  • Here's my review of the Chauvet DJ Wash FX2. It's a great light and as of right now I do recommend it but there might be one possible flaw. I'll do an updated review after I've had time to use the light more.

    I know this video was 4 years ago, and I'm currently looking at these now. I'm hoping that the leds are far better now than what they were 4 years ago. I had a similar issuie with my Chauvet Color pallets all I did was replace the diodes. Each one of those diodes are daisy chained. So if none of the blue in that grid is not working than the first diode is bad. If the first diode is working and the second and third isn't working than the middle diode is out. Most diode you can get for under $1.00. Hope this helps.

    My WASH FX2 has stopped working; the fan runs but the LED menu does not light up nor do any of the front LEDs light now. This started about 6 months ago and it would go out during a performance; have used it only about 15 times. So I'm really disappointed

    Did you repair it as someone suggested they did by replacing the light diode?

    It would be nice to have an onboard dimmer

    The Wash FX 2 ‘s are great for UV black light party’s. They can be almost too bright for smaller venues if you are not running dmx and you can control the brightness. The need to redesign the bracket because you really have to crank them down to not have them slip due to the weight of these lights. I may try adding some rubber washers to stop that from happening.
    You were mentioning lighting control. I use an iPad running the Luminaire 3 app with a wireless router and a enntec ODE to run my own network in a suitcase. I then use the 2.4 ghz wireless dongles to all my fixtures. It’s cheaper than many wired dmx controllers. It’s completely wireless and will control any brand of dmx fixtures. I can walk around the room and adjust lights, change scenes, and add sequences.

      I have a buddy that uses Luminaire 3 as well. I'll have to make a point to check out his setup sometime so I can see it in action.

      you can also use an IR-C remote control to dim the light. A DMX controller is not absolutely necessary.

    Finally found someone who has the same issues as me! I have a wash fx 2 and the UV lights stoped working on one of the sections, I managed to get it fixed because it was on a warranty but now a few months later the same thing is happening but with blue! Amazing light but not reliable.. Trying to find a similar light with a similar price but struggling.

      It really is a unique light and no other manufacturer I've seen makes anything similar. But quality does seem to be an issue with these. Including me you're the third person I know that's had a color go out. I have now sold all of mine. I'd like to get the new hex version but I just don't know if that would be money well spent or not...

      @@TheAngrySoundTech yeah I did look into the hex version, waiting to see if anyone has issues with them too or whether they might have fixed the issue. The only other lights that come similar to this one is the adj dots flood and I’ve seen some other ones but there so much more expensive! Plus I think the dots flood is discontinued.

    So, considering buying one of them, how do you like them after a year ? :)
    Still recommend them or did another one have issues ?

    What are those light stands called? Which one fits the fx?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 3 lety +2

      It's been so long since I recorded the video I had to go back and watch it to see what stands I had in the video. lol Here's a link for you: amzn.to/37EV799 They are usually sold as uplighting light stands. But I use them for front wash lights. It's an easy way to set your front lights on a speaker stack. Although I would recommend a little gaff tape to keep them in place.

    Potentially a good fixture but do not touch / buy them. Having purchased some 20 or so of the FX2 and FX and having had endless problems with the led chips burning out, I am advised by Chauvet that these are not a wash and in using them as one I am not using them properly - Ahem its called a wash! Only got some 10 hours out of 2 new FX 2 washes before both failed with chip failure - over heating! Total waste of money - so sad.
