sleeping on dwindle boards sounds uncomfortable!
haha!
Yeah! Good point! Pretty sure they don’t make a memory foam board yet!
Good wit chap
Grip the board with a mattress or pillow. It’s a lot more comfortable than the traditional brands like mob, grizzly, shake junt , etc.
dad comment for dad channel
Dwindle boards can sometimes feel too stiff, but they have some great shapes and their pop lasts a while
I got that same blind deck. Blind used to be my go to boards back in my senior year. Had the pleasure of meeting Kevin Romar and Cody Mac when they were on the team.
Being that I'm a pretty large person to be skating (and spending time way over the weight limit of my stilts) I love the longevity of dwindle boards. Remember, they press Creature and Santa Cruz decks also now.
That's weird. My experience with Dwindle is quite the opposite. Great shapes and feel, but they broke so fast. One bad landing and it's done.
@@hybrid_wwbtr549 I've been noticing that a lot of skate companies keep switching from one deck maker to another these days. Don't know if this applies in this particular instance...🤷♂️
Good boards. Just don’t like all the corporate stuff going on within dwindle
I recently started riding almost decks because i found the shapes and sizes i like from them, the attention to detail and over quality is so good. ill be riding almost decks from now on.
me to ! just bought 10 decks all almost 8.25
I love r7 epoxy boards because they last so long, don't snap easily, keep their pop longer, don't razor tail as fast. You're right about being stiff, in my experience they stay pretty stiff for 2 weeks of hard skating and then they start to feel like a normal board.
Its fun watching somebody have fun doing what they love. Thx Big Daddy Ben!
5:30 I'm pretty sure brands make decks with a specific type ot trucks in mind. Tensor is under the same umbrella, so i'm pretty sure they use them when they test out boards. Some brands might make a "fits all" type of solution. In car parts fits all means that it doesn't fit well on anything. If I buy a pro board, I first check which trucks he rides. I think the whole polar team rides Aces, so Indys and Aces work well with them.
Been skating a Blind RHM 7.75 full concave steep kick for the past few months and I'm personally amazed with how it feels. I've got mine paired with some Aces to bring the wheelbase in slightly like you were talking about with the Indys.
Stiffness of the epoxy feels great for pop and I haven't noticed any real degradation as I skate it. The nose shape on dwindle boards are my all time favourite, as you noted the tail could maybe be a hair longer but not a deal breaker. I'll be buying them as long as they stay cheap!
I think Dwindle boards are sick- i got a stockpile of Enjoi 8s and the mellow concave/steep kicks shape is one of my favourites. I know the DSM woodshop is a separate company from Dwindle and they do companies like Santa Cruz (and I have an Alien Workshop from DSM)
RIP Enjoi though :(
What trucks do you ride them on?
@@bendegros Film trucks 5.25
@TAPE FILTER 2000 how's are you liking those film trucks? Any comparisons? Been thinking about trying some
@@gromitmitten7803 I liked mine, turning is very good but the metal grinds weirdly, like slow...
@@gromitmitten7803 Very much like a combination of ace and indys. Personally I found the bushings to be a bit crappy after a while as the weather effected them a lot so I switched them out for indy aftermarkets. They're very cheap where I live, fetching about £35 for a set and I'd pay more for them imo.
I’ve been enjoying my Dwindles a lot. Especially the Darkstars.
I loved the few I rode . I still have one for a wall hanger Greg Lutzka rattlesnake , looks badass haha
You should try that board with tensor regulars. You will see lots of diference riding it
Great boards. I won’t give them my money ever again after how they treated Bill Weiss, Louie Bartletta and the rest of their riders though.
Always interesting hearing your takes Ben. About a year ago a friend gave me a santa cruz vx deck that he had barely rode. Since this thing had a carbon layer or whatever, it was even stiffer than your standard dwindle deck! It would literally hurt to land heelflips and fs shuvs lol. The lack of concave was also weird for me. Anyway, that bowl looks fun as hell. Hope your next deck works out better!
I'm by no means a aggressive skater but I ended up riding my Santa Cruz VX deck for a total of two years before the pop just started to finally feel off. They definitely do take a way longer time to break in.
I have a VX 8.25 on aces for bowl - I don't know if it's the width upgrade from an 8 or the hard heavy deck, but I have become a lot lot faster in our local huge flat bowl (I am small and light - hard to keep momentum sometimes).
