Ya know I don't think I've ever caught perch in Mississippi, I mainly fish bass brim and crappie, definitely do a bit of different style fishing on my channel than you do too
In the Netherlands your big perch is only small. there are perch of 50 cm or larger swimming in the Netherlands.

I wonder how well the fishing was out the the boat with the mud motor, I struggle with mine and would not go near a damn yet.
If you have a trolling motor you should be fine, I see lots of guys up by the dam in red wing with their mud motor. I also hear a lot more of them that I don’t see lol, I’d say there is usually at least 5-10 out there everyday. Just have to have a trolling motor as well otherwise it would be difficult to fish unless you use an anchor. Which I wouldn’t reccomend at a dam
I'm all over the place with mine, mostly due to it being offset mounted I think. My trolling motor also doesn't have spot lock? Mostly rely on an anchor when fishing backwaters around trees.
@claytonapke6502 hmm very interesting, I used to use a non spot lock trolling motor with my old boat and it was a pain on the river, having spot lock and being able to fight a fish in current (without worrying about hitting other boats exepecially at the dam in red wing lol) is amazing, I’d defiantly reccomend saving up for one and looking on marketplace like I did, you can find some nice deals.

is that pool 5? any advice for pool 4. prefishing for walleye tomorrow but it would be fun to take a break and look for some perch.
I only fish perch in wabasha on pool 4, other than that I don’t know much spots. I know walleye spots on pool 4 thou and a bunch of pike and smallies

Out here on Lake Michigan we have to travel two miles out in the lake and 60ft of water to catch the big perch! We use walleye hair jigs and medium roaches! 🍻
