Not being able to swipe between watch faces anymore is a terrible idea. I used multiple faces set up with different complications but now I will have to go into edit to change faces. A major loss of functionality and just a hassle. Not happy.
Pretty desappointing update. Love the app screen redesign but aside from that they’re taking away too many useful feature.
No more Dock / Favorites? I use that almost every day.
You can get to that by double-clicking the Digital Crown now rather than pressing the side button.
@@rootypoots That’s like the app switcher on your phone; different functionality. Currently when you double press the Digital Crown it switches back and forth between your last two apps. Now it will be an app switcher. The Dock allows you to quickly access apps of you’ve placed in it; something along the lines of the Mac Dock in terms of functionality.
I miss the dock :( I can't get to "Shazam" fast anymore, without scrolling through all apps list :(
1:09 just drag shazam towards the top
@@elvisflees I use the list - not the grid - and I'm not able to rearrange the list.
@@MrMorajo try the new grid. It’s basically a list view with better functionality.
Use Siri
I was literally coming to the comments to mention the Dock. I’m so bummed. I use it for transit times, quick access to my timers, calendar, and Apple Music, no matter which each face I’m using. I guess we’ll have to hope that they have the appropriate widgets and pin them to the top of the Smart Stack; at least I’m hoping. 🤞
Personally I loved having the dock accessible by the side button, and I can pin my favourite 10 apps in any order. Now, you can only access recent apps by a double tap of the crown, but can't pin favourite apps anymore. Such a downgrade.
Looks like we’ll be forced to pin one or two of the app shortcut widgets to the top of the Smart Stack; each widget can hold three app shortcuts.
Oh dang! Does that mean we HAVE to go to the watch face before we can access the Smart Stack?? I hope you can swipe up from anywhere like you could the Control Center! 🤞🤞🤞
Hopefully they figure out a way to keep the dock somewhere. I use it all the time.
I am really gonna miss double tapping crown to jump to last app and also the Dock which used to be the side button.
Thank you for the information I had a hard time trying to figure out how to get the control center
Omg, I’m having trouble with the double-click change App function! It either brings me back to App view screen or engages Siri. Frustrating. Does just the crown get double pressed or does one need to hold the side of the watch at the same time? This is my first watch - the SE - and I’m ready to return it. 😮 Thank you!
So, in other words, they rearranged EVERYTHING in order to add offscreen widgets, instead of just sliding them in a different way. And now our muscle memory has to relearn where control center and the dock live now. That’s not a small change. That’s adding a heck of a lot of unnecessary UI friction.
Very much with you on this. Every watch face is different and does not have immediate access to all of the apps I need quick access to. Having the dock ensures I can get to the app/task I need, regardless of the current watch face.
Oh dang! Does that mean we HAVE to go to the watch face before we can access the Smart Stack?? I hope you can swipe up from anywhere like you could the Control Center! 🤞🤞🤞
Eh it’s way better now… basically they fixed it.
Totally agree! I don like especially how one of the most prominent element of the watch - side button has been made absolutely secondary feature.. where I wanted to see real advancement of how I can use it in the watch, in each app.. for me so far this is worst update of *OS from Apple. Sure it looks more beautiful but it works worse IMHO.
My s/“favorite” UI of the AppleWatch is swipe down from Home Screen to reveal Notification Center, only to have a new notification show up 0.0001 ms before my finger touches the screen and that notification is DELETED (sidebar: where is our Notification History?!?!), but when you’re in Notification Center, you have to swipe left then tap X to clear a notification. 🏆 🎂 💰 for whoever left that garbage in for the past 8 years.
Can you customise the good morning screen when exiting sleep mode?
I don't think it's going to hurt my battery to close background apps. It's not something I think about one way or the other. I've never wore out a battery on any Apple device yet ✌🏼️BTW thank you for your video
When you force quit apps your watch/phone needs to reload the app completely as opposed to waking it from a suspended state, using more CPU/power, not necessarily about degrading the health of your battery.
Andrew what steel band are you using on your Apple Watch Ultra out of interest?
On the smart stack, at the bottom there is the quick launcher row of 3 icons. Are we able to add another row/stack of another 3 icons? For example maybe a stack of 3 for navigation apps, and a different stack of 3 for workout apps
I have enjoyed it, I’ve gotten rid of complications and just use the Smart Stack. Has made it much less cluttered.
Is it like the Siri watch face?
@@kevinweyrauch4875 that’s basically what it is but much easier to use UI and better screen to set up. I have enjoyed it much more by taking most of the tiny complications off the watch. Much less hectic to look at.
Will watch OS10 utilize the full screen on the Ultra?
Has anyone find a way on how to lock the ongoing activity so you don't get unwanted presses on the watch screen?
Did they take away the side button to show apps are open I don’t like using the crown thing
It appears with this update the ability to track total steps in the weekly summary of the fitness app is no longer available. Weekly summaries for move, exercise and stand goals are still active but not for steps, distance or flights climbed. Or am I missing something? Why roll out an update that removes previous functionality?
How does the ultra enter night mode on the wayfinder face now if scrolling up on the crown brings up the smart stack?
It’s now in watch face settings. Options are off/auto/on. If set to auto, it will switch when in a dark environment. Quickly switching it manually is no longer an option.
I love watching your videos. You are so adorable.
I wanted to mention that there is still going to be a dock. Although the video mentioned it as an app switcher, it still gives you the ability to force quit apps. On an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 10 or later, you access the dock/application switcher by double pressing the Digital Crown. 2:11 . People must have skipped this specific clip-Hope this helps!!
how do we customize it tho??
