Just recieved my Neptune Plus...end of Feb, 2024, firmare was updated thank goodness, no crunch or grind sound... Thanks for your video's, it helped me select this brand for my 1st printer.
I'm waiting on mine to ship. Excited to try this out
@@gruffmadnessi hope it goes well for u! I have had mine for over a month now and I love it! I suggest staying away from cura for this printer. I used cura and it gave me alot of issues like gaps in my prints and weird seams. Switched to prusaslicer (which still has tree supports as well) and the printer now prints perfectly.
Cura doesnt seem to work well with klipper. It did work fine on my marlin printers though.
My Neptune 4 max just showed up 10 minutes ago! What excelllent timing.
How are you finding it?
Because of your channel I'm an Elegoo fan I had the 3 plus and planning to get the 4 Max around december.
Exactty the 2 I got!
Just out of curiosity how well were the esteps calibrated from the factory? My Neptune 3 Plus default would feed 90mm of filament for the 100mm that I wanted. Once I fine tuned it, I haven’t had a printer I’ve owned print better.
I adore my Neptune 4 pro, I adore the steel rails, was kinda hoping the new versions would have that option 😕 oh well, I can still wait 😂
I was reading the specs on these machines and I am happy they have a much more powerful heater, so when you can put a 0.8 nozzle on there, it can keep up with the flow rate!
Assembly very badly, Elegoo garantee don't exist - remember.
Attention, don't buy this garba.. . Elegoo does not accept such a thing as a warranty, I have already met a dozen or so people who cannot repair their printers or return defective equipment.
@user-mh4bi1nj5x i dont know what your talking about , they get back to me very fast with emails and they have replaced every part that i have had issues with, they have replaced the hot end the extruder gears and the led lights and now its working great. They are in different time zone so sometimes you just have to wait half a day and they emailed me everyday for about 2 qeeks until i got it fixed
You are the man. My 4 plus is great... I have to slow the thing down for the smaller, more detailed prints. I am just getting used to the Cura functionality, eventually I will try the Orca slicer.. The instant availablility to print from the program looks promising. Thanks again for the videos, keep em' commin.
Fantastic! I'm looking forward to having a peek at those Nep 4 Max profiles, my Max is showing up on Wednesday and I'm extremely excited to deal with its massive bulk lol
Just got mine yesterday, so excited to set it up!
Thanks for this video. Am about to get me one. Only question i have is about the space i need on the table.
How many cm in depth, width and height does the printer need?
Have to build a noise"canceling" enclosure since i live in flat. Thanks.
Hi, Interesting, about the fan panel, the option to disable them is for high speed printing? always have the fans on the extruder for defect?
Would love to see more videos for the Elegoo 4 Plus. I pre-ordered mine and cant wait. Will be ly first. I do plan to try and figure out the web cam thing, and also plan to learn every piece of it
I received a pre-order 4-Plus directly from Elegoo this past Saturday (11 September) which has the exact x and Y axis noise issues Jessy talks about. I did the preloaded test print of the Buddha which came out perfect and I also printed a complicated large file of my own that came out absolutely perfect in-spite of the grinding noises. I thought it would be an easy fix based on Jessy's recommendation of using The Feral Engineer's process. His video was watched several times, taking lots of notes and the guidance he offered was followed to-the-letter. Long story short - I now have a two day old printer that still grinds in both axis, when homing the hot end rams into the bed and it has become impossible to level. Moral of the story - I hope your printer does not have the axis issues and if it does, live with it because the prints it did produce were amazing. If you do have issues and are able to resolve them via the Feral Engineer's process, PLEASE post how you did it. It's a great printer.
Great review Man love your style of videos 🎉
You talked me into a Neptune 4 Max! Thank you! But a lil lost on what settings i should use in cutter program. Know where i could go?
Would you recommend the 4 plus as a first printer?
Hello! new to your channel and I love the information you provide. Thank you for all that you do. Quick question, I'm obsessed with the blue/purple filament. in the video I thought you said it is "elegoos galaxy black" and I can't seem to find it anywhere. wondering if you could send a link? Thanks so much
Would love to see some videos on usage of ABS filament with the Nepture 4 Max without an enclosure. It's massive size (practical massive as opposed to the ridiculous Orange Storm which 90% of people don't have room for) is ideal for Cosplay Cosume Parts (from Helmets to Armor to Props) which typically do not require high level detail and instead are large enough in which detail wil come from sanding and painting the piece.
So, logically ABS printing those parts seems most logical to have something that won't break or melt if you are going to a Convention in Las Vegas or anywhere in Flordia during the summer!
Hey Jessy. I just purchased a Neptune 3 Max mine actually came w/ an insulated pad on the print bed. This may be a updated item from Elegoo moving forward not sure. Keep up the great videos always a big help to the community
Excellent video. I preordered mine a week or two ago. There was a comment awhile back where someone had found some compatible nozzles on aliexpress. Fortunately I can make some myself in 0.6 or larger once I get a hold of a first one, but hopefully they’ll have that sorted by the time it arrives. I haven’t watched the video on setting up homing on Klipper yet but if it’s anything like Marlin it should be pretty easy to adjust the sensitivity where it can be done live with M codes.
