He's such a chameleon...his voice sounds different in almost every song. Definitely an underrated talent....wonder what could have been if he had lived longer. At least some of his solo work is available to us fans.
Mo had the richest. Smooth. Quality.in tone LOVED his deep voice. Ooohh. So sexy.... He had the best rhythm in his delivery and during all their concerts ...always ON POINT with every song they sang. He was only one who had a sense of "dancing" to whatever beat .......

@@miauvader6823thank you for this list. Some of them I have never heard of. There are several others I wonder if he was at least partial lead are songs like "Paradise" and "Baby As You Turn Away"? His voice was so simular to Barry's that there are times I am not quite sure who I am hearing. There are many times too that I am discovering that Mo did quite a few of their addlibs from way back before 1974 even. As I watch much of their performances I would hear something that sounded awesome so I look back to see who it was and it was Maurice. He was so adorable too. I just simply loved him, still do.
Yet,another song I have never heard! Beautiful song, beautiful voice! Mo had gifts that were seldom seen. His ability to play almost any instrument, self taught , is astounding in itself. Miss all of the guys!
Just listened again today, August 2022, and OMG, the song is even greater, and the singer is 1000 times better!!STILL LOVE YOU MO AND MISS YOUR WONDERFUL VOICE AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE💔💔💔😞😞
MAURICE ERNEST, had a GREAT VOICE, so did ROBIN & so does our BARRY. A GREAT SONG this is, thank you, RIP MAURICE ERNEST GIBB, I heard this song when I was a youngster , many moons ago, lol.
Saludos
I know this must have been a very early recording of our wonderful Mo. He seemed to have had it all. It was a gift for sure. No matter what was needed from him, he delivered it in a way that only he could bring it. I still shed tears when I watch and listen to him perform in the concert videos, or just interviews we are so blessed to see. I believe God took him, because He wanted him in Heaven to teach angels to sing, and then welcomed Robin to join in. . Just waiting for Barry to finish his work here on earth, and then he will join his brothers to have God's beautiful harmony back where they first started. At least that's my ideas, and I'm stick' to 'um! What that must sound like now in that realm. Beautiful in every way. Love and miss Maurice and Robin. ❤ 😊 Deme in Bama.
No, I think it was Brian Hyland who sang "Sealed with a Kiss" - but I don't know exactly when ... but I think the Bee Gees were into those late "50s and early '60s pop love songs quite a bit. "Sealed with a Kiss" might have influenced this recording.
I don't know if that influenced him, but I doubt it. In the 50's twins were 10 or under. But, I must say that Nothing will replace Brian Hyland's "Sealed with a Kiss" I loved It but haven't thought of it in years. Maurice tried but no hit material here. I love Mo, just being honest. His instrumentals for Breed Apart soundtrack are totally awesome! And he played the piano on Seven Seas Symphony on Odessa album and was great!
This was not Maurice's in his best I agree. He sounded different here, but is OK. Yes the instrumentals for that soundtrack is totally the best. If only the movie was would have made it big on Box Office who knows maybe his music could had been consider for an Oscar Buzz. He was a excellent writer for instrumentals.
juie anderson nothing wrong with it. His voice is hauntingly pleasant. Melody catchy. He was so underrated. Always in Barry’s shadow. He too could sing falsetto. In Barry’s own words Maurice could harmonise with anyone. RIP Maurice Robin and Andy.

Wow, doesn't sound like Maurice too much! When was this song recorded? Mo must've been pretty young at the time. Later, his voice deepened, lowered in pitch and became smoother, more mellow. I like this, though ... it's reminiscent of pop songs from the early '60s ... especially one ... but I can't quite put my finger on it.

The song was recorded by the Bee Gees in Australia in 1966. It was one of the few songs not written by them but by a member of another group. That was an arrangement in which the brothers or Barry wrote a song for that group (which I believe was Steve and the Board) and a member of that group returned the favor. It is Maurice on lead vocals and reminiscent of "Sealed with a Kiss." The song is one of a number of Australia compositions that have never been released in the US but has been released in Australia and several other countries. It is available on "Brilliant from Birth," which has 65(!) Australian compositions and covers on two discs. And about Maurice, he was the musical chameleon of the group as a vocalist. Maurice and Barry were sometimes considered to be vocal twins, because of Maurice's great ability for mimicking. He could sing in Barry's range and sometimes took the high harmonies on some of Barry's songs or sometimes dualed for Barry's voice, where you think you were hearing Barry but actually hearing Maurice. Then, there were songs like "Lonely Winter" where it doesn't sound like Maurice but actually is. Maurice had a better range than he was ever given credit for but I think on his later songs with the baritone to bass voices, that was to distinguish himself from Barry and Robin. Ironically, Barry and Robin claimed that some of the later Maurice-sung songs was actually written and sung by them, but written with the view of Maurice singing them. That included songs like "Omega Man," which was sung by Barry in falsetto, and "Love Never Dies" and "Giving Up the Ghost." Robin sang the verse on LND but had Maurice sing the song's chorus. And it was almost the same on GUTG: Robin sings the verse and Maurice sings the bridge. It was a way of involving him more on the vocals since Barry and Robin still tended to dominate the vocals department.
Maurice lead single "Omega Man" was written by him. All is lead singing vocals song were his songs or the head writer. "Wildflower " Mo was leading vocals and the only song by him from "Living Eyes".
Hate to burst your bubble here, but "Omega Man" was first sung by Barry in falsetto. For whatever reasons, the results were unsatisfactory and Maurice took a crack at the lead vocal. It's possible Barry and Robin may have planned for the song to be sung by Maurice and Barry's unhappiness with his vocal was just a ruse to get Maurice to sing it. One reason suggested Maurice didn't sing many of the leads was that he didn't write the lyrics. The brothers seemed to suggest in the 60s that Barry and Robin wrote the lyrics while Maurice came up with the melodies. During their brief solo careers, Maurice wrote with his then brother-in-law, Billy Lawrie. But, the brothers also said whoever sung a song the best was tapped as the lead singer. I suspect Barry and Robin had certain songs they intended to sing but there were other songs where the lead vocals were determined by who performed the song the best. That was the case on "Omega Man."
No, You need to do some homework, Barry did not start his falsetto until R&B producer" Arif Mardin" ask the Bee Gees "who want to try and do a falsetto and Barry had no idea he had a falsetto voice! Jessy Myrle.Yes, he is very sexy and the finest looking guy around - always was, is and will be!!!
Maurice's voice resembles to Barry's in this song.
Jessie. Yep. He Certainly owned his own. All three had their seperate sex appeal. But combined. They were unsurpassable.....
Love this sexy guy!
Maurice had the sweetest, softest voice. I think it represented what he was really like. Miss you, our dear Mo.
He never failed to do solos from this all the way to Man in the Middle!
And ironically. Sang the highest note in their harmonies.....that tells you his enormous range of talent
Yes, sang the highest with headvoice, not falsetto.
He's such a chameleon...his voice sounds different in almost every song. Definitely an underrated talent....wonder what could have been if he had lived longer. At least some of his solo work is available to us fans.
