Im new to trapping , aint had an oppertunity to trap yet but when i do , here is my question . I hunt in northern ky ( hills an mountains everywhere) . How do the foot hole traps work on hills ? Or is there a better method of trappin on hilly areas ?

If you would raise 🐔 chickens, 🐄 cows, sheep 🐑 and coyotes or wolves kill your animals and your profit is gone. How do you survive. I am not saying kill all coyotes but keep the numbers down so they don't get disease and suffer with mange and lice. Too many coyotes they get brave and attack anything. You need coyotes in our ecosystem to keep everything balanced. Coyotes get brave come into town and kill peoples cats and kill small dogs.
Chad Campbell when people leave traps to catch coyotes any animal that goes near could get caught. Leg hold traps can catch pet dogs and cats if they go near. Also birds such as owls and eagles and endangered species can get caught . steel traps are known to be particularly cruel. They cause the worst suffering and it could last for days if left unchecked. So I see them as destructive to more than just coyotes and it is irresponsible to inflict that sort of pain and suffering on any animal. I understand if you are a farmer you don’t want your animals to be attacked but as farming is also very cruel to animals I don’t support that. I don’t eat meat and I want to see animals left alone. As a species we are the worst predator of all and people kill and inflict all sorts of cruelty and suffering on other species not for survival but for pleasure and/or profit. For me it is wrong.

What size traps do you use for coyotes?
#2 dogless are my favorite, however any 1 and 3/4 to a #3 work, I have tried a #4 before and it was too big, broke the leg.

What do you do if the ground isn’t near as dry where you’re trying to set this trap? Won’t the earth anchor not hold?
Use a tree for an anchor
@coffee pot wooden stakes arent worth a shit coyotes will chew them to splinters.
They’ll hold no problem, you can get bigger ones or drive em deeper

No, you are trying to catch dogs. By catch is fido, get away from houses or just deal with a lab or German Shepard once in awhile

Feet traps are cruel as hell and should be outlawed. It’s straight up torture. Imagine having your shattered in a clamp for days. Use a live trap or shoot them. Damn people are demented.
Not to mention you’re likely to catch someone’s pet in a trap, or even worse a person.
@@graphicartdude okay pal you don’t know what you’re talking about. Nothing is shattered or even broken in a foot trap. It actually makes the foot go numb and they won’t even feel anything. I’ve had my hands in traps and it isn’t as bad as you’d think. They’re just there to hold them. Anybody trapping should know where to put traps far enough from dogs to catch them but it does in fact happen, and the trapper will just let him go and he’ll walk off. And if a human steps in a trap well they’ll be able to get it off easy and won’t feel much through their shoes

@@jacksonwright6380 Easy for a human who’s never experienced 48 hours with their bare foot compressed between two tight metal bars.
And why have I heard and read from people who trap who claim it’s a very painful experience for animals? Some even chew off their own leg to escape.
I’m not opposed to hunting, but can’t stand trapping and people who shoot when they don’t have a clean shot and end up wounding the animal.
You can’t tell me a trap that slams hard enough shut to prevent slippage isn’t a prolonged painful experience. Not to mention it leaves the animal as sitting prey for another to have an easy lunch. It’s animal cruelty. Use live traps or hunt with a gun or bow.
