    The Tisas D10 10mm by SDS Imports is a cheap 1911 chambered in 10mm for budget minded enthusiasts. Is this the best 10mm 1911 for the money or is there a better option? In this video review I go over whether or not this Turkish 10mm 1911 is a good bang for your buck and if it is worth it. This affordable 10mm 1911 might not be as "affordable" as you'd hope.

      Same, I picked up the B45 Duty as my first 1911, gutted it and dropped in all WC Bulletproof internals, beaver, safety, and hand fitted everything... Took some time but now I have perfectly serviceable Tool steel internals as spare parts and mine runs amazingly... Lil Beaver S*it talking Tisas won't hurt the brand for me, I'll be picking up the Tisas D10 w/rails and the 407kX2 for an optic, should be a ton of fun

      While I don't have plans to purchase another Tisas any time soon, I'd be happy to give Tisas another shot and review a different 1911. If you would like to send one my way for review I can be reached on Instagram or by email (both in the video description.) Thanks for leaving a comment! SDS/Tisas is lucky to have you!

      You shouldn't have to rely on CZcams reviews or customers complaing to make a better product. The people making them and your quality control people should have caught these issues and fixed/improved them before setting them aside for shipment. Your customers are NOT your quality control test subjects. Your product should be in excellent working condition prior to leaving your facility.

      My Tisas 1911 A-1 is a truly great piece of work! No problems. Equals the reliability and performance of my 1911 produced in 1918. No small feat. Better than much more expensive big name 1911s that I own. My original "Black Colt" is an all original family bring back from the First World War. I bought the Tisas after I was convinced by much research that Tisas was really a quality product. The Tisas is my new Coach Pistol. (Truck Gun)
      The original Colt was just too valuable. This Tisas 1911A-1 is the perfect replacement for this firearm.

      then you will absolutely, without doubt find problems with merchandise from ALL the manufacturers. Before long, SDS and Tisas will be at the top of the marketplace in the
      manufacture and quality of their firearms...write this down!

    Your experience does not mirror mine. My D10 has the best out-of-the-box trigger of any factory 1911 I've owned and that's well into double digits. Of the three 1911 10mm pistols I've owned, (D10, Kimber Stainless II and Fusion Firearms Long Slide) the D10 is easily the most accurate. It's been 100% reliable. The only problem I've had is the grip screws backed out a little and a bit of fingernail polish has taken care of that. So my take on the D10 is positive.

    I have several of their .45 versions and they are fantastic, most of them have far superior fit and finish to my more expensive 1911s. The D10 would make a good project gun given it’s forged frame and receiver. Thanks for the honest review on this firearm! And yeah, those issues are a deal breaker for me as I would not be happy to spend $700+ for a gun that may lack the quality of my $500 TISAS pistols.

    I have one of thier 45 carry commander sized pistols. Fit and finish are really good. It was pretty tight out of the box but has loosened up a bit after a couple hundred rounds. It is accurate and hits where aimed. I did have about a dozen feed failures early on. I retensioned the extractor and polished it as well as polished the breechface. Its about 90 percent reliable now. The mags it comes with are crap. I will try some wilson combat mags and see if that brings it up to 100 percent. If not it may be goung back for repair. All in all for the 300 bucks i payed its not bad.

    Wow, my LGS has a ton of Tisas and just got in the D10's finally. I picked one up and I have to say I haven't had a single issue like you have. And out of all the Tisas 1911's I have fingered, and boughten, not ONE has a slide that is that loose nor have any of my (4) Tisas had those issues or any issues for that matter. Seems like you drew the shit end of the stick unfortunately but glad to see you document a case of a bad gun, and what SDS did to fix it. I would be pretty upset with my purchase as well if my gun was like yours. Especially given how well the other ones I have ran for me.
    Personally, I'm glad that they did the checkering, the G10 grips and the Bomar cut rear sight. All those are QOL updates that I wish they put on their basic models as well. The G10 being the one choice I think should be standard on all Tisas. Yes, they aren't as nice as my VZ grips, but the base models really ought to come with no grips at all because that's how worthless the stock grips are. I've been looking at doing the front strap checkering on my B45 and its going to be $145 for the checkering, than another $110 to refinish the frame. If I wanted bomar cut sights thats another 85 + 95 for refinish. And the VZ grips I bought were $75. Thats a LOT of extra money if you do it yourself for what I consider to be a decent and fair price from the factory.
    To be fair, I don't mind the extra money in customization of my Tisas, and every one of my Tisas I have spent the cost of the gun in parts for the gun. Triggers, grips, refinishes, hammers, magwells, slide stops, thumb saftey, grip safteys, new slide... I don't change these out because they are bad but because I love to tinker and make the guns my own, and so far the forged frame IMO has been the perfect starting point for a 1911 build. And I have been lucky so far with nothing but great products from them. Just for some perspective my parts list right now totals to $550 for my D10. That isn't including the LPA Fiber optic rear sights, the red fiber optic inserts for the rear sight, the front fiber optic sight (Those three will be about 150) need to also have the slide engraved (custom engraving) and the slide than refinished. Probably another $200 since I have sent my engraver a bunch of work and cerakote jobs.
    Anyways great video and Im glad you are upfront about your experience.