Thanks for this, and *great* timing! My Neptune 4 Max just showed up a couple hours ago. I guess I can print a life-size human skeleton now. :D
Congrats, I just got mine yesterday!
Do mind share how you so you set orcaSlicer profile for Neptune 4 plus? I'm using v1.8.0 rc2 and the 4 plus profile is the one that is missing.
love this i have the plus on order but dsnt ship til november here in the uk but its cool to see what i will have to work with great video
Great info - thank you for posting!
Question: I am seeing an increase in 3D print Owners putting their printers in enclosures. Would you say that the Neptune Max in an enclosure would print any better - or allow for different settings to be taken advantage of?
Love the video! Curious about the loudness of the fans, I have a couple printers but had planned to sell off my old cr10s to get a 3 or 4 max but didn't know how much louder they'd be to use while I'm working on phone calls etc, currently not an issue
Haha. Oh boy. They are loud. Not earrape loud but imagine an early 2010 PC with 100% fan speed on all chassis fans.
They’re quite loud at full speed, but Voice Isolation does the trick.
Good review, thank you! How would you describe Elegoos choice to use only 85C hotbed in the MAX, while the smaller ones go over 100C? That limits the usage of filaments badly in my opinion. Sure they claim the printhead goes to 300C and can print ABS, Nylon,, etc. but because of the hotbed limitations this is a sketchy claim from them...
Hey, I wanted to try the orca slicer. But there is no Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus or Max to choose from. How did you work around it?
i just downloaded the latest version and it has both printers
Hello. How do I add the 4 MAX to orca slicer? I do not see it on the list. Thanks
What perfect timing! My MAX is currently out for delivery so this couldn't have posted more perfectly.
Really great video. Might have to sell my Sovol SV03 to get one of these Elegoos.
Great video you have the settings for the 4 pro I just got that one and I'm new to Orca
Here is the issue with people who shill for print companies. When Jesse talks about the "non-standard nozzle" he uses really fluffy terminology and kind brushes it off. Whereas in reality, this could be a potentially huge issue. Hoping some third party or Elegoo will create enough to satisfy the market is a terrible strategy. What is worse it that your printer might find itself to be obsolete in a few months.
What if Elegoo goes back to a standard nozzle? What if there are supply issues? What if Third party manufacturers simply don't care to make them? You could be a stuck with a printer that can't ever print again unless you find a way to completely replace the hot end.
This isn't just something you mention in passing. It is potentially a major issue and as much as I like Jesse's videos, this really comes across as an advertisement rather than informing consumers.
You think Jessy is a shill for print companies? That's a pretty nasty thing to say. Now I've got that off my chest, the nozzle isn't a big deal really as you could just fit whatever hot end you wanted - a Volcano for example.
@@robsims6352that's a terrible solution! Nozzle worn out? Let's replace the entire hot end
great video again! my max is in dhl hands so im very exited but..... i really want to see your progress on that marvelous magneto statue you print few months ago. how its going?
Hi Jesse and thank you for the review. I am new to Elegoo and 3D Printing and saw on Elegoo's site that the Neptune 4 Plus does not have a Filament Run Out Sensor... do you know if an aftermarket one can be added or do I not need one because the Orca Slicer will handle the filament count? Thank you!
There seems to be conflicting info from Elegoo support on this. However, based on the photos on their site and the model in this video, it does in fact have a filament sensor.
@@terrencemarks1287 I received mine and yes it has the sensor. Thank you!
just bought that galaxy black i didnt know that was your post ! thanks for the recommend
Where did you get that from? It is not listed on the webpage or on Amazon.
Do you know if these machines also have a 24V connector on the back like the Neptune 4?
would you recommend putting linear rails on a n3+ ?
would orca slicer profile for neptune 4 pro work for 4 max as well?
i have the nep 4 pro im haven the tuning problem stringy do you have or know videos to go where i can fine tune it plz
Just got my Max yesterday, looking forward to more content from you! I’m going to go back and watch most of your tutorials and guides for setup and use, as this is my first 3D printer. For a new person starting on the 4 Max, what is the best piece of advice by chance?
Sorry for the long message. Hopefully, i didn't miss a video about this, and hopefully, this is seen by Uncle jessy. But have you ever used glass filler for scratches on the screen of a resin printer to repair it instead of replacing the screen. I'm still new to resin printing and forgot to put a screen protector on my saturn s and the clean up put scratches on the screen and now it doesn't print well in the area of the scratches and I was curious if a glass filler would be a viable and cheaper fix then replacing the assembly all together.
Could we see it side by side with the bambu x1 as I'm torn between a bed slinger vs core xy
looking slicer profile for cura or orca. Any suggestion?
Do u like these better then the k1 max. I know they are very different but I had a tonnnn of issues with my k1 max and want to get the 4 pro
from one issues to another issues, be carrerfule with Elegoo - guarantee don't exist.
