VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Not everyone who lives tiny lives in it full time. This is the case Isaac of Colaventures, and his 1992 40ft Thomas school bus. They use it their skoolie about once a year for a family adventure, but the rest of the time it sit in the front yard used as an Airbnb. This DIY bus conversion is perfect for a family of 5 adventure or just relaxing. The 40ft bus isn't great on turns, but the space they created is large and open. If you were always wanting to check out a skoolie but don't want the hassle, y'all can check out their Airbnb listed below.

Omg I wish all builders were this laid back and fun! So refreshing and everything's perfect!
Finally! A real bathroom! Great job!
That king bed looks like it’d be a killer to make.
kara and nate the youtube chanel lived there for 1 day
Yep! They did!
VERY NICE HOME!!!! MY FAVORITE IS THE BATHROOM!!
Love the bus
Very nice
Beautiful
I love it.
Fantastic 👏 👏
Very nice layout..great bathroom..love the open feeling. Great for vacation vehicle.
I think Kara and Nate stayed there? Really cool!
They did! Just a few months ago!
I think they did too
I was about to comment that😁
Yeah
Yes! I saw that and went wow I recognize this! Good idea AurBNB !
It’s very cozy. Simple but still work
I love the electric stove.
I would want to live there full time!
Good choice
Your bus rocks!!!
Beautiful Build, Safe Travels. Blessings
Very nice layout..great bathroom..love the open feeling.
SIMPLEMENTE HERMOSA! 💞
Que bonita
This place actually looks like the countryside in Barbados.
I didn't see any cupboards in the Kitchen area for dishes or food? & where do the Children sleep & keep their toys/Clothes? Just wondering, these things may all have been there, but they were not shown in this posting............. I was just wondering???
Great build... Looks very comfortable... Very creative and innovative designs... Well thought out..I love that it is very open and airy and not overcrowded with stuff.. Everything seems to have it's place... I'm a minimalist and could definitely live in this bus... Superb job my friend...
Kool build out. 😎 As a solo Senior, wanting to full time, the kitchen does need more counter & storage. I'd only want 1 couch. 😆
Also, I got a ton of clothes , would need a full closet & W/D. I can see how I could tweak your floorplan for my needs.
THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATIONS!!
Cool
Great job! Simple and airy yet has what one needs for a easy getaway.
Cool build 👌
6 mine on a project that size is really fast in my opinion. That is a lot of work.
I love the design for 2 people.. I love the kitchen , bathroom and king size bed great job ..
I love this! Its perfect for my husband and I no kids 😧! You did a great job!
Aesthetically pleasing, and I like how you guys managed to include a tub, but it has its flaws:
- poor insulation is not a joke to me; that's a dealbreaker
- kitchen area is too small
- AC above your faces? why?
- where do the kids sleep? (to be fair, tiny living is best for single people and couples; one can't realistically expect to have 2 distinct bedrooms)
- insulation depends solely upon where you live.
- kitchen is not for a live in bus.
- children love couches. Again, not a live in.
- if you don't like their choices build your own. For what they wanted it's absolutely perfect.
Loved the simplicity
i love the huge seating. a lot of builds waste space on the dinette where as this one has more seating but you can still enjoy family meals.
Looks amazing,,would love to be there,
Absolutely gorgeous bus! I love how we can hear the rain. Get a idea of how loud it is. I just love it. So cozy!
I really appreciate the separation of rooms. Thank you for sharing.
I really like your fridge freezer. You didn't mention the brand. I'd really like to know more about it. Will one of the links below head me in the right direction since nothing is specifically mentioned?
Such a beautiful build & the cedar compliments it perfectly.
How do they be find the old school bus to live in and how much are they running for
I was wondering.. do the kids sleep on the pull out couch?
