how it grows on you vs immediately loving it. It’s typical SM sound - which is neither good or bad. It just is. Thanks for the reaction!

After listening to the digital album, I was obsessed with it before it even came out. it's the title track of EXO's 6th album with the same name. This song brings trap bass blend with synthwave and jazzy accapella influences similar to their 2018 track "Tempo" with a vocal refrain running throughout the song. Lyric-wise it comes as a warning toward an ex-lover or friend, corrupt media, SAESANGS and Anti-fans to stay away avoiding entitlement which is a constant issue among the kpop community. The track was released with an MV that fits their album wide storyline as a whole!
They are shown fighting Red Force clones of themselves which don't share the same superpowers as the members...the only two clones that have similar powers is bad Baekhyun & Chanyeol.

It’s so strange to listen to music written in a language you don’t understand and love it dearly. They are in my daily playlist with Santana, Coldplay, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd.

I’ve read that some Marvel artist is working on Exo mythology... I was expecting a movie or better; a documentary about their “legends from another planet” concept.
It is amazing that the story was written before 2012 and still continues.
With this album we learned that they have been cloned when the red force kidnapped them and now they are fighting with their fakes. Better story than many Marvels :)

That is so true. I actually got shocked with the type of sound they went wc is more hip hop. At first i didnt like it but after a few listens you get addicted to it, maybe it was intention? Youll get obsessed with the song, ironically speaking. It works.

Honestly I also thought the same after the first listen like this song lacked a catchy chorus and I was a bit confused about that. However I loved each section of the song from the get go maybe the distorted vocals not so much but never had a problem with the "I want you" part and once you listen to it a few more times it really is catchy even if it doesn't have a simple chorus you can sing along to.

The sound of each one is perfect. They were born to be idols. Although they are not hiphop bands, they produced a thousand times more beautiful song than Hiphop bands. this is Exo, there is no limit. People who call them unsuccessful are just jealous. Although Exo doesn't come out of Korea, it breaks more records than most popular bands all over the world. Exo will never get old, let everyone know it. Exo's will never pass. They are always different from Kpop but they will remain a legend within Kpop. There are people who come to places they don't deserve with popularity and don't know what real music is. After all, Exo will do it. They are the legends of the entire universe.

I don't know how you guys missed it but...
Instrumental :That switch to RnB cords (from your reaction video at 2:30) at 7:18 they become prominent,
Vocal wise : when they slowed it down, the chorus is very RnB ( at 2:00 ,5:00, 5:29 for example)..
You may try to listen to the song only without watching the music video. It actually makes the song enjoyable right away. And you are right, after listening to it over 5 times it became my favorite EXO title track ever even though I didn't love it in the first place. Mysteriously.

This is EXO and X-EXO fighting one another. X-EXO is their evil clones, who apparently trapped the real EXO years ago. another theory also has the words being directed against saesangs. A very workable theory if you listen to the actual lyrics. There are soooo many layers to this song and MV. It's freaking brilliant

Hip hop is just not my cup of tea. I'm a sucker for vocals and melodies rather than beat and rapping. I was so so confused when I first listened to Obsession. So i listened it for the 2nd, 3rd,4th and now... I am Obsessed. The I want you part was annoying but then it gets into your head. i kept hearing that part everywhere I go. Overall, it depends on the person itself. It is definitely something new but still have that EXO vibe. As expected from EXO. They never dissapoints.