I tried an almost uber light deck (different but similar tech) and had the same experience, It was so stiff it legit hurt to land tricks even with some shock pads and it had an odd pop like it was super snappy (not to mention light) but the sound of popping was slightly deadened if i recall...
on the flip side it was the most wear resistant board i ever had like I found it vary resistant to razor tails but i also feel its razor tails became much more dangerous then normal boards... the best way to explain it would be its like skating a deck with a razor blade ply in it lol
bottom line the stiffness was a major deal breaker for me, ill never try another one.
i love the way they kinda ring when they tap the ground. i love stiff boards, i'm a big guy 6'3 225. got a second-hand world industries wet willy 7.4 or 7.5, no idea how old it was when i got it but had hardly been skated. had the devil face baseplates on the trucks. they didn't seem too bad but the bushings completely disintegrated, so i put some old grindkings from the 90s on it. rode that board to death, practically noseslid through a ply, repaired a chip and it held for the remainder of the life of the board. have one of the double impacts i've had for a real long time, and another almost 7.75 got for cheap as a backup. never had a blind. other dsm stuff is rad too, got two santa cruz boards(one slick), a bit steeper than i'd like but i skate all kinds of shapes and sizes. i'm a rusty old man
Jesus... Get a bigger board
detailed reviews is what i like & admire everytime i watch an ep, ben is patiently analyzing the feels+parts. it brings me some kind-a "nerdic excitement" thanks
Glad you like them!
Ben's next Dwindle video - "I've been sleeping on Tensor Trucks"
😂 nope. Tried em. Have you ever seen me skate a dwindle deck in the whole 6 years of this channel? This is the first.
Got an Enjoi 9.0 epoxy 7 ply deck last year. And it was one of my favorite skateboards I've ever ridden. Always been a fan of enjoi but unfortunately through history their boards never held up that well. But that Enjoi deck, def felt a bit heavier just cuz of the epoxy. But it held pop for FOREVER. The shape was super nice (wished the tail was a bit longer cuz I like to put my back foot all the way on the back of the tail for pop. And the longer the tail the more leverage. The more pop.
I've been riding Dwindle all my life. Unknowingly lol. In my childhood, I liked almost, darkstar and blind. I did not know they were all the same. when i would ride my friends Zero, baker, element ect.. They always felt wrong, like soggy or less crisp. Sometime around 2013 I switched to Creature (I like the shape and concave) Turns out thats also DSM so... I guess im a Dwindle guy.
I absolutely love Dwindle Skateboards, the pop lasts for ever, specifically the Super Sap R7 ones
I have been skating since I was 11, thought I knew it all but I learn new things every time I watch your videos! Thanks dad! ❤
you must be 12 now

Loved my Jackson Pilz 8.12 Enjoi deck from Dwindle. RIP Enjoi!
Never really skate Dwindel deck, but i note that there price is often cheaper. Just for that is great! The price of boards outside of the US is ridiculous!
Nice skating Ben. Do you give your decks away or keep them in a giant filing cabinet for your records? 🤔😆💕👍
Yesss I love dwindle boards. Super stiff and last forever, and I love most of their shapes with the steeper kicks
I was an Indy guy for years. I didn’t have good front smiths. One time the skate shop was out of Indy’s, so I reluctantly bought a set of Ventures. And miraculously I had beautiful front Smith grinds on lock.
I wonder if there will be anymore new boards from the Dwindle Umbrella? Talk on the street is there are pallets and pallets of finished boards and the board factory hasn't been paid for months so they are being held until the staff get paid. Shame really, Enjoi, Madness, and who's next to fall?
Dwindle Resin 7s are amazing…dwindle boards are the most consistent board to board…you can count on the dimensions being perfect every time unlike bbs.
Dwindle shapes tho, weird most are too long.
I have a Youness Almost deck that's 8.38 but only 31 5/8" long, I really like it but everything Ben said is true. It's carbon fiber and really stiff feeling, kinda lifeless, but it still pops. Very few fingers of flat before the tail. But nice mellow concave. It's not uncomfortable, but almost utilitarian feeling or something. I also have an FA full shape and that's my go-to for now
Had the tim gavin dog pound reissue about a year ago with indy titanium, felt amazing first skate. Still kept its pop even after it ended up in the water. Had the exact same board again but just didn't feel the same even though it was the same set up.
Look at Benny droppin' reggy loads! Love it.
WOW. THANK YOU for this review ! you are 100 on point.
I have skated mostly BLIND since I started back skating a couple years ago… just because it was my favorite brand back in the 90s. 🤷🏻♂️
as you mentioned I LOVE the shape and the nose for nose slides - and it holds its pop and LASTS well - but
I have struggled to progress with improving pop on ollie’s despite months of practice, thinking all along that the steep tail might have been hurting that and wearing me out quicker. AND had the same trouble you mentioned with needing to be further back on the tail to have good control over the direction of the board.
