my father smoked from age 12 to early 60s. one day he couldn't breathe & at the hospital they drained pints of pitch blk fluid from his lungs. all those yrs of smoking finally caught up. upon realizing what just happened, he quit cold turkey. don't wait, just quit today.

I just recently stopped smoking after 30 years
I can verify Si’s bit about the 2x4s and plywood during Desert Shield/Storm. Units were stealing from other units because of the shortage of both. My Battalion was part of VII Corps.

I'll side with Walmart on this. I've patronized small tackle shops that might help out customers by mixing and matching, but you can't expect a large retailer to do that. Lesson learned: if you want cheap junk, buy at Walmart. If you're an ornery old coot, shop at the Honey Hole and make John David's life difficult.

A huge part of the struggle to quit smoking is the loss of the hand to mouth movement. This is why some people replace that with toothpicks or pencils. They keep it behind their ear and when they have the urge to smoke they put it in their mouth. I heard of a company called Fum. They produce a short, wooden tube. There is no nicotine, but it does have flavors. It helps some people stop smoking and vaping (or so I've heard). This may or may not help. Good luck.
My daughter and I used to have Ugly Sticks with the open spinning reel in Florida. Best fishing pole ever! Someone stole mine.

I'm cool with the bathroom rule but I wouldn't restrict bathroom use by truck drivers I feel that should be allowed it's sometimes hard to find a rest area or truck stop sometimes you have to stop at a small business first hand experience been driving for 7 years now love it but when you have to go it's nice being allowed to use the bathroom

I don't know how you did it Uncle si.... I've quit all kinds of bad habits as a young man drinking drugs I cannot quit smoking. Just the thought of it gives me anxiety 🙄... Which ought to tell people how addictive they are. Many years ago I had an opiate addiction I haven't touched those in decade more than a decade a decade and a half or alcohol. I cannot get off a king Marlboro .. I'm going to quit every time I pack runs out I usually make it about 4 hours that's if I really try normally about 20 minutes 🙄 I admire anybody that could quit smoking
You can do it. Buy a big bag of tootsie roll pops, often. I know a lot of people who quit that way, including me. Life savers also help. But the tootsie roll pops help the most. 2 months later no cigs no pops. Done!
