I get chills watching this.
When My son-in-law was a company commandeer in the First Cavalry, I was fortunate to be invited to a formal parade. Impressive and I was a military brat so, I've seen many formal retreats over the years. Garry Owen!
You know things will be okay when you see the Cavalry arrive. "Garryowen"
Literally the strongest cavalry on the planet.
Love it!! 3/7th 1977-1980 Schweinfurt, FRG "Garry Owen, sir!" "The Seventh First!"
Did I see some examples of Gen. Patton's sabre design here??

I wish we still use horses for the cavalry.
me too
I played command bugle and wrote the sound off for this ceremony
A very moving and well produced video celebrating the history of the 1st Cav Division . The slow motion shot of the unit flags , heavy with battle streamers, being raised definitely got to me . The streamers represent hundreds , maybe thousands of combat deaths , and a battle won . Any former member of the First Team would be touched by this . Thanks very much Gordon Landreth - C 1/12 - Oct 74 - Oct 76 .
FIRST TEAM FOR LIFE. HOOAH.!

I have a question, I have no idea abt this topic, I wanna how a Canadian soldier make the US army Frist cavalry division? It was very interesting to me seeing that and I think it’s cool. I just wanna know the historical significance, I’ve never heard of it.
1st cav was the first to see combat against the Chinese in the Korean War and the first to make it into Tokyo during ww2 earning the motto “First team” keep in mind these are the only ones that I have been taught about while in 1st Cav but pretty much we are most likely to see combat first based on who we go to war with. One of my favorite people to ever be in 1st Cav is Fr Emil Kapaun who was awarded the Medal of Honor
He was likely an exchange student who went to CAV Scout school and earned his spurs and Stetson. He was marching with the command group either due to having a high rank or as a position of honor as a foreign exchange student. At least that's my guess. If he was permanently assigned he'd have a US uniform.
Can someone explain the Canadian soldier at 0:50? Just weird seeing one of our own in an American parade.
1st cavalery its GREY
