@@nicholaszanker-close1573 we don't have crocs/alligators where I currently live but I always have mine leashed to my belt or staked away from the water. last thing I need is for him to get stuck on some guy's left over fishing line and rusty hooks. He's just small enough that I could see a really big catfish grabbing his leg or something too.

I'm fishing from my raft this weekend and testing out the new dry bag.
As an American those “jacks” are mangrove snappers. Lives in mangrove, part of snapper family. Nice catches though!!
We call then mangrove jacks or jacks for short :)
ive never even caught them in mangroves only on sand flats and under docks

tylan there are acutally a different species. Jacks are more ferocious, more territorial, grow bigger and are more elusive but I've heard taste wise they are quite similair. Similair story with our spanish mackerel to your king mackerel. Cheers

In the south we call them mangrove snapper biggest one I caught was inshore 19 1/2 off of a shrimp head
take some small top water toys and do here again someday... it would make some fantastic footage.. maybe set up 2 cams.. 1 on you and another near zoom towards the water surface which you will be popping or swishing around..
