He grew up living in the japanese countryside, where most people couldn't speak English and therefore he actually never got in contact with the word. He learned English by himself and he has now enough knowledge to lead basic and somewhat advanced conversations, but his vocabulary is obviously way smaller than the one of native speakers. He is 25 and only became popular recently, which means that until then, when he started to learn more English through interaction with people from other countries, he by himself just never came across the word. He most likely just sang a song he liked by imitating the sound of it and it's lyrics, without knowing what they actually ment (not only the n part, but rather the bigger part of the song). Looking at interviews he is genuinely sorry, not faking anything. He didn't know, put an effort to understand it and now does better - I don't think there's much more he could do - but you might want to see for yourself, that's just my evaluation of the whole situation.
Not only countryside. Most asian countries citizens arent able to speak english fluently. Except some countries like india, singapore, philippines
I mean it depends on culture to culture like some people call themselves vegetarian while eating fish In some asian countries that means they don't know another English word "vegetarian".
@@badbitchbut Woah, I didn't know that... I mean not being a vegetarian is all fine but don't call yourself one if you aren't. I just went reading a bit about what is considered vegetarian in Japan, and apparently it is quite common not to look at fish as meat. Doesn't make it better, but enforces the point of him growing up in an environment with very different culture (to mine, at least) - this makes the possibility of him actually not knowing about the word higher, too. Then again, I don't know him personally and therefore can't say anything about his intentions with certainty.
And the fact that so many other famous singers use that word KNOWING the meaning, and still get no hate but this man who is so pure and humble gets hate for it even when he apologized numerous times!

Kaze has a perfect pitch that he can listen to songs and English by ear, copy them on the piano, and learn English pronunciation by that.
He is actually a very humble and gentle peace man.

Kaze has never studied abroad, he studied English by himself in Japan and speaks English very well, but there are a lot of words he doesn't know. It just happened. So after this, he took this seriously and deeply regretted and apologized.
I'm Japanese and have studied English in America, so I know the n-word, but most of the people and friends around me in Japan don't know this word, or even if they have heard it, they doesn't understand its meaning. This is reality. Even though we study English in Japan, we have almost no chance to learn n-words. Kaze made that video many years ago when he was younger and had no foreign friends. Please understand this and don't misunderstand him🙏
Taking this opportunity, both he and his fans who didn't know the word learned about it.
So sorry that you had to get disappointed at the end. I would suggest you should learn more about him though rather than shutting the door on him. I think you will find his apology is genuine. He is the treasure to us offering each of us, and all of us peace in our heart, happiness, excitement and so much more.

He never imagined that the original lyrics contained such words.
This is not his problem, but the problem of the whole Japanese.

I would like to add here that most cultures/countries have derogatory terms towards certain sections of their people (which is very unfortunate). It is a common occurrence worldwide and while most people of that culture are aware of such words and the context, the rest of the world is not. So, taking offence because someone is using such terms out of complete ignorance (just because they are copying a very popular song or movie dialogue) is very immature in my opinion.
The man is NOT American, and the fact that he grew up in the Japanese countryside should make this offence even more forgivable bc guess what? A LOT of people don't know the significance of the slur. Americans seem to think that everyone knows about how big it is. Newsflash: they don't, and as unfortunate as that is, most of these people never will.
Japan is mostly composed of native Japanese people living there; it's not exactly a melting pot like some countries, which means he wouldn't come in contact with people who can tell him that it's wrong to use certain terms. His English vocab is limited, and where racism and its history is not taught, people will not care, because they do not know.
Take South Korea as another example. Rappers have names like 'kunta' and whatnot, and no Korean cares (thats the truth, and international fans have to accept that first before trying to change the system). In my own country, we have people wearing 'black' hairstyles and no one cares, because to them, it's just a hairstyle that looks cool. People use the slur too and no one bats an eye, bc we're a country that has almost no African Americans (matter of fact I don't think we have any, tho I'll have to check; I'll prolly edit my comment if I end up finding some data).
This is like people canceling idols over supposedly saying the n-word in their songs. the problem is that the slur and the the Korean word for 'you' sound very similar and when you say it really fast, it sounds like the slur.
Take Spanish as a language for a third example. We all know what the term for the word 'black' is in Spanish, and yet we don't go canceling hispanic people over their usage of the term.
Heck, I know people who have sung songs by black rappers simply bc they liked the flow and beat of the songs without ever looking up the actual lyrics. They just learn from what they hear.
It's simple ignorance, and it can be worked upon.
With all that said tho, i'm glad he apologized. That's a good step towards learning and being aware. Good for him! :)

I live in the US, so, I know better, but in countries like Japan where people learn English from Textbook at schools, also the race is 98% homogeneous, how would people know the N word? I was in fact dropped my jaws when he said " mother F" as a part of lyrics, but just as the N word, if he had just copied the lyrics just as he heard the songs.

