Definitely looking at frozen pipes in the kitchen with insulation jammed in like that. Insulation should never be compressed like that or it completely defeats its purpose.

As an retired electrician that has done this stuff thousands of times, I LOLed at everything :).
Next time just take out all the drywall. It will make all the tasks 20x easier and the completed job 20x better. Hopefully you will live and learn.
Clearly all the people praising him and saying good job have never picked up a hammer in their life. But kudos to him for trying something, just maybe he should watch a few youtube videos first before he makes one trying to tell people how to do it, or in his case, not do it.
I'm definitely with them on the service outlet for the outside condensing unit. You have no idea how many times I've serviced a home and had to run extension cords all across the lawn or through a window of someones property just to service their units. Ever since this became code in most dates I've definitely been a happy campers.
Before closing walls and ceilings you have to do a dead test to your entire wiring. Also with the amount you hacked off with a hammer you might as well have ripped all the drywall out to be able to see everything how it runs. Keeping the attic insulation doesn't help you either. Most important of all if you will have someone do your test and inspection make sure they can see all connections and have easy access to them
As long as the old wiring is disconnected, which they are. It does not matter where they are running to. He ran all new wires. He can leave the old ones in the wall.

He should have also pit plates over the studs he did run them through.
@saulgoodman2018 that isn't a thing for electrical - the inspector makes sure you place the holes in the center of the studs, and drywall screws don't Pentwater drywall+stud to a depth that penetrates the center.

The whole point of an inspection is to fail it. It's like when someone edits a paper for you-- they see the things you don't. That makes it easy for you to go back and fix the problems. Only then do you try to pass it.
The amount of drywall finishing you’re going to have to do is insane. Wishing you or the subcontractor a lot of good luck
Cut your insulation around outlets. Having compressed insulation around an outlet lowers the r value significantly and also leaves a void around the outlet. You'll get cold drafty air around your outlets. Especially with how many you have on your exterior walls.

It's funny, I live in a ~10 year old home that I bought brand new. And pretty much we have everything that the inspector complained about. And I am sooo grateful for all those outlets, circuits, especially in the kitchen. It may seem excessive at first but I have come to appreciate it. It literally is one of those things that sets apart modern homes from poorly planned and built out older homes. Lots of these "convenience" things, e.g. being able to turn off the furnace or having outlets within certain distances all over actually prevent a lot of bad things from happening, e.g. having to resort to extension cords and overloading circuits unintentionally.

If you unroll the wire before you start pulling it, it will kink and bend a lot less. Makes things easier

Your issue with the Roto Zip is user error counter clockwise around the outside of boxes or it can run away! Thats what you are doing just push against outside of the box going that direction around and it will work a whole lot better for ya. Go clockwise when cutting around the inside of an object and make sure the depth is set correctly for the material.
Demo day I would have removed all the drywall, carpet and furniture.

The bathroom vent is required by code to exhaust humid air from the bath or shower. An added bonus is to exhaust 'deuce' smells!
I hope this doesn't sound rude but you may as well have not put insulation in the kitchen with those gaps it's gonna allow outside temps thru easily

As a former AV low voltage guy, wish you would’ve run conduit and a string from the TV area to where the cabinets are. Makes running your HDMI to you cable box or game systems so much easier.

Just listened to Atlanta Georgia Stray by Chris Gantry! Came out in 1968, on the album Introspection. Great hidden gem!
In kitchens you have to do 2-4 spacing of your receptacles. And you have to put a receptacle on any counter that’s 12” or more. So your first receptacle has to be with 24” and the rest have to be 4’ or less.

Alex, you’re out here complaining about “convenience” outlets and switches but I promise you’ll be the first one thanking that inspector the first time you do another project in that house or an upgrade. I wish I had more outlets in my house.

I dont understand how you are allowed to pull wire like that in your walls, what if something happens and you need to rewire?.. in Scandinavia you need to first do protection tubes which you pull your wiring through, which protects wiring and then you can rewire through.
Believe it or not, The inspector is there to actually help the home owner and make sure the work is brought up to the current code. Not bad work by a non professional electrician but I am surprised he let you "cover up dry wall before he inspected the rough in and there are still things that should not have passed... just sayin.
Yeah I was surprised he drywalled it before the inspection...unless he already had the inspection done and it was just kind of an editing thing.
He was lucky he didn’t have a mean inspector. They could’ve easily told him to rip out all the drywall so they can get a full inspection. Lol.
Hope you leave an access point to get the led driver out should it ever fail.

This felt so janky. I don't understand why you wouldn't just demo everything first. You clearly don't care about the current drywall with all the holes you put into it so why not just take it all down and start with a clean slate.
This is "doing the siding without doing the landscaping first" all over again.
If you have a main breaker on your meter, anything (ie main panel and subs) have to have segregated grounds from neutrals.

not an us-house, but european. we(i) decided to have nearly each 1-3(1 like dishwasher, 3 for mixed stuff regularly changed) socket on its own fuse, just because toaster, waterheater etc etc. we had aluminum wires throughout the hole house. am about halfway through with replacing when i open someting up.
why does the insulation look like its been hosing a city of rats for the last 60 years?? And why not just take the walls back to the frame so you have a much easier time doing the electrics??

Is it just me, or is the foundation undermined? It looks like they originally had a foundation on grade around the outside walls with a crawlspace and later dug down in the middle to make a service basement, made a berm on wall, some kind of retaining wall on another side, slid some cinderblock towers in the middle and then just covered the remaining dirt with plastic in hopes it would not dry out and fall away. Am I seeing that wrong?
I am wondering something here… why are you not putting in any 4 plug outlets in the kitchen. I am having several put into my kitchen due to the fact that just at the coffee station I have the espresso machine and coffee maker with the electric tea kettle there as well and then we have a nightlight there. About 2 feet over we have another 4 plug outlet which is where I have 2 stands for charging the Laptop’s, iPad’s, iPhone’s, Watches, and Wireless Headset’s and since I empty all the bags (work bags) in the kitchen to clean them out nightly and then unload lunch bags and the Tote Bag I carry… the space might be useful for someone to have those as well. I even set up on the other side of the kitchen and dining area a few more (one for each Kiddo) and then requested an outlet in the floor for hooking up the charging cables to a central Surge Protection Tower for the Kiddos to plug in their laptop’s to charge while they are doing schoolwork. This also comes in handy when you have the parent(s) and kiddo’s all sitting down and doing schoolwork together and the parent doing either office work at home or paying bills or whatever they need to do while dinner is cooking too.

I live in Florida and had my whole home rewired by licensed contractors. The city inspector never checked any outlets or looked into the basement or attic at the new wiring. Got to love Florida.
A lot of inspectors deal with the same contractors. Contractors that do great work and consistently pass inspections gain a good reputation and can pass future inspections on good faith

Where I’m from, it’s very normal to have them at that height. But we don’t really have floods either, so that might be why? Idk

Paritially cost and partially heat transfer. You don't want one room freezing and all of the other rooms hot.

My electric box is in the guest room behind the door, my house came that way. It's 24 years old and I've been here almost 12 years. Nobody ever said a thing about it. No inspector said anything bad about it.

I highly believe in separate circuits for lights and outlets in all rooms just so if you pop an outlet circuit you still at least have light in the room not cost effective but 🤷♂️

Get a electrical engineer to sign so you don't need the inspector of the county
