Took out my friend Wilkent who I met in middle school. Tried to get him on his first fish from shore. www.fishermans... edited by / jtribb67 jtribbledesign@gmail.com
@Axlerod Horowitz I ask the same questions about my GF. $100 food a week, 1 trip to the salon every 2 weeks, gas money she uses to go to school and shopping, and we share an apartment. I think fishing is cheaper.
*Altogether a well made lure **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s the skirt seems to stay on well and the whole thing is bigger than I thought it would be. The 2 metal have a nice plating on them as well.*
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Loved hearing stories about you guys in class together. I met my best friend in 5th grade. He was the new kid and we didn’t like each other for like a second. Been friends for the past 37 years now. Lotta stories...
You mentioned global viewers, I'm in Scotland and the rock fishing methods aren't that different. To be honest I hadn't tried swim baits until watching your channel. Now I've paddle tails galore. My favourite just now are bulb tail soft baits in, believe it or not shocking pink with sparkles. Sounds mad but we fish for Pollack which seem to go mad for them. New content wise, why not do a road trip round the States with your boat? That's be fun
I'm not a ocean shore fisherman but those jigs look like they can catch a largemouth. So, I ordered one of each color just now. We gonna try. Love your channel, man.
So many things to enjoy on this video. Catching fish, fishing techniques, equipment, etc. But I especially enjoyed hearing the middle school stories. There's something special about reminiscing with old friends, especially the stories you probably hid from your parents. I'd love to see/hear more about your past and what led to the you of today.
Great to see you back on the rocks! I call that kind of fishing, "Working Man's Fishing." I love your exotic trips to Alaska or Mexico, but for those of us with no boat or travel budget, scrambling down a hill from Highway One onto the rocks is pure grass roots angling. Keep up the great videos!
Matt, "when you said your surprised people just want to watch you fish" I live in Ohio and dream of making a trip out west some day and hit all the great spots on the way, and would absolutely love to fish the ocean either shore or boat.. so yes we love watching you fish!!! Keep on doing your thing man! Ps.. avacado and butter never get old..
I love all your videos, I find watching and listening to ur videos are truly soothing and I find peace on stressful days I have. Thank you for all ur videos. Also it helps me learn new techniques on fishing. Me and my husband loves watching all ur videos.
Matt: It's not just a dude going fishing. It is much more than that! Your creativity with the zoom in shot when you're about to go "fish-on", your charisma, your down to earth personality, your energy, your patience, your content, your black, blue, your catch and cooks, your butter and avocados, your rocks, cabs, lingcods, your fish bonk bat, need more? No accident that you have 1 million plus subs! We are all tagging along with you on your fishing trips! To me, watching your vlog is therapeutic and we are thankful you take us along.
Great video as always Matts, love the scenery! Lots of good information for both fishing, fish prep, and regulations c: You made some awesome jigs brother 👍🎣
Dude I think once in a while you should find a dad and son that want to learn how to fish and take them fishing. For surf perch for rockfish. Crabbing. Help them learn. That would be one of the best videos you could ever do. We totally enjoy watching you catch stuff and living vicariously through your fishing. But brighting the horizons of sun some young man and father. Well that's a higher level. Maybe have a contest. Maybe have a suggestion referral from us viewers. Because we all know somebody who probably needs to learn how to fish. I promise you from personal experience at helping kids is worth every minute you invest. Teaching them how to cook also very rewarding. You could help in the PlayStation generation one person at a time. Save their lives and give them a future. Best luck in as always your videos are awesome. I personally would like to see you go up to the Columbia gorge and catch a 9 or 12-ft sturgeon. Maybe just a bucket list fish. But there's walleyes and other fish up there worth catching.
Well he is a relitively new father. In a couple years he can have videos of teaching his kid fishing. Also the channel Catfish and Carp/ Outdoors Boys does those videos.
Appreciate you taking beginners out and teaching them the joys of fishing! In Australia a nice trick when you get stung by a fish’s spine you can stop the bleed by rubbing your small cut on the fish’s belly. The fish slim stops the bleeding. Hope it works the same for fish stings in the US!
This was really great, with your middle school buddy Wilkent. Middle school buddies always have a certain vibe that ends up being really good content. It's like you both came from the same place. Do another video with Wilkent, if he want's to.
