I remember hearing week night's in the background in the 80s , such a calming Moody song for the intro.

For that matter, much of the scenery was shot in Chicago. Follow-up to my posting of a minute ago.

Yes it was always a Moody bleak type weather on the show, the show actually never said which City it was filmed or set, but I always kind of knew it must have been Chicago 😎

@@BEATSTREETSHORTS Another thing I thought of. MAD Magazine was known for its parodies of movies and TV. There was an issue from 1981 or '82, spoofing "Hill Street Blues." It showed some bikers standing under palm trees. I forget exactly how it was worded, but one said something like "They shoot this in L.A., but everybody knows it's Chicago." I used to think it was Brooklyn, because there is, believe it or not, a Hill Street there. they mentioned Utica Avenue, which Brooklyn also has, but I still think, as I said before, that it was supposed to be Chcago, but they never wanted to come out and say it. Forgive me if I'm being wordy here, but one character said he came from Chicago, implying that it might have been somewhere else. Also, Renko (played by Charles Haid) said "I've never been west of Chicago in my life."

I know it was supposed to be a generic Northern city, but honestly, I think they were trying to say, in not so many words, "Chicago."