    • @NightwoodGuns
      @NightwoodGuns  Před rokem +3

      Thank you for taking the time to write up your experience for anyone that takes a trip down to the comment section. My experience is the only one I can speak for, and getting two crappy ones back-to-back was insane to me, lol. A few of my buddies have the Milspec and Duty models and I have been really impressed with them for the price.
      If my D10 had a good fit/finish and was reliable, I’d be a little happier with it at 750 bucks considering the features. But man, I just had two bad examples back to back. And it hits me even harder because I’m playing with my own money on this channel, I don’t get free guns like some other channels. And throwing 750 into a lackluster 1911 is different than throwing 400 bucks at one. As a consumer, I was pretty let down. You’d think they would have checked the second one over a bit more regardless of whether or not it was headed to a CZcams channel.
      I think Tisas make for great project/starter 1911s with their forged parts and series 70 internals. I was pretty bummed that the D10 just didn’t work out for me. I’m glad that you are happy with yours, though! 👍

      @tgsphantom Před rokem +1

      @@NightwoodGuns No problem, it's good to hear experiences from everyone who owns these guns. Personally, I always go to the bad reviews over the good ones to kind of see what to expect and unfortunately theres not many for SDS so it either means they have a relatively good QC, or it means those who buy them simply get rid of them with the slightest problems... and I understand your pain of having to supply the guns yourself. In a sense it's better that way for a true test of the company's guns (Look at the prodigy and how all the reviewers got great guns but the actual guns that went to market have tons of issues) but it just sucks that much more when you get a lemon.
      I can appreciate the fact that SDS made good on their warranty, but I almost feel as if they went the easy route for the gun they gave you back. "It can't malfunction if we give it a looser tolerance." I get that 1911's were originally pretty loose guns to account for debris and actual fighting. But like you said for $750 street price it's a bit upsetting to be sent something THAT loose. And when you say it was 2 different guns did, they have 2 separate serial numbers? Or is it possible they sent you a new top end on your original frame?
      Have you sent them another email about the gun? They may tell you to kick rocks, but I would be interested to hear what they say about it being so loose now. Either way it's a huge let down that you got 2 bad ones in a row (one on functionality, other on fit and finish)
      Either way I'm disappointed that this was what you got for your first own Tisas, and even more disappointed that they sent that back to you and called it good.

    • @NightwoodGuns
      @NightwoodGuns  Před rokem +1

      I completely agree with your assessment 👍 Well said! And it was a completely different gun with a brand new serial number. I didn’t reach back out to SDS because I was already a total 7 weeks into testing/fixing the gun and I was ready to move on and recoup some funds. Sold it and ended up losing about $100. I totally understand being curious about what they would’ve done, but seeing as it would have taken another 5 weeks to find out… I was ready to cut my losses. I’m not opposed to getting another Tisas… but I would get a much cheaper model and I would check it over thoroughly before filling out the 4473. Thanks again for your input 👍

    Not interested in 10mm, but I do have a stingray in 9mm, and a PX-9 duty. Bothare exceptional firearms for very little money, and have had no reliability problems with either. Sometimes issues slip through the cracks, but from everything Ive seen SDS is always willing to help and make the customer 100% whole. It's a good thing because there are brands with much more prestige that seem to do very little to help their customers without a lot of hassling. Tisas is great and they have a place right next to my Arex, Sig, Walther, and Beretta pistols.

    I haven't shot one of these but will say that a lot of different gun manufacturers seem to have a hard time making a good 1911 10mm. I own several and actually got a dud from Springfield armory in an RO Elite a few years back the gun had the same issue as your first gun with the jams i figured out the issue was a small lip at the top of the feed ramp where it leads into the chamber. I fixed the issue myself and its very reliable now but never should have left the factory the way it was. I paid 950 for that gun. You want a 1911 10mm that wont give you issues go with a Dan Wesson Razorback but its 2x the price I had 2 failure to feed in the first 100 rounds due to the tight tolerances but have put another 1000 rounds through it since without a single issue.

