Forte III is one of my favourite reviews in the history of Z Reviews, this one of the Forte IV being released publicly on my birthday is one of the best presents ever.
OMG!! Thank You Zeos!!! I've had the Fortes for two weeks today. My room is the same width as yours. You just affirmed everything I'm experiencing. I auditioned the Heresy's and HATED them. They sounded like they were coming from a box on the floor......They were! AND as you did, you would obviously need stands and a sub. As for the Fortes' height, again, you were experiencing what I am. I was just considering getting a pair of sound addicted vibe bosses to raise them up a tad to sound as good on the couch as they do when I sit on the floor. From the floor - amazing! I will also say, when I started using these, I was concerned about the intensity of the tweeter. My dealer (Kevin at Upscale Audio) says these need breaking in and the tweeter will soften. He says 500 hours. I've probably played them 40 hours so far and there is definitely a bit of mellowing of the tweeter. It might be the difference from the couch to the floor. I'm closer to the mid range on the floor. Hmmmm...
Another thought just came to mind that everybody needs to be reminded of.. the Klipsch forte V3 or the V4 the newer model.. will fill a very large room with plenty of bass and presents.. the room I am using is 45 ft long by 25 ft wide width 12 ft ceilings.. it has become a concert hall sound in that room beautiful and very comforting
Those puppies would sound even better if you had a good amp hooked up to them. So happy you finally got to hear these. I bought the first Forte' when they came out in '84. Beautiful.
I got my Forte IV's last week, fully agree with this review. The detail that is present at low volumes is amazing. Fit and finish is top notch. I use them for 2ch music, got rid of my subs and place them about 5 inches from the wall for the level of bass that works for me for ALL types of music. Very happy.
@@erikhansen3159 I use a Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 to drive them. Fully integrated all in one solution. I do not use all the power of this amp with these speakers FYI.
Loved your review, it was fun. As for their Power, I can only speak for 50 year old Heresyâs a friend of mine owned a pair, and for parties would stick them out his apartment windows. You could hear them for blocks in any direction. No distortion just LOUD.
I bought a pair of these about a year ago and I love them them they're in a room that is 35 ft long 22 ft wide width 12 ceilings as well I added two RP 800 f Mark to for rear channels and then use the RP 600m Mark II for I hi hat channels and it sounds unbelievably beautiful no need for a center channel speakerđ and no subwoofer necessaryđ very nice you triad the 600 m Mark II's are up on Stan's approximately 30 inches off the floor the 410 mark IV front channels aređ up against the corners is white is the room is and it really
The new jubilee is like 108db efficient or something. With my rf7iii I use the parasound a31 with 250watts 8ohm and like 400wpc into 6ohm. Having it at -30 is very very loud and I have -15 at my cutoff safety volume which is very very loud easily over 100db. They recommend lots of good clean power for very good important reasons. If you like to play your speakers loud having the head room makes a big difference on a lot of things. Also the rf7iiis drop down dramatically in ohms something to like 1ohm as you turn them up so itâs good to have a amp capable of being stable down about 2 ohms. They know what theyâre doing over there at klipsch and recommend alot of power for good reasons trust me. Theyâre efficient if you want they will very easily be driven with a couple watts. Both have the benefits. And they donât recommend it for no reason.
Would these be a considerable upgrade vs my cheapy HS8 studio monitors? Dreaming of Forte or Cornwall⊠maybe someday. But, wanna make sure itâll actually be a big improvement first. Would suck if the improvement was minimal (or worse, worse than the HS8), esp after spending $6-7k (after an amp too).
Good review there Z! I AB demoed them with the KLH Model 5: Close race!! KLH may prove to be more friendly with room placement, but those Forte's trump all over the Model 5 and sound SO much larger than life. They image very well, and I got a center image locked on, BUT to my surprise the Model 5's image Better: a higher vertical disbursement, wider and with some songs even Depth, pretty cool. Still, I just don't know which to go for. My biggest concern is wall placement. Z, have you experimented with the placement of the Forte IV, if so what have you determined to be nice placement to the front wall?
Super, ĆŒe dzielisz siÄ swoimi wÄ tpliwoĆciami. Mam ten sam problem, ktĂłre wybraÄ? BÄdÄ podĆÄ czaĆ pod Accuphase E -380. JeĆli juĆŒ wybraĆeĆ, to czy moĆŒesz podzieliÄ siÄ ze mnÄ swoim wyborem i spostrzeĆŒeniami. Z gĂłry dziÄkujÄ i pozdrawiam.
>$6K Klipsch Cornwall IV are Steve Guttenberg's reference speakers. 15" woofer, front horn ports, big mid horn, & treble horn. These are huge & heavy AF. They sound amazing with a handful of quality tube watts.
The fortes would crush them. When listening to music yoj donât really want room correction or dsp as it kinda messes with the way the artists wanted it to sound and just kinda compresses the sound when you just want it to flow freely. Unless your messing with just the low end/ bass I always try to steer away from that.
I had JBL 2x15+horn PA speakers I used in my rehearsal place for our band. The way you speak of horns separating from the mid/bass drivers seems terribly familiar from that perspective. They sounded great up to (not loud altough I assumed they would play loud) medium to medium-high but went freaky at higher volumes. Biamping fixed it somewhat but eventually I sold them (they were 5x cheaper than Forte's though).