I came here to learn how to fish the coast better when I go on trips. I've probably learned more about being a humble fisherman, appreciating the little things and what it looks like when you love what you do for a living.
Having a friend that you’ve known since childhood, for over 20 years is something really special and truly beautiful. Have a nice day, love your channel.
Nothing better than putting friends on fish ... Especially when they think fishing is " boring or not fun " no better feeling than the smiles and reactions
maaaaan wilkent making YOU look like the beginner today lol absolutely love your vids and been watching for a while now, always excited to see a notification indicating a new video out. really inspire me and make me want to go out and fish SoCal and see how i do and what i can get. keep doing you because you inspire tons of people, not just me
It is true. What you said...I absolutely love watching you fish. I hurt my back bad enough that I can't spend the day fishing anymore...so I do live vicariously through your amazing videos. I really need to buy a shirt...
Hey fisherman’s life, I’ve been watching your channel for bout a year now and I enjoy your adventures on camping ⛺️ and surf fishing very cool keep up the awesome fun of what you enjoy doing peace ✌️
Crazy jig, placing order now! A video idea… “ does and don’ts on a sport fishing charter boat” people like me that love and enjoy sea food, but don’t own boat, fishing equipment, year fishing license, …. sometimes jumping on a sport fishing charter for half a day is enough, but no one tells you the proper way to max out your catch for the day and ways to make sure your catch are what your are targeting! A video would be helpful for beginners that love going out and catch fresh fish for the household!!
a good weekly video idea is, you taking out a old time friend or something out fishing, for one you get to go fishing and get along more with someone you know.
Bet he'd be happy to get out again, love your videos of getting newer anglers out on fish. Side note btw, you didn't mention snap jigging with casting spoons like that, more of a fresh water method but I'm sure it would be just as good in the bay area type setting. (Just pop it on a slack line and let it fall on a slack line but hard, like a two foot pop)
Came back to watch this video again. I fished from the rocks this past weekend, and it would have been nice to have some of those jigs. Just bought a bunch of tackle and merch. Thanks!
I really enjoy these vids of you fishing with old homies and sharing stories! I still talk to and hang out with friends from elementary and junior high too. Good times! haha
it's not just the fishing, it's you, you're super cool. When I'm ready to go fishing with my buddies, I'm like " lets go". To me you're an influencer. Thanks for the advice you give too.
Hey Matt’s I have a hard time planning out a day to fish, for example I’ll go out to fish with some of the bois and we never catch anything but I think it may have to do with weather, swell, and wind. Could you maybe make an instructional video for planning out your next fishing trip?
Go through some of his older videos. He talks about swell, tides, locations, etc. How to scout when tide is way down and all that. Im sure he'll follow up if he sees this tho. Tight lines bro
Matt, saying hi from Dorset in the UK. Your content is 1st class entertainment, tutorial and always on point. Stay safe, keep it up and always tight lines. You mentioned that people live vicariously through these videos and I think that’s true. I actually found your channel because I was curious about what people on the west coast fish for and you were catching all these strange things I had never seen before and will probably never get the chance to catch so I am definitely living vicariously through your vids and others. Your vids are always fun and I’m glad you are achieving success!
What a good friend teaching him how to fish and putting him on fish. Two thumbs up I'm going to have give this kind of fishing a try down to Westport Washington and try fishing out on the jetty ~ Tight Line
Well I live here in the same area, and it is really good cool that you have the ability actually keep an upbeat video on fishing. I watch both your channel, and one of the people you have calabriated with's channel. There will be my time soon. I have a full time life presently keeping me from things I like. Watching your channel gives me a chance to see what I would rather be doing.
Man, Matts has got to be one of the coolest, chillest and most humble people on CZcams. Genuinely cares about his subscribers and tries to give back as much as he can
We fish jigs (including slow pitch jigs) all the time in Alaska. Rockfish, lingcod and halibut are all jig eaters. That said, most of our fishing is done from a boat in 100- 250’ of water over and around rock structure, so we use heavier 160-300gr jigs to get to the bottom quicker given the tidal currents. You’re spot on that jigs are effective baits for the structure based fish. For what it’s worth, we’ve also had success with them trolled for salmon. Love your tackle entrepreneur mindset. 👍
I'm planning a trip to Northern California before I move to Asia in April. Hopefully I'll see you on the rocks, or in the mountains. If not, I'll still rock the shirt
For anyone interested this type of fishing is called shore jigging and there's a big JDM market for it. I've been doing it a few years here in San Diego, it is really versatile when you don't have a boat.