I have 2 enjoi boards on deck, haven't rode dwindle in 7 years, shld be fun. Great video man
Bought my first dwindle board back in Nov 22. Now, in April of 2023, I’ll be replacing it because of razor tail. That thing still has plenty of pop left though.
I have had several Dwindle in the past and really liked them. I like the stiffness. My favorite board ever is a Creature (cursive logo) 8.25 Thunder lights. Perfect shape. No complaints about Darkstar either. I haven't tried anything current becouse the shop near me carries very little Dwindle. So right now I have 2 Blood Wizards 8.5's gripped up and ready to setup. Gonna use Venture 6.1's becouse I have three pair (Zumiez online had em $20 a pair 🤘)
Indy’s give you a shorter wheel base I believe, watch The Nine Club with Professor Schmitt
I love the super saps they keep there pop so long. I wish the impact line had a medium concave however i do like the mellow i prefer in between mellow and full
Dwindle has incredible wood, but what the heck are they doing w/ their companies/riders, I can’t get behind it.
If you find yourself on Vancouver Island, stop in to Wabi Sabi in Coombs. We got probably a hundred different decks including Schmitt stix, tons of Santa Cruz reissues, vision, and hosoi. Would love to pick your brain on deck shapes!
I can just tell from the popping noise that it's dwindle. My only local skateshop is the distributor of dwindle in my country. And for 10 years I have heard the same snapping noise from other people. I have always had nhs and bbs decks. But I tried dwindle. They feel and sound like a 4x4 plank. If you are too used to what is considered normal, they may feel different and you may not like it. But if you can't afford decks all the time and you are sick of getting chips and missing wood chunks, then dwindle is great for that. They last longer because of epoxy, but this changes the whole feeling of the wood.
Yeah pop sound really is different.
Some of you may say, if you've never owned one, how can you know it lasts longer ? Well most other people in my area skate dwindle and their decks last longer than mine. And they also feel like a single ply of thick wood, rather than obvious 7 different plies of wood, because of how strong the glue is.
I usually skate dwindle boards. Either the R7 or impact light but I’m a big guy and I like the stiff feel.
I’m on an enjoi impact light 8.0 with venture lows right now. All the boards over 8 have a 6.75 tail which helps.
The Madness decks usually have medium kicks, medium concave and some of the Blind boards in 8.1 or 8.25 you can get with steep kicks and full concave.
I used to exclusively ride dwindle boards, mostly enjoi. But now that they're dying I switched to sci-fi. Great boards.
The switch blunt in the background tho 😍
Thanks Ben , for your honest opinions as always . God bless brother .
palace dwindle boards w/ 14 wheelbase are sick , mellow almost chapman feel
I tried to get used to palace decks since they use dsm, and I just can't get used to the steep kicks. I totally found it interesting how DSM presses each board individually, but whatever concave setup palace was using just didn't work. Off topic, and I have never seen it again, I found a Chris Haslam captain caveman board at the local shop a few years back marked "mellow kick medium concave" and it was one of the best boards I've ever had. looking at the same board a different time it did not have the same concave options. I was actually curious if it was from a stack of Haslams personal boards they put into circulation after he quit....
I had wondered if there were any DSM boards with a mellow kicks, a friend bought a deck from Haslam when he first started his Brianchild project and said it was DSM pressed. That was a few years back and that could have changed, wonder if he is having them pressed with the mellow kicks.
@@hojobasingstoke I do think the “madness” decks have mellower kicks but they make shaped boards. With the dsm boarda stiffness, having a a mellow board that won’t sog out could have been a game changer in the flat kicked universe
@@deadonarrival2882 oh yeah tried one when I used to skate the park that is video is at, it was popsicle & had a 7" tail
The dwindle boards with shallow kicks and medium concave are my go to. Especially the white enjoi panda boards. Only some of them have the mellow kicks.
Having recently skated my first Blind R7 deck, I gotta say, they make solid boards!
Recently had a Blind board. I tried 3 separate times to break in the board. It was so stiff I couldn’t skate it. I gave it a valiant effort. It’s the only deck I’ve not been able to adjust too. Set it up on 3 separate trucks and wheels too. I gave it to my neighbor. Won’t be purchasing a Blind deck ever again. No hard feelings… those decks just don’t work for me.