    I want a reliable double stack 10mm 1911 for 1500 or less. Do you have any experience with the RIA 1911s? I know you can get them worked over by Hayes Custom.

    • @KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop
      @KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop Před rokem +3

      The only area RIA lacks in is fit and finish, that is small parts and aesthetic quality. Sometimes slide/frame fit and barrel fit. They save a lot of money on parkerizing their guns over other types of finishes and internals can be sloppy as they aren't exactly gone over by a skilled gunsmith. You're likely to get a heavier than normal trigger, loose slides, and it's very likely that not all of the lugs on the barrel will lock up (this is common on all "mid" and "budget" tier 1911s though) and worst case scenario I've heard of RIAs with feed ramps having a bad cut and causing feeding issues. If you're willing to upgrade your internal components like with a Nighthawk DTS you should be good to go. Any problems with your barrel feed ramp can be remedied by warranty service. We know a guy who has both a Staccato XC and an RIA HC he's done a good bit of custom work with and he competes with the RIA, is actually looking for a buyer for the XC.

    • @NightwoodGuns
      @NightwoodGuns  Před rokem +1

      The RIA double stack 10mm I shot was pretty unreliable. I would definitely expect to have it worked over. I would prioritize tuning the mags or getting better ones. Unfortunately, the best double stack 10mms are Glocks 😬 I’d love to see Staccato make a double stack 10mm, though.

    I bought one about 3 months ago for only $600. I had over $200 in gift cards I used that day. I’ve had no problems either and I used aftermarket mags, too - Chip McCormick 9 round mags. I will say that the gun seemed it needed a tranquilizer it was sprung so tight. Loosened some with some Rem Oil on the slide, as well as on the mag release button and about 50 rounds down range and I can rack the slide without a mechanical engineering degree. I have several other 1911s I openly EDC - a Sig ultra compact TacOps version in .45 Auto and a Ruger Lightweight Commander in .45 Auto and a Springfield RO Compact in 9mm - and don’t intend to EDC the Tisas EVER. If I decide I want to carry something in 10mm I have several others I intend to carry. But, I’m not looking for the most expensive gun to buy - if I see some good looking guns I decide I want I’m not averse to buying 2-3 guns at a time. It’s perfectly legal in my state and has never been questioned at the time of purchase. After 5 months of hospitalization last year (surgical) my first day home I went out and bought 2 handguns to treat my steel withdrawal. The only gun I ever convinced myself I needed (wanted?) at great expense has been a Sig P2XX in 10mm but at $1500 they are always sold out when I go shopping for firearms - how unlucky can a guy be?

      Springfield is forged. RIA is cast, but it’s not like Rock Islands are cracking and breaking all over the place. Tisas has less MIM parts than Springfield, though. I hear Tisas are typically great, I just had two bad ones back to back. Including one that’s was hand picked from the warehouse. I think the cheaper Tisas would make great starter/builder 1911s since they are forged. But for the price of the D10, it should work and not be as sloppy, in my opinion.

    5" 1911s in 10mm are known for beating themselves apart. Ask anyone who has owned a Delta Elite how long it took for that gun to start shaking itself apart and in some cases completely imploding. That's why the 6" 1911 10mm's took off so well, the extra reciprocating mass helps to tame that round. If you are going to spend any appreciable amount of time shooting 1911s and putting tons of rounds through them (no matter the caliber), get used to Slide Rattle, it will show up in every 1911 eventually. Personally, I'd never suggest a cast frame 1911 over a forged frame 1911, you lost me there.

      Dude what why be an asshole, people appreciate reviews like this i know I do. I've been looking at this gun for a while finally found for less than 650 decided to do more research on whether or not it's worth buying and stuff like this is good to see when making decisions you want to hear the good and especially the bad when it comes to a company like tisas who usually makes solid guns.

    I recently bought a Tisas 10mm. I have no complaints. However this was possibly the worst gun review I've watched yet. He gave no needed information just kept whining about it raddles. Almost ever gun I own has a raddle if you shake it hard enough .

      I recently made this CZcams Channel. I have no complaints. However this was possibly the worst comment I’ve read yet. All he did was whine about a free video that no one forced him to watch and he can’t even spell rattle two times back to back. Almost every commenter can spell rattle if you look at all of them.