Calif has new RCG complex rules . Limit is 10 but the former sub limits on blues, blacks and cabezon changed. Blues and blacks limit is 10 of either species or 10 in combination. You could take 10 blues or 10 blacks or a mix but not more than 10 With Cabezon limit is up to 10 with same 15 inches minimum. You could take 10 cabezon as your limit or mix up to 10 within your RCG complex Vermillion rockfish (LIMIT IS NOW 5) as part of your RCG complex of 10 Lure wise! great idea!!! 90% of tackle is made by anglers as we develop gear we need
Got a few of these jigs (at least one in every color) and went out of Charleston Oregon today to try them out. Shrimp flies weren’t working and decided to try out the chrome flash 30g jig in about 50 feet of water, FISH ON!! Quickly got our limits of rockfish (really good sized ones once we switched to these) and back to the marina before it got rough. Didn’t have to change the one chrome jig I put on there. Next time I’m in our two local bait shops I’m definitely recommending they get some, I bet fisherman around here would love these. 🎣
Great video!! For a video suggestion, how a bout catching shore crabs that are all over the jetty and using them for live bait for cabs and lings. I always wanted to see if they work.
Dude im at 1235 those spoons are killin it, dang. I gotta order me a couple... Nice job with your friend. I did that with so many people and nieghbor kids, its satisfying for sure...
Hey man big fan! Long time watcher first time commenting, I appreciate you keeping the quality content coming! There's nothing I love more than coming home from work and watching your vids man. I also like how you use the word "hella" lol I guess it's only a Cali thing right?
@Fisherman's Life - hey Matt, have the same daiwa NC rod. FYI - always check top guide to make sure braid did not cut trough the metal. Had it happened to me with a 20lb braid. This particular model should have titanium oxide ring guides, but somehow mine was of some lower grade. Daiwa did warranty and replaced it, but I managed to lose couple of rigs due to braid getting cut. Just make sure to check once in a while :)
I've always watched your videos and realistically these videos you make are what have created alot of good memories for me trying to imitate your success. Really like the quality of the recent videos props bro keep up the good work
Love your videos! Gonna order your new jiggy jigs 2 of each color, I don't live near the ocean, but I bet a bass would eat it! You should definitely make custom freshwater lures I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
$4 A Jig, what a steal.

Matts: "Wilkin hella ain't never caught a fish. Hella."
Dude im at 1235 those spoons are killin it, dang. I gotta order me a couple... Nice job with your friend. I did that with so many people and nieghbor kids, its satisfying for sure...
Wilkent is that one good-luck friend that is an amateur at fishing but somehow always manages to bring in all the fish 😂😂😂😂
Hahaha yep
Hey man big fan! Long time watcher first time commenting, I appreciate you keeping the quality content coming! There's nothing I love more than coming home from work and watching your vids man. I also like how you use the word "hella" lol I guess it's only a Cali thing right?
I guess so but I hear people use it all over nowadays haha
@@FishermansLife you started the trend my dude!
“Hella” is mostly a Bay Area thing but a lot of people are starting to say it more 😂
I use diamond bars tipped with squid. Literally the best fishing I’ve ever done.
Dude my favourite spot, seriously! Thanks for keeping it discrete.
Nice fishing tips there thanks! Shoutout from Philippines!
Love metal jigs/lures. That's almost all I use up here in BC.
You guys are having a good time, nice to see that. Love from India. 😍
Love you videos, you have inspired me to start fishing again. Keep it up❤️
I've always watched your videos and realistically these videos you make are what have created alot of good memories for me trying to imitate your success. Really like the quality of the recent videos props bro keep up the good work
Bro, love your jigs. They work!
Love your videos! Gonna order your new jiggy jigs 2 of each color, I don't live near the ocean, but I bet a bass would eat it! You should definitely make custom freshwater lures I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
Just been binging your videos and this pops up! Legend!
"im amazed that people wanna watch" burh you living our dreams sometimes