Dwindle has been sleeping on treating their riders right
I used to only skate almost decks, but they seem to chip real easy and get soft around the edges quick compared to a BBS or South Central Wood, been real into Politic Decks lately gonna try Morning Bell if I can't find anymore Politic boards before their next drop
politic ftw
Right now I’m skating an element made by bbs and it’s incredible so far.
Ben - destroys half the park in one line… ah i dont like it
Almost at 100 k subscribers well done
Ben i recomend a mattress and boxspring. Skateboards are fun but they are not good to sleep on (regardless of distributor)
I was riding Madness, before the bad act. I was in love with the decks but...not with the company.
Actually I am riding an Heroin 9,5 shaped symmetrical and a 9 inch popsicle (heroin). Indy trucks hollow 169, powell peralta dragon formula 54 mm.
I like a lot your channel.
A big hug
Blind + enjoi love, almost is alright
__These decks last so well that they can be in rotation - as a goofy rider the toeside gets worn out more but theres lot's of life in it, so it can be passed to a regular rider and gets the wear on the regular side of toes. I even changed the griptape on one of 8.5 steep kick Enjoi deck - life was still there and needed skate that you know. Had to make white dots on the bolts (now under the new grip) to see those bolts properly hah.
__I think this Blind is the same shape that's Enjois Body Slam - Ultimate Warrior graphic, been skating this with 50mm ThunderTeamHollows and 51mm slim-hard wheels and it's just very casual to jump up stuff, over buckets and stuff. I'm suprised that this deck feels steep for You, Ben, on even Venture Lows. I think it's like one degree steeper tips than the Antihero's Misregister Eagle, which you had on Venture Kaders as crazy that was, but worked fine. You know that Misregister Eagle 8.25 is sold out all in european sites... Get rest and skate this Blind setup again! (Though I know you probably won't : D )
I didn’t skate it again. The antihero was 14” wheelbase but honestly it even made me a bit tired. I really like my tails mellow. Short and mellow.
Much love and respect to you and your channel Ben
No one here talking bout the fact dwindle firing TM’s and madness and Enjoi folding up shop now. Bought out by company that owns ProTec and sector 9….
Theory on the smiths on transition being easier. The trucks aren't as tall so the wheels don't caught on the transition as easily and can be poked deeper.
dwindle wood is solid af. getting a shinner feels like my leg just got chopped off
Agree with Ben and most of the comments. I tried them years back mainly thinking if Mullen and Daewon rode for them I’d dig them. The steep kicks were a big adjustment. The board felt very stiff. It kept its pop forever and popped well. I found it harder to maneuver as Ben said and found manuals hard as I’m used to a more mellow set up. Now its mainly Deluxe boards for me. I like Baker as well but the last two I had broke just in front there rear bolts. 🤷♂️
Deluxe boards are the best boards I’ve ever had. I used to rlly like enjoi they held up well, chocolate just had some kind of shape my feet loved but they crap out so fast. Real and krooke never failed me yet
I skated a few madness boards for a few years. I really liked them, had one shape that was similar to your review that I hated and that was the super sap version total garbage. I really liked this 8.75” shape, for transition. I bought it 3 times. I also had a different shape 8.5” that was perfect shaped. They were Resin 7s. Now I’m only skating ps stix, and deluxe. I’ve bought this quasi proto II several times, now I have a 8.5” quasi Rizzo that I love. Well I’m injured with a torn miniscus at 45 so I’m doubtful I’ll ever skate again. My cartilage in that knee is worn tf down. Getting surgery in a few weeks. You should do a video on what happened to your knee. Pretty sure you had the same thing.
I haven’t ridden dwindle in a while , maybe 10 or 15 years but I remember them warping
Madness have a lot of different steepness and i totally agree with your review Ben. Also the steep tail can hurt the ankle.
Dwindle is kinda dead to me now. I rode and collected Madness boards, but then they fired Bill Weiss and the whole team quit in protest.
Then they killed off Enjoi as well.
Ain't new ownership fun?
Love TJ though, thanks for supporting!
Used to skate a bunch of Blind, 101, World decks back in the mid-late '90's when I was still on 7.5s but stopped riding them around the rise of Hellboy/WetWilly cartoon graphics and what felt like a decline in quality. Even if the decks might have gotten less soggy, I'm in no rush to try another one, especially now.
I rode them in the mid 90s too
I too loved Blind, WI, Menace decks back in the 90s & also noticed their quality drop at around 2000 when they moved production to China & their decks felt different in terms of board hardness so they felt less poppy & they changed their concave & kicks to a much sharper curve & kick
@@EDDIEM0NS00N
yes! the kicks & cave were harsh.
i been riding the 9' cody mcintyre blind board, been through about 4-5 of em now. Great shape, always lasts and doesnt snap easy. probably my favourite board ive ever had. Graphic stinks though
Personally, Dwindle is #2 I like NHS, And man Those VX decks, are AMAZING.