The cedar ceiling was a fantastic idea! I’m hoping to build a log cabin tiny home into a truck bed kinda build and would love that type of ceiling :D looks fantastic
Really lovely build has a nice open and "peaceful" look - great colour scheme. The only thing I would add (just for a neater look) is to put sliding doors on the space below the sink/induction cooktop to hide the rubbish bin and microwave/oven (maybe a vent in the door in front of the microwave to minimise condensation).
Love how clean and open your build is. The wood accents truly make this homey and classic. Even your small kitchen is a perfect size (but yes perhaps a couple more shelves). Love the stove and your bathroom is really perfect. I love skoolies but too intimidated by the engine etc. Bravo on the build!

Looks awesome! Ballpark, how much did you spend on the conversion and how long did it take you?
😎
Is it legal to drive with people sitting on the couches?
For those all bus tour that i’ve watched this was the best of all, it so simple❤️
I would really want to know what kind od fridge that is...
Hai......😉
Great job, loving the lovely big bed think it's very luxurious for a bus conversion. Xxx
Which types/size(s)/brands of inverters did you have that kept blowing up? Gas/propane/dual fuel? People say 2000 watts wasn't enough to run a Vitamix lol, so they went with 3000. Idk how many watts you'd need for fridge, washing machine, etc.
why is the heating stove so far off the ground?
Are the plants still alive?
Beautiful 😁 love the bathroom ❤️ all Wood ♥️
How tall is the shower?
What did he mean he said it’s was too long for national parks ?
I love the long couches that make into a huge bed...I wanted my hubby & I to buy a van and do the beds like this...my husband is 80 and I am 70...so I thought twin beds would make it easier for me to help him as we get older...but I think for the two of us, an XL, high top van would be easier for us to manage...with the COVID situation we’ve been afraid to travel. Hopefully once we get our vaccination we can get back to a little traveling...if we were younger and our grandkids would still go with us, we would def do a skoolie! I love them!!! they’re all teenagers now tho...it’s not about grandma & grandpa anymore. 😄❤️
Great tour! I love colaventures. Watched his videos during their conversion. Great sense of humor and love how honest he is about challenges.
Real nice bus, the bathroom is tremendous! As far as I can see you don't have a pantry, do you?
Did I miss where the kids sleep?
On the front couches. They convert to a 6ftx 8ft or so bed.
@@becs2272 That may be true, but where would they keep their clothes & their toys? Kids need their own area away from the adults to be able to play & just be kids. if they have to have their clothes & toys under the couches then that makes it very hard for them to have much of a life if they were living in it full time. & if the adults want to sit up @ night & play cards lets just say W/Another couple, where would the kids go to play & sleep if the adults were sitting on top of their toys & they couldn't just go to bed if the adults were sitting on top of their beds as well.
This would be a bus for adults only & like I said in a different note there was no cupboards in the kitchen area for dishes or for food storage. I liked it somewhat, but it was lacking in a lot of area's. UNLESS all of these things were there & he just didn't show them. in which case he needs to redo this Vlog.
.............................. 👍🌷🔦🎓
I like the design, great for a couple but there needs to be more room for their 3 children! One bed for 3 is not a good equation, no matter how big the bed is...
meh. great idea centralizing all the plumbing in that single area though. no solar, no propane, no greywater tank, barely any insulation...lots of downsides with this skoolie.
I agree. This is probably the most poorly designed skoolie I’ve seen.
Defiantly wasn't built to be off grid. It does have a grey water tank though and I'd love to put solar in some day. Went with getting it done rather than making it perfect :)
@@ColaVentures i hear ya!...i felt the same way with my build. :) peace
I think it's perfect for their needs just the way it is. It may not be your preference or taste, but that doesn't mean it's poorly designed. The beauty of building your own space is that you can build to your needs.
Amen to that, no food storage/dishes/Kids room & play area or their clothes
It’s lovely inside but you can tell that they don’t live in it full time. Not the best use of space; especially around the kitchen.
I'm single 😥😥😥😥😥
His neighbours property value 📉
Beautiful
Very nice layout..great bathroom..love the open feeling. Great for vacation vehicle.