This would've been a great pairing with those 8wpc tube amps you have downstairs. These speakers were built for low power tubes. But I still don't like the boxy 1974 grandpa wood veneer look for $5000. I owned the kg4's the look the same but the size of the heresy's and they had 2 8" with a single horn and a 12" passive on the back. I fed them 50w of hardon Harmon power and they seriously blew you out of the room. The bass was impressive to say the least. But clear at levels that would force the average listener to leave the room they were 40 yrs old probably the best speakers ive ever owned
I would love to hear someone compare some vintage Chorus IIâs to these modern reincarnations from the Heritage line. The Chorusâ were the big brother to the Fortes back in the day and have a 15â woofer. I have Corus IIâs and KG 4âs from that late 80âs/Early 90âs era. Love them!
I love Klipsch. There is no reason to pay that premium for a name, though. You could have like, any number of Tekton speakers for 5 grand. I am sure those Forte's sound great, but they wont sound better than Tektons of the same price. Klipsch needs to do something about their heritage line pricing.
You need to try these with a flea powered amp like the Decware Super Zen Triode 2 watt amp. Then you will hear how good these things actually sound. You will get to concert volumes with just those 2 watts with these super efficient speakers. I was a doubter until i had super efficient horn speakers and a low watt tube amp. I was using a George Wright 3,5 SET amp but he passed away and they are no longer in production. Still have both the horn speakers and the Wright SET mono blocks, but had to move, and have them in storage for the time being. Best sound i ever had. Good tube preamp with it also made it even better instead of a passive volume knob, which i originally tried.
Love your reviews because they are spot on! Can you make a video on how to bi amp the Heresy IVs for the very reason you mentioned. That midrange woofer cannot keep up and now Iâm regretting my purchase of them. You mentioned briefly how you bi amped them in the Heresy review, but can you go into more detail?
Thanks for this! Iâd love Forteâs but now believe I made the right decision with RF-7 speakers because of placement. Mine are like 18â off the wall and Forteâs would lose bass. Someday though, Iâd love to own some!
In the first Heavy Metal concert i attended (Arch Enemy, Angela Gossow), the speakers had a similar looking horn. I remember vividly because I immediately regretted picking my spot which was directly in front of the speakers. I was so innocent then. It was still fun, I almost got my hair singed from the pyrotechnics
dude place your speaker under the solid things with spike and footer not a roller feet to prevent micromovement. it does exist even you don't notice. So can you compare this one with RF7 MKIII?
I have been looking for a reviewer who had the balls to play music in their review, so thank you. I'm debating on on the Forte IV, or the Cornwall IV to be used in my 14'X 16' TV/stereo room to replace my thirty year old Cerwin Vega speakers with that sticky faux wood vinyl that should be used for shelf liner in the kitchen and they're driven by a thirty year old pathetic Pioneer SX-201 It was all I could afford after the divorce. I think you sold me on the Forte IV. I bet they do justice to Lawrence Welk LP's.
The Tascam Z ??? ... we love your rebellious, low cost, damn the torpedo's approach ... but those speakers deserve something a little tastier .. the Solaris ? or even one of the new SMSL amps .. look forward to seeing that update in due course !!!
Love Klipsch! Bought the RP-600m based on your review, and also got the RP-8000f at the moment. These may sound great, but I dont like the look of them at all. I hope you got reviews of the upcoming Harmonicdyne Poseidon and iFi Go Blu coming soon. Would love your input on those man.
hey zeos i'm planing to buy M-Audio BX5 for my desk how do they compare to Mackies? It would be great if you could review them. I want to listen to low volume with low frequency bass as i am not gonna buy a sub. Any other recommendation as Mackies are a bit out of my budget. how about JBL Control C2PS or Nano?
Make that 7œ gem stones in the title for viewers in Europe. :/ I'd love a pair for the looks alone... but I would need to sell a kidney first. Maybe both.
You might have seen this already since you recorded this, but RMAF 2021 was cancelled, along with all future iterations of it. Losing RMAF is a huge blow to my list of things to look forward to.
This whole review in a nutshell: forte IV is better than the forte 3 and they work best in a small room up against the wall. The heresy 4 are better out in the room but overall the sound of the forte 4 are worth the extra $2k.
Couldn't help myself to watch this review again. Such a close race for me. These or Model 5. Purchase solely based on price. I should just go ahead and treat myself to these, as part of my Covid present. Hey, Z I agree, you can power them with anything. I always hear the same old: tubes and Klipsch, yada, yada, how about a class A. Hmm, maybe something from Atoll's dual mono design integrated or amp? How about some vintage Marantz? Hey, where's your cat?? Hope she's okay.
hey Z have you tried crossing the streams heavy tow in point them at the seat next to you i have heresy 2s it gives great imaging and calms the hi end down
Donât wanna be the guy to say it but âinto the blackâ by chromaticsâ is simply a cover of my my, hey hey by Neil Young albeit with less energy. You really want to work these speakers play an album titled.. Joe Walsh's James gang Rides again album add a full 116 decibels these speakers will handle that without a problem... Time to shatters and windows and cracks and concrete.. and enjoy the keepers of the soundâ€â€
How are these for as fronts for a surround system. In other words, if i would change my Klipsch rp6000 for these and keep the center and surrounds , would that still sound good?
Hey zeos, what kind of keyboard is that? Its so convenient because it sits good in your lap bc of its size. I got a logitech k400+ or smth calld similar. Small keyboard and even smaller trackpad but conveniet i guess. But the issue I was facing is that it couldnt sit anywhere in my lap without slipping or wiggling. Can I buy the keyboard you are using or did you do some mods to it?
I tried to look for a Dynaudio Emit series review video but couldn't find any, am I searching not good enough or don't you have these speakers at all? Do you have any idea if you ever are going to review Dynaudio Emit speakers?

I know Tubes do their thing on Klipsch, so you can just assume a bit more Polished Cream and "Florgin" with something like the Tsakaridis

Is that one unit or two separate things? I'd love to get a keyboard for this sort of situation but want a touchpad on the left lol