Solid Mr. Horse impression there, Ben.
I’m so glad you got it 🙂
daddy ben blessing on easter
That TJ ROGERS DECK, is one I want to buy to put on the wall. I ride Crailtap GO27 and G52 shapes, but TJ ROGERS is my favorite skater.
yep, i been meaning to get a TJ Rogers wall hanger for a few years now as well
Great review Ben, maby consider an alien workshop, or strangelove review, their both great decks
Did you notice a ”gap” between the board and the forged baseplate on the Venture lows?
I don’t know if it even makes a difference or if it’s due to my boards having a large wheelbase combined with the venture baseplate that does not have “centered” holes for the hardware. What I mean by “gap” I mean that the baseplate is not connected fully to the board on the side closest to the tail/nose.
Eveb though theyre china wood i’ve always been a fan! The pop is good and lasts and rarely chipped em. Used to skate em around 2009 and then again in 2016-2017. Sucks theyve gone full corporate now
Your dog is cool
I like the setup of that park it looks fun.
I think it’s funny that your wearing a black undershirt everyone else on planet earth wears a white undershirt
A skateboard is like a keyboard
too much effort it affects your mood. The less you gotta think to do the task, the easier it is to be who you are.
Very easy to see this now! :D
What about madness? I ride a dwindle madness board in a cruiser-kind shape. Very good quality
Blind still my go to
Thanks for the reviews brother stay cool 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Not surprising seeing that we literally have seen videos of Mullen designing decks & trucks in some Autocad software.
Venture lows have a long wheelbase. Might be why the smiths work better. Put any set of tensors (short wheelbase) on it and the short tail wont feel so awkward.
Wait a minute, I thought Dwindle just bit the dust, going out of business? I even saw a video on it. So, no!!??
Random concrete forms stacked at the park. I Wonder where those came from... 😂
It's like instead of being rounded in skating you just avoid vert at all cost
2:40 it’s because the trucks are lower than Indy… that simple lol lower trucks are easier for Smith grind and for crooked grind and shit because of the angle… you should know this you’re a carpenter
Best skateboard channel 🛹💯
i skated a blind once and it was the lightest board i ever skated but it broke in almost like 3 days? I remember thinking if i had unlimited supply for free id skate them for sure. with autobahn wheels and royal trucks. primo skate gear.
I’ve got to sleep but I‘ll be back in like 8 hrs, no work tomorrow :)
:)
I hope that all is well for everyone here and I hope that you all have a great day today.
Honestly just got used to the concave and weight of Dwindle boards, haven't been able to ride anything else and feel comfortable for my entire skate career - just what I've gotten used to.
I have an 8.5 pink panda enjoi. its flat but with steep kicks and just works really well for some reason.
Thank you for all of the information that you share in all of your posts. It is particularly useful to someone like me in their mid-40s getting back into it. Would you be objectionable to sharing your shoe size and possibly leg inseam? The last time I was heavily riding was the late 90s, when my jam was a 7 3/4 by Real or Girl, a mix of street and 4 ft ramps. Now that I'm older, I want something a little bit wider and I want to focus more on 6-8 foot tall transitions, and some street. Next year vert. I'll be looking at the local skateshop, but would love a point of reference. I know this blind deck is an 8-inch, but watching you ride it on transition it looks tiny. I'm thinking you're overall bigger than me (I wear 10.5 Addidas and have a 31 in inseam). Many thanks in advance.
i really like my enjoi. they make longer boards like 32.2" which is good for tall people. very sturdy also
Dwindle got bought out and laid off the top people at MADNESS and Enjoi. Good products but their ethics are going down the tubes
some of the globe decks are dwindle r7 for 45 bucks. steep kicks and concave.
I also like their decks.. but you never know what kinda kicks you're gonna get. So you gotta go and look at like 10 of them. haha.
Haven’t rode one for years, but I remember them being pretty stiff and strong
I mostly ride 8“ Almost with a 14.0 wb and I can’t ride anything else tbh. Other decks feel way too soggy and the steepness of the kicks of Almost decks is just perfect for me. So everything you hate about is is the reason I love it so much 😉 but I can’t ride them with indies. They work best imho with thunders
Same i skate a blind 8.25 and they work better with thunders than indies
I heard dwindle is dwindling out their quality for money and availability for walmart etc 😢
