He had seven seasons with 40-46 HRs and two with 38, each season 100 RBIs give or take a few. Heavier bats are harder to get the bat speed on. If you wanted to tell me he really got ahold of one and hit it 500, I'd be more inclined to believe it. That Darryl Strawberry homerun is a terrible estimate. I realize it was a moon shot, but no way that ball travels 525' that high. Basic physics says that he did not hit it at the optimum angle...and no way he has enough strength to hit it that high and it still end up 525' (even McGwire couldn't do that)... because that would mean his optimum homeruns would be 600'+. This homeruns was probably closer to 450'.

I know he hit many over 500 feet and they marked most of the seats with an S. In 1978, against Wayne Twitchell of the Montreal Expos, Stargell hit the only fair ball ever to reach the club deck of Olympic Stadium. The seat where the ball landed (the home run was measured at 535 feet) was replaced with a yellow seat, while the other seats in the upper deck are red. Upon the Expos departure in 2004, the seat was removed and sent to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
