Nobody talks about the Key feel. Tyros, Genos, and all flagship keyboards have Spring Keys which feels so nice on fingers and also more durable, and dust proof. On the other hand, all PSR models, including the PSRSX equipped with rubber based Keys, which feels like toy (Casio) and over time, dust will get in and stop working.

I enjoyed the video. This is how i do my comparisons.

But what about all my registrations I have on an USB stick. Can I just take them over to a SX 900or do I have to reregister all my songs again?

Hi Genos Tipsters I really like your video I own a Genos and sx900 with ksw100 As you said there are advantages but aso disadvantages by swiching
The sx900 sounds better and also drums are better than those found in the tyros 5 however there are some sounds in the tyros 5 which are sa.2 which sx900 simply does not have and sound better,
lack of keys 76 to 61, no articulation, no sliders etc but on the other hand the sx900 has touchscreen, better polished styles there are more genos voices into it, blueetooth
for those saying saxaphone doent sound real its good but you can always sample a real one and save it in the keyboard just need some knowledge
My opinion I would choose sx900 everytime over the tyros 5 but thats my opinion

But I tell you what, when we've used SX900 in a busy venue without the subwoofer it never needs to be run at full volume. Those speakers built in are phenominally good.

Genos kills the Tyros 5! I have owned all 5 Tyros keyboards, still own the 5,3,2. I also owned the psrsx900 - I sold it quickly after I bought it. Despite what this page says (trying to sell a new keyboard) The Tyros 5 is miles ahead of the psrsx900! The keys on that keyboard feel like a toy, and the sound is definately better on the Tyros 5 - I spent hours comparing, and the psr sounds like a psr - The Tyros 3 (when time is spent editing it) even sounds much better to me than the psrsx900! I say again, I sold that quickly because it felt like playing a toy, cheap key feel, and the sound is still better on my Tyros 3 than the psr sx900. And the Tyros 5 is great, but yes, owning the Genos also, it is the KING!!!!!

To be honest your probably not really gaining much trading a Tyros 5 for a PSR-SX900. If you already have a Tyros 5 then the PSR-SX900
might be worth having in addition to the Tyros 5 as the PSRs don't have Super Articulation 2 or feature aftertouch. However if your buying
your first serious arranger than the Yamaha PSR-SX900 is certainly the chaper of the 2 options. Another thing to consider is space, the Yamaha
PSR-SX keyboards are smaller and especially more ideal if your taking your keyboard places.

I bought an sx900 2 weeks ago it surpasses tyros 5 in every aspect EXCEPT: saxophone, and Irish pipes. there is absolutely no real saxophone or Irish pipe voices on the sx900 they simply sound like stupid plastic wind blowers, other than these 2 categories of voices the sx900 simply leaves all tyros versions behind in terms of tech and voices quality, even if you download the Celtic pack from musicsoft it is simply not the same quality as on tyros 3 onward but it’s a joke and that got me into a harsh argumentation with the Yamaha music stupid tech service, the rest of the keyboard I’m fully satisfied knowing that other than the Celtic pack all other expansions are of a high end quality but I can’t play realistic saxophone or the Irish pipe like those found on Genos which is silly cause I payed a lot not only for the sx900 but for many other equipment with it.

Have to say the same as the other comments, unless you only play for fun at home with the kids and don't really know what aftertouch is, this is still only a "toy keyboard" with some updated sounds compared to the Tyros 5. I havn't played this keyboard myself, but I think I can tell just by the look that the SX900 won't have a keybed you like when you come from the T5. It has all the "cheap" features from the rest of the lower end PSR models as rubber buttons and a full plastic chassis. Don't be fooled by the sweet looking touchscreen. You still use all the panel buttons quite alot, and they are the same old annoying rubber buttons on the SX900 as other lower end keyboards.
If you think of yourself as a kinda "pro" player and use your keyboard for gigs this is not an update. Save a few more bucks and get the Genos. But its to each to decide if a new model is an update for you. I didn't take the update when the Tyros line came out from the P9000 Pro, cause I really didn't feel there was much of an update sound wise untill the T3 and gave completely up on Yamaha for years becuse they didn't give us a 76 key version untill the T5 came out. And the T5 was also at the expensive side just as the Genos where Yamaha pushed it a bit to far I think. The Genos is a bit cheaper now compared to the MSRP, more on par with the T5.

    • @tyrostipsters
      @tyrostipsters Před 4 lety

You're totally right. Genos is much superior to SX900, and rightly so. After all it's Yamaha's current flagship model. The thing that has impressed us is how much more affordable the SX900 is compared to Genos and how similar they are. You get a genuine high quality keyboard with SX900, certainly much more so than you did with the older PSR S-series like S-970, S-975 etc. SX900 is totally new and shouldn't really be compared to those models. Sure, you're right, if you can then save up some extra pennies and go for a Genos! But for many people SX900 has been an excellent option when changing from Tyros 5.

You also forgot to mention that the SX900 has NO aftertouch, NO sliders, is limited to 61 keys and that the nice screen is hardly visible when you're watching from an angle, because it's not tilted. No no NO! Stop the gadgets!
A keyboard is a box with buttons. Inside is some smart electronics, clever software and a tonne of data and an amp.
Every damn box is the same. Locked down to the hilt pushing unsuspecting customers to "upgrade" to the next identical box of buttons with slightly different software or electronics.
NO! I have crappy old Android tablets that look better than that overpaid plastic shit screen.
I have amps way better than the amp in the button box.
I want a button box designed to be open. Upgradable using open standards so a loyal non fragmented community can grow around it, producing tutorials, styles voices, samples and songs.
I want a live link to excellent pc software where it will be easier to do tasks like editing and creating styles.
It's rediculous to call that sad looking box innovation. It's the same plastic housing as my psr s950.
