But it is the most rewarding thing and one of the most important ones to teach your children... to own up. That's how you gain respect, and not by yelling respect.

Actually the MUO is responsible for the blunder. The guy from the teleprompter asked Steve to read the next woman which is Colombia instead of annoucing Philippines first & the teleprompter congratulated Steve for his announcement! I think the telepromter betted alot of money for Colombia or he got paid millions to force Steve to announce the wrong winner.

Actually he made it worse. Ms Columbia should have never been on stage when it as announced that she wasn't Miss Universe. . As to his saying the guy on the teleprompter told him to read the next name that was what he was supposed to do. He was supposed to announce that Ms Columbia was the first runner up. That is the way it was written on the card and the way they have announced the winners for decades now. Steve did read the next name but instead of saying she was the first runner up he state she was Ms Universe. He either for got to add that detail or left it out on purpose. Now some of you people got it in your minds that the guy on the teleprompter made the mistake. Not true. Bottom line irregardless of what the guy on the teleprompter told him he is still supposed to read the card. Harvey is not owning up to his mistake when he spins it like he just did. if he really owned up to it he would resign.

It is a genius move actually if you think about it.
It was always his fault. The guy on his earpiece gave him the right instructions. He was supposed to read the first name and the information on the card. It named Ms Columbia as the first runner up. They always announce the name the first runner up "first" so that when the realization as to who the winner is comes at the same time as when the winner is announced. Harvey seemed to be totally ignorant of that fact and was just not prepared so that when he was given the verbal prompt he got confused and read Ms Columbia as the winner instead of as the first runner up. Harvey is either trying to spin the story to avoid responsibility or he is so stupid he still doesn't get what they were trying to tell him. He must totally be dependent on his prompters on his own show.

Steve was forgiven and he did the right thing to went back out and announced Miss Philippines was the real winner indeed!!:) The Philippines will host the next Miss Universe next month. Our Miss Universe, Pia will have a proper walk with her crown live in front of millions of viewers around the globe. I can't wait!!!!:)

She’s entitled to that, while the runner-up at the beginning got pictures and videos of herself wearing the crown when she didn’t deserve any of it. Then of course the runner-up had the audacity to say that SHE got robbed!

not everyone gets it, while anouncing the winner there's this thing thats connected to his ears from a device thats clipped on him(kinda like a phone and an earphones.) then there's also this thing in front of him like a tv (i think you call it a teleport or smthng) it said "and the next miss universe is --- (blank) then on the paper he's holding it said miss philippines and miss colombia. The guy speaking on the ear thing said say the next one. now, NOW! (which is miss colombia)
what he did is so brave, he fixed a problem he didn't do, considering the fact he's on national TV and infront of the whole world. Tbh when this happened I was like "this guy is so stupid he's just gonna read like wtf." but i learned my lesson. He's a great man that deserves respect.
Now that is not the truth. He was not prepared so he did not understand what the guy in his ear was reminding off. They always announce the first runner up before the announce the winner. The first name on the list was the listed as the first runner up which was Miss Columbia. The guy was telling him to announce the first runner up the first name on the list. Harvey who obviously did not prepare did not know the sequence they announce the winners in assumed that the winner was the first name on the list. But it was clearly listed as the first runner up. Had he read the card he would have realized that. So he messed up two ways. He was not prepared because he did not know the sequence that they announced the winner. And two he did not read the card. Had he done either this problem would not have occured. These guys just think they can walk in with out preparation and listen to their staff to do their job for them. On this sort of show they can not put everything on the teleprompter. Read the card and he would have been fine.
