    Look into a Jesse Dean Design aftermarket scratch fader…I think it’s a JDDX2RS for like $60. The stock scratch fader on this is just an on/off switch. It is great for sampling on the go though

      Thanks for that man, I'll look into it

    You can easily upgrade the tone arm, pre-amp and cartridge/needle for about a hundred bucks. There is a whole modding scene for these portable turntables. I've modded mine and it sounds way better, I would even say great. I use it to get samples for my SP-303. Tip: there is one identical to the PT-01 USB only white with ION badge in stead of Numark. I noticed that batteries introduce a humm to the sound not present when using the power adapter. Great video.

      Its interesting to hear about the mods. I've never known if its worth spending that much on this table but maybe it is judging from what you are saying. Definitely need to have a look into it!

    This would look good in the studio stored next to the 202.

      Good shout - very similar colour schemes!

    I’d say that a real downside that rarely gets mentioned, is that this device has a kinda particular design and orientation of the outputs and where the vinyl goes over the edge of the turntable that almost dictates that you only can have it in one orientation on a desk.
    But great entry level device to get going for sampling.

    Some people complain about the sound quality of these things (especially using the stock tonearm + cartridge), I really don't think it's that bad! I used mine extensively with the Pioneer SP-16 (which is a great sounding sampler) and it was fine. The needle did skip quite a lot though

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 2 lety

      I’m sure you can glue/tac a coin on the arm to stop that skipping. Seem to remember seeing that somewhere

    I love my modded pt01 scratch..I can make beats and scratch anywhere with the sp404.. it's also such a compact little setup you can get busy on

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah I think thats a huge advantage over a traditional turn table!

  • @turntabletreehouse780
    @turntabletreehouse780 Před 2 lety +1

    There's a converter to power the pt01 with an external battery with enough MAH...they also have replacement parts for your pt..like tonearms, clips, battery covers etc at Jesse dean designs....I just said wassup to Jesse at namm too..hehe

    @DJKC Před 2 lety +1

    I have the ION IPTUSB . Its actually made by Numark and is pretty much the PT-01 with a USB port. Quite a nice deck, used it for a bit to transfer to MP3 but it skipped on vinyl a fair bit so ended up just doing it with my RP7000 thru a mixer. Those red stylus carts really aren't that great but are usually the staple on budget gear.

      I'd say the main reason yours is superior is it has a more wide range in frequency the PTO one is notorious for not having a good low-end spectrum

    Have one and its modded like crazy. Love mine paired with the mk2.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 5 měsíci

      I find it a bit 'tinny' sounding but combined with any of my SPs its easy to bring the warmth of the record out with some compression or EQ! Its great that it doesn't need an amp as well

    Just wondering if this is good for people trying to get into scratching like Beginners?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 3 měsíci

      I think so yes, there is a big scratch community around this table, however I think a lot of people do mods and change the needles etc to improve the experience

  • @trashcat3000
    @trashcat3000 Před rokem +1

    Correct if I'm wrong but it looks like the only difference between this one and a crosley is that scratch switch and the line in however I don't think I'd risk using this turntable to scratch as it would beat the shit of your records. You can get a much cheaper version with all the main features i.e. usb ripping and power, 3 speeds, phone jack and line out and built in speakers. I think I got mine for £39 it's an Amos but I think it's one of those things that's mass produced and unbranded until a company buys it and then brands it. Anyway great video! Thanks!

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před rokem

      Yeah there are loads of usb turn tables around these days that will probably do a decent job. I doubt I will do much scratching on this but I still like the size and the fact it can run on batteries. That could be useful at some point in the future

    Mine had issues after 2 months and support won’t get back to me. Vinyls are played back about 10% too fast. Not usable for sampling anymore

    Mine stopped turning on brand new less than a year or year old, I contacted @Numark but no reply, I see there's a quick fix video on here saying solder 2 contacts and wallah it turns on. I have ghe Jesse Dean tone arm upgrade they come with a preamp now bug I never installed it, totally bummed wanted reboot, but steep. Anyways on new terms got a yamaha qy-70, definitely think you should look into them. Aite mate I got a video I need you to analyze a midi connect to daw sp video on 404 cus I can't figure it and tons people haven't seen this video. By @jpog

    Big fan of the pt01, got 2 fully modded with crossfaders, bihari tonearms with ortofon cartridges, start stop button and ultra pitch😄 oh and better platters.. check my channel to see them in action! 🙏🤟

  • @InTheHoose
    @InTheHoose Před 2 lety +1

    Why wouldn’t you just get the regular PT01 USB as a sampling source? Then you don’t have that loosey goosey switch to worry about…

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 2 lety +1

      I mentioned in the video. Couldn’t find any at the time that weren’t over-priced or been modded so opted for this one in the end

  • @authenticwarriorradio2440

    I had one of these I took everywhere with me. The primary use for me was listening to records at record stores, to find samples before buying the records. I did use it at home for pleasure listening, but the sound quality was pretty bad. It's belt driven, and the platter is smaller than a 12 inch record, which makes this turntable pretty terrible for scratching. For a really cheap turntable that's decent for scratching, look for a used Numark TT-200.
    Edit: I'm now noticing that yours isn't the OG. Yours must have come after they made the PT-USB. I stopped paying attention to Numark's products, and I never saw the "PT-01 Scratch" which is written on yours. Honestly, I only ever bought mine because Vestax stopped making the Handy-trax and it was impossible to buy one used.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 2 lety +1

      I think for what it is it ain’t too bad and as you’ve said the portable side of it does make it very useful!

    • @authenticwarriorradio2440
      @authenticwarriorradio2440 Před 2 lety +1

      If you haven't seen those old videos of 45 King juggling beats on the Vestax Handy-trax, I highly recommend them. There are two videos if I remember correctly, and they're like ancient history now.

      Vestax has released the Reloop Spin. It's pretty dope.

  • @wiggesobk
    @wiggesobk Před 2 lety +2

    The PT-01 is definetly dope. A start stop button would be nice.
    To the batteries, i think they last really long.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Před 2 lety +1

      That would be cool. I bet there are people that have added them on out there. Yeah the batteries say up to 4hrs. If thats continuous use that should be good for quite a while

    no no, with orginal stylus there is no way to use it for sampling. everyone who want to use numark for sampling need to change stylus. for screatching it is ok, only
