  • Have you been wearing the wrong shoes on the badminton court? Or are your shoes not giving you proper support while you are playing badminton?
Hi guys! Welcome to Rookiedeck.com! India’s first sports & fitness focused platform, where you can buy expert-recommended sports gear from trusted stores near you!
Let's first understand the importance of wearing the right badminton shoes, i.e non-marking shoes.
At some point, you may have been stopped at a badminton court by someone saying you’re not allowed to play due to the wrong footwear. People around you may have even looked at you in a judgmental way for showing up at the badminton court with the wrong footwear.
Some people aren’t aware that the right kind of shoes to wear while playing, are actually called non-marking shoes. Well, this type of shoes is used for indoor games like badminton, table tennis, and volleyball.
These shoes are made of a smooth rubber type material so as to provide optimum friction for easy movements which is vital for such fast-paced sports.
So why are these shoes so important for badminton players?
    1. They provide stability and support during play.
A game like badminton requires quick movements. Our shoes need to make us feel secure enough to enable us to balance on the court.
    2. The sole of the shoe is soft, which allows for a smooth landing and even makes running around on court easy.
Using hard soles can damage your legs and cause other issues like blisters, which can be quite uncomfortable
    3. These non-marking shoes are built in such a way that they absorb shock while playing.
Considering badminton is an impact-oriented sport where there is a lot of jumping, lunging, twisting, and turning, we need a pair of shoes that will support these movements with minimum damage to our ankles and knees.
    4. The cushioning in these shoes is excellent and is precise for the game.
They are made specially to support the highly impact-oriented game. They are perfectly padded in the right place to give the best support.
These are the four reasons why you should buy non-marking shoes if you want to play badminton. But one other major reason we should keep in mind is that these non-marking shoes don’t spoil the court by leaving marks.
Hard sole shoes tend to leave marks and make small scratches on the court that spoil the surface of the court.
In order to respect the court and the others playing on it, we should make sure to wear the appropriate shoes.
Do keep these key points in mind while buying a pair of badminton shoes.
We hope this video helped you realize why non-marking shoes are so important and why it is necessary to invest in a pair if you like to play badminton.

Technically yes, but don't do. Any shoes worn out of the court shouldn't not be worn inside. Any dust, stone that comes from outside is therefore not passed on to the court. Small stones stuck in the holes can damage the court easily. Non marking shoes or any shoe have lots of spaces underneath which can catch stones and when used inside a court, they can create havoc in addition to being unhygienic.
Also, non marking shoes are usually expensive and to use that for something for which there is a cheaper alternative, it may not be prudent.