There is unfortunately no way that you can switch the dock feature to the old way you accessed the dock unless you didn’t update to WatchOS 10.
How many widgets are you limited to? Can you have different widgets for each watch face or are they persistent across all watch faces?
Seems like it will be persistent across all watch faces.
so the digital crown acts like the home button on the older iphones
Hi 👋🏼 Could you PLEASE do a video addressing Apple shutting down Photo Stream as of July 26th. I simply don’t know what to do or if its even legit. TY
Did they put the “add to library” button back into the Siri UI when you shazam a song? It seems like they just mostly remove features with every app update. Now they took away the app switcher…
I deleted the 3 complications "Widget" in the smart stack and can't seem to get it back!
Hmm mostly good, however I use the Dock a lot, I take it that functionality is now lost?
I use it often too. We will be able to pin widgets to the top of the Smart Stack, but that’s not nearly as convenient as the Dock. Although I do remember seeing a widget that allows you to place 3 app shortcuts in it. I guess pinning two of those to the top would suffice. Still not a fan, at least without going hands-on.

@@theGospelshallITspreADthe new “docking” can’t be customized tho??
What watch face is the blue one ?
Like myself there are many here who miss the dock. Apple really screwed the pooch.....again.

I guess he hasn't realized he cant switch watch faces 3:40 like we use too..
Hey. Where is the notification center now ? 🤔
way better now how the crown scrolls upa nd down only versus zooming in and out of all apps....
Demo Namedrop please
To bad Apple don’t have the walkie talkie feature on the iPhone yet
Can ANYONE tell me if door dash driver app works? How about Uber eats and grub hub? DRIVER APP not to order food.
It’s appears that the “dock” Is no longer accessible. If so, what is the easiest way to jump to your favorite apps…?
Ray, Happily retired in San Diego 😎🌴⛱😎 B
I’m gonna miss the Dock, but it looks like we will have to pin one or two of the app shortcut widgets (not Shortcuts as in the automations) to the top of the Smart Stack. The app shortcut widget will allow us to set three apps per widget.
I've noticed Siri automatically comes up randomly and it shows in your video too
This is the dumbest thing, like if I wanted my apps stacked like the new grid I’d choose list. Like if you’re having a hard time navigating your grid, you didn’t take time to set it up for your use. I want my dial back to being the manual way to turn night mode on, and my side button back to what it did before.
Agreed
@@forestranger29 what’s funny is they could’ve applied the ability to edit the list choice like they do the grid where you can position what you use most closer to the top. The auto night mode is dumb, because it’s broad daylight but it flickers back in forth depending what area of my home I’m in. Like relax it isn’t midnight. The manual feature with the crown for the ultra was awesome cause I did it when I needed to, theater, camping etc. Widgets make no sense because literally most of them are available on your watch face, and a smart person has the ones most used on their grid dead center. It’s a mess, and Apple needs to fix it or at least have an option to change it. This is the crap that happens with Safari when they changed the search bar and eventually they put the option of bottom or top.
I've heard from many tech reviewers that "you don't need to force quit apps on your iPhone. It doesn't bring anything and hurts battery life."
I know that's Apple's official message as well. But from first hand experience, I have to disagree. I use my iPhone with quite intensive music production tools, and I've realized that force quitting everything really gets the music production apps to run much more smoothly. It literally makes the difference between the device being usable for live performance, and being so sluggish that it's nearly unusable. I always force quit everything before a show.
That is because you clear up RAM i think. So for this use case it’s useful but not for everyday use.
Thank you, Andrew, for this video. I just upgraded my Apple Watch to iOS10 and wondered where my control center was. I spent a good part of my morning looking online. Then your video popped up and answered all my questions. Thank you again!
If they don’t allow face switching by swipe I’m probably not gonna update. Can’t believe that’s not available in this.
All you have to do is press on the watch face and then you can slide to,different faces
@@MrDespatcher yea but it’s easier to just swipe. Physically holding it down first is an unneeded extra step. Especially for ppl like myself who switches watch faces very often
Why would people be obsessed with widgets on this tiny screen when they have a phone?
Why are there two clocksss😅!
looks pretty responsive
❤❤❤
OMG! I ducking hate it!
This update is annoying. I like the new snoopy watch face and that’s it. I don’t need a Smart Stack I have complications. I also switch between watch faces often and I like swiping.
Not to mention the worst part? WatchOS can’t give weather and temperature in apps and complication now!
System 10 addresses a lot of wants but the maps still look like a joke for a "Ultra" watch. The only way to use maps offline is to take your phone with you. Who takes their phone to Mt. Everest??
Why is the audio terrible? Are you new to youtube?
I absolutely hate redesign of buttons and crown use.. and I don’t see how this stupid stack of little widgets can help?? I like new screens and apps.. but button and crown are fabulous now and they change context on each part of the system or watch face! How do I change kaleidoscope face now? Not to mention night mode on trail face.. or other.. and side button for accessing control Center is a joke! Sloppy design comparable to hardwiring second mouse button to open system settings on big computer. Apple Watch design team - this is huge disappointment.
This UI is ok in some aspects and two major steps back. It’s hard to interact with apps menu and change the watch faces on the fly is no more. Stupid design
Way a LOT of stuff, hehehe I am a older guy. Ask me what I had for dinner a few days ago. I DON’T KNOW. So what does that button do, HEHEHE I don’t know.
Do you remember this comment? Do you know?
Still a bunch of boring, old dials / faces. Need new ones, preferably from non-Apple designers.
I hate this update
New os10 sucks
Thank you for the information I had a hard time trying to figure out how to get the control center
