      @@H4N5O1O Small EV are more efficent and better for environment than a Big SUV. You dont need to move 2 tons to commute 5km in City from Home to work. In my opinion eletric cars should be like in video. Small and cheap, perfect for city. Thats where eletrics cars perform the best, in city. Gasoline power cars perform much better outside city for longer commute. If more people would buy small eletric cars in city life would be much better. You could fit 4 small eletric cars in place of one big SUV saving much needed parking space that in city in more valuable than gold but often big cars can take 2-3 parking space if rider can't park (that often happens). Much less noise and cleaner air. And much less blond girls trying to navigate around tight roads of city with Big SUV and blocking a whole road.

    There is a huge market which has never been properly exploited by any car manufacturer: Musicians. We are hundeds of millions of people (some professional, some not) often with very special transport needs. We musicians live and work mainly in areas with high population density. We travel mainly alone, and many of us can't get our instruments and accessories onto public transport, or carry them the extra kilometre at the end anyway.
    And increasingly, we musicians can't even get access to our gigs in our medium or large size vehicles. But double basses and keyboards can fit into very small cars if the cars are designed with long shapes in mind. And modular cargo flooring/shelving would help musicians who have lots of stands and small items to pack. Come on manufacturers! Do some clever designs for musicians!

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  Před 2 lety

      Do you think a vehicle do musicians should be electric?

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 Před 2 lety

      @@automotiveterritory They could work for some musicians, depending on price and range required by the musician. Cities with congestion charges and punitive parking fees still need musicians, so the Nimbus Halo will be interesting to city musicians who can get their instruments inside.
      There is a Carver cargo model which would be fabulous for the more compact speakers or drum kits, but I don't see a 160cm long keyboard case or a double bass arm slotting into it. In fact, the existing hatchbacks are often problematic anyway, but they don't have to be. It's a question of thinking outside the (cubic cargo) box at the design stage and making slots for long thin shapes. Could be good for tradesmen too. We potential users are not all delivering square boxes and pizzas.

    I follow your channel and just about everything else i can find about car and vehicle design, transportation and electrification of transports. It interests me mostly from a design perspective, but more and more also from a sustainability perspective. (I just read a book about Gretas family, and they are so right). We have to change some habits 🌱⚡️👍🏻 in this world.
    Following what is happening in the car and vehicle industry makes me more and more concerned. Production of large, heavy SUVs and over powered ICE vehicles hits the roads like there is no problem in the world. And most of the electric cars feels like they are Gigantic energyconsuming heavyweights and It doesnt feel right either.
    Maybe it would be a good idea to get some focus on smaller, more energy efficient vehicles and on solarcars in some way? Perhaps competitions that gives credit to the most sustainable and energy efficient way of transportation instead of just fastest and most powerful (we already know Plaid wins everything) ⚡️⚡️🏋️‍♂️🏆😊🌍⭐️⚡️✨
    I have noticed that some efforts are beeing done in that segment. Wouldnt it be nice to see a lightweight, lowcost sustainable campervan running mostly on solar, or a commuter, a familycar or a citycar that makes low footprint.
    Not so much prestige and power perhaps but a big heart and a green soul instead. 😊💚⚡️🌱

      @@automotiveterritory - In the U.S., four-wheeled vehicles are subject to costly regulations, mostly due to crash standards. Three-wheeled vehicles get a pass as they are classified as motorcycles and do not have to meet these standards. Thus, the Aptera and Solo would be legal at the moment. Then there's cultural acceptance. Americans love SUV's, pickup trucks and crossovers. Manufacturers have to justify the cost/benefit ratio of certifying small cars against the historically poor sales record. Hopefully that will change one day, but it could take a while.

    car manufacturers: here, do you want a giant electric SUV that you can't afford?
    people: no, we want a small affordable car with a good range.

      Well, this video is dedicated to smallest vehicles out there. What is your understanding of a small car? Something like a Renault Zoe?

    • @33LB
      @33LB Před 2 lety

      @@automotiveterritory that's fine, but i was remarking on how bizarre it is that electric cars fall between two extremes; either colossal SUVs that cost more money than what most people make in a year, or tiny boxes that could never be driven on a motorway. in my opinion, a small car is either an A-segment or B-segment car as per European Commission classifications. so yes, something like a Zoe, although the Zoe is still too expensive and the majority of car manufacturers do not make a Zoe equivalent.

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  Před 2 lety

      Well, you are making a good point but there is one statement of yours that I couldn't agree with. Electric cars have been around for a decade and they are significantly underrepresented in the mid-size and large SUV classes. Until recently Tesla Model X, Mercedes EQC and Nio ES8 were the roomiest options out there. Nowadays Mercedes has EQA and EQB models but they also come with the Mercedes level of luxury. But in general, I hear you, the segment of budget friendly city cars is only starting to form.

    • @33LB
      @33LB Před 2 lety

      @@automotiveterritory i don't understand how you can say electric cars are underrepresented in SUV classes. almost every major car manufacturer sells at least one electric SUV. that's a lot of choice.
      hyundai- IONIQ 5, Kona

      volkswagen- ID.4, ID.5

      Audi- Q4 e-tron, e-tron, e-tron S, Q3 tfsi e, Q5 tfsi e, Q7 tfsi e, Q8 tfsi e...
      Mercedes- EQS, EQB
      BMW- iX, iX3...
      Jaguar- iPace
      Nissan- Ariya
      if you want a small car, well, you've got the e-up, the zoe, maybe the peugeot e-208 or vauxhaull e-corsa. but the range on the e-up is terrible, and even the e-208 and e-corsa are larger than they need to be. the consumer wants a small, cheap electric car with a sensible range, but manufacturers refuse to deliver that. all major western car manufacturers are going to be left behind once chinese manufacturers break into western markets and deliver the cars that people actually want to buy.

    Nobody wants these tiny cars. They have been around in gasoline-powered form for more than 10 years and I have seen only a few of them around my county (population 140,000). They are also very dangerous in a crash. Electric micro-cars are just going to cost more and weigh more and be just as dangerous.
