The 2023 Juno Awards took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on March 13. Hosted by Simu Liu, it included performances by Tate McCrae, AP Dhillon, Tenille Townes, Alexisonfire, Aysanabee, Banx & Ranx, Preston Pablo, Rêve, Jessie Reyez, a special hip-hop tribute featuring Kardinal Offishall, Haviah Mighty, Michie Mee, Mel Boogie, Dream Warriors, Tobi, as well as a performance from Hall of Fame inductees Nickelback.

I was there last night watching this and it was such a privilege to witness such a historic moment in south Asian and Canadian music …. I got goosebumps watching him on stage.

I’ve been bumping to Punjabi rap since the summer and although I don’t understand the language, I love it! This is what reggaeton was to me circa 2003. So fresh now but I swear this will cross-over and blow up the way reggaeton has. I feel it!

I absolutely love how the whole world is now awake to how tapping on the Punjabi/Indian industry is a great business opportunity! The more west recognizes us, the more money they can make out of us and so can we. So it's just better to work together. Staying alone isn't going to sustain long, especially in these hard times and how the demographics are changing in the western countries anyways. Higher posts will be held by brown people too, so more representation by default too. Great!
