I'm hanging out after a show with Gabriel & Dresden and I tell them about the time I saw them open for Holden and what a great job they did. Both of them very humbly were like, "thanks man but he blew us out of the water." It reminded me that musicians are fans too and whether you're a top tier performance like Gabriel & Dresden or just a guy like me who could barely get a gig, everybody recognizes genius.
James Holden's DJ sets at The Arches, Glasgow in 2006 & 2007 (before it closed down) were so slamming he blew the cement out the walls. God, what I'd give for the recordings.

i like that music piece "common land" made by james holden, i heard that music coincdently in the radio first time, its relaxing and has a greatness to it, like bringing the whole world together.
James we love you ! thank you for all your work they are a beacon for our poor souls!

Horizons, Sky Was Pink Rmx, Lump and many more are damn fine contributions to dance-musik culture...but my personal favourite is the Animal Spirits album! Feels like a tribute to the kosmische Musik of the german 70's (check out Cluster - Zuckerzeit or Musik von Harmonia for the originals).

Anyone know the name of the researcher who measured the timing "errors" of musicians playing live together?
Video editor here: All he mentioned was "physicist at Harvard, his side project was measuring human timing". There's a small chance you could find him by going from there.

I love Holden but you cant knock Richard, he did some shit in the 90s thats still far out there even in 2022.