Some native English speakers tend to overestimates their language as the universal standard and overreact when people use it wrong.. some Japanese simply don’t know the meaning of every swear words. He’s just covering the song he liked. No special meaning.. Chill out.

Y'all need to know that people outside America or Europe has a limited knowledge of these kind of derogatory words. For them the n-word is basically just a word, a part of the lyrics. They might not even know the meaning of it. What really matters is that he got educated, acknowledged the mistake and apologized. And the same goes to K-pop artists too.
I hate when people try to use this defense because people outside of America or Europe are actually extremely knowledgeable. He probably had never imagined how terrible and insulting it would be as it is in the lyrics of the song. When this issue was brought out, he immediately deleted the video and offered apology. He said he had no excuse. I can believe his apology is genuine.

People coming from rural areas or even cities wouldn't know about these things unless they are educated about this. We are not taught about this in schools either. I learned about this in my early twenties.

I have friends from the Philippines and Malaysia who never knew the meaning or history of the word until they moved to Norway and they learned it in school. Not everyone knows much about Black American history, it’s not in every school syllabus and not in the daily lives of people who live somewhere this is a completely irrelevant subject.

It's an ignorant mistake. Not something anybody, you and me included, can claim to be impervious to making. It's how we conduct ourselves after we realize it that truly counts and you've already seen for yourself what Kaze did.
So, if you decide you're someone who can look past this and check out more of his stuff, you'll find that not only is he the furthest thing from being a racist, he's probably one of the best things to happen to this world. You've already experienced a smidgen of it so you have an idea.
Only you can decide whether or not you want to accept what he's offering to share. Not me, not Kaze himself and certainly not the person who simply dropped this whole thing on you with no explanation whatsoever.

If you've ever been to Japan you will know that their grasp of the English language and it's nuances is NOT great. Not even good. Trust me when I say that someone there that said offensive words most likely did not understand the meaning behind some of the terms. Just like you wouldn't if you were a singer and sang some songs in a different language that was not as familiar to you. Japan's culture is very sensitive when it comes to offending others and I suspect Kaze's regret is true and genuine.

Am I to understand that all American music sold or played in foreign countries with the word, 'Ni**ar is replaced with out euphemisms? isn't that costly? And, how can this country stop foreign kids or other artists from saying the word? I just have to say once a again as a person who grew up in non English culture, it’s extremely hard to understand what word is prohibited to use or considered as hurtful or racism especially when you hear your favorite musician says those words themself. No clue whatsoever how serious it is say that word. Especially he was only mimicking Nikki song with the word in the phrase.
He was influenced by Michael Jackson and was influenced by jazz and R&B. You should listen to his you tube talking about his songs. All his songs are about peace, self love and higher self. Okay - this will likely upset people but I think it’s a fair point to mention. I hate the N word and I hate that its used in lyrics. I wish it would eradicated from language. However, I understand that the use of that word by black artists in reference to themselves is a very complex thing and my opinion on it’s use in that context is irrelevant.
What I do think is it’s unfair to blame a non English speaker for repeating the word if it’s an actual lyric. Don’t get me wrong, I’d throat pnuch someone who used it knowing it’s meaning but in this case there is no malice intended. I (try to) sing along in Korean but, even reading subtitles, I have no idea what the sounds I’m singing actually mean. I could be saying the most awful words!
It is probably THE most divisive word in the English language. It should be. But it’s impact can’t really be understood by others if there is only a surface knowledge of the English language and the Black/White - English / American culture.
Like I said, i wish that it wasn’t used but it’s not my call. Just be mindful that it’s arrogant of the English speaking world to assume that our language along with all its cultural context is widely understood by default by other cultures and non-english speakers.
