  • Black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to experience pregnancy-related deaths than white women, but they are not being heard. “Even women with all the resources in the world - Serena Williams, Beyoncé, Allyson Felix - who had issues around pregnancy and childbirth were not listened to,” says Patrice Harris, MD, Everyday Health's medical editor in chief at large, as she discusses how to ensure that women’s complaints are taken seriously.

Not just with pregnancy and childbirth but in general. I have personally experienced discrimination and negligence as a Black Woman in the UK from Health Care providers and as a tax payer.

Racism is engrained in the system. In addition to the poor care of black mother this dismissal of care crosses all spectrums of the medical field. We need our own advocacy group outside of the hospitals and clinics where a black person is receiving care. This is frustrating and disappointing.

I don't even bother to explain that the pain I am in after my car accident brings me to my knees every morning. My mental health after the car accident, I don't even bother to say anything to any doctor because they believe any woman of color can handle pain. I just grind it out. I live daily in mental hell and physical anguish daily. It's hell to sit at work at my desk in physical pain and mental anguish, while having to pretend I am ok. Some days I just wish to never wake-up. Just so I don't feel such high anxiety.

Healthcare isn't failing black women. Black women are failing to take care of themselves.
Step 1 : Stop being Baby Mamas. Stop it.

Firstly, not all black women are baby mamas. Secondly, you are the problem. Lastly, stop being evil and racist towards a group that your ancestors already tortured miserably.