I just got my Neptune 3 pro from Amazon's October prime day, or whatever they're calling it, and it was so quick to set up and get to printing compared to my super modded ender 3 pro.
I will 100% suggest Elegoo's newer FDM machines over Creality's machines for newbies in the 3D printing space.
What if I'm experienced. I've had my Anet A8, now AM8 for 5.5 years and something on the motherboard just failed and I'm kind of done fixing everything that fails by buying a replacement. I was thinking of getting the neptune 4 plus, as it prints faster, probably better, and has a larger print volume. I liked tinkering with my AM8, but I'm afraid I don't have too much freedom with this kind of printer maybe. What do you think?
@@themechanic6151Over 4 years of experience here on my modded Ender 3. As much fun as it is to thinker with Ender there also is a need for a printer that has most important of my mods and just works. That's why I've ordered Neptune 4 Plus. Ender will be for fun and Neptune to do the job.
@TheOscylO yeah my biggest concern with N4 plus is people's complaints about the software and how the bed knobs just flex the bed instead of raising or lowering it. Also another concern is that to print at those fast speeds, I need to have rapid PLA? Otherwise it's just a standard printer?
Neptune 4 max was printing well. Hit home after a print and when it went down, z to touch the build plate, it started grinding. any clue?
Did it leave a dent in the print bed? I know my sunlu s9 plus i used to have did this sometimes.
I'd tell it to home and it would entirely ignore the bl touch and smash the head full force into the bed and grind a bunch. And then i had to pull the plug and then turn it back on and home again.
Wonder if your printer was doing the same thing.
@nascarsimracing1 no, I was right there and hit the power switch. The sensor was angled incorrectly.
I just found your channel because i am getting my first printer. Would you say the 4 p,us can do a full size star wars stormtrooper helmet without any problem?
Where can I buy that Galaxy Black (I'm in MO, USA)? It's not listed on amazon or the elegoo website anywhere I could find 😢
I've asked the same thing. I found other companies that have a Galaxy black. But not one from what Uncle Jesse's been talking about.
do you have the orca slicer profile for a Neptune 4?
Thanks for posting the fix for the homing issue! I was just looking for a solution for this: 😊 1:33
Please watch both videos regarding the homing issue before attempting the mod 😺
10:00 YES PLEASE! I would LOVE love love configuration files for the 4 Max on OrcaSlicer. This is my first 3d printer and I have a lot to learn before I can guess at settings with skill.
Hy do you have the profile for the neptune 4 plus at the orca slicer? Im a beginner.
I’m having trouble getting to the printer 🖨️ center correctly on the bed. The auto homing is way off is there a way to fix this issue?
Should I get one of these of the a1 mini
I think that if you did the configuration change to fix that, then *also* update the firmware later, you *might* have to restore those settings to their original values. With that in mind, I would probably do the firmware update instead of the config change.
I did both. The firmware update undoes the changes, but also has different values than previously. There is also something clearly different in the way the steppers are driven as they are louder, but the homing issues seem to be mostly fixed.
What filament did you use to print the blue mask at the beginning? It looks amazing!
It’s Elegoo’s new galaxy black PLA
Hey Uncle Jessy, how did you get the Phantasm Mask files. I went to 3D craftsman and signed up for membership. There is no where for me to download the file. Do I have to purchase just the file itself?
I just got my Neptune 4 plus and I downloaded orca slicer. I see all the Neptunes except the 4 plus. How do I get the 4 plus on orca slicer?
I'm not a fan of the false marketing about The Neptune 4 Max being able to print PLA/PETG/ABS/TPU/Nylon Filaments. Having a 85 degree bed relegates you to PLA, PETG, and TPU. The bed temp for ABS and Nylon are kind of a stretch unless you print blends with your fingers crossed, and some glue; not to mention you would also need an enclosure(makes sense). I wish they made a version with at-least a 100c bed, ideally a 120c bed. I realize that the power supply would need an upgrade too.
When I got my max, the bed was so loose that it just popped off. I had to completely disassemble and reassemble it to get it attached. I found a couple of worrying things during that process. One, the bed isn't floating in the way you'd expect when coming from other 3d printers. There are actually two spacers that attached the bed to the carriage in the center of the bed creating a fixed center point. So the leveling wheels don't really level at all. They're just flexing the bed around that center point. The other is some weirdness around the rollers on the bed carriage. There are six in total, three on a side. On one side you've got three eccentric nuts for adjustment. On the other, you only have one eccentric nut, the other two rollers are fixed. With how sloppy the tolerances were I had to adjust the nuts all the way in to actually grip the rails, leaving the two fixed rollers just hanging in air doing nothing.
6 point bed bending 💀
It's fine if you don't wind the knobs in all the way. I wind the knobs in equally until the centre nut just touched the insulation, then I wind the knobs back out by three turns each.
When i unboxed a sovol sv07 plus, the wheels had fallen off of the bed already
@6:31 Where can we get this Galaxy Black? Not finding it on Amazon nor through Elegoo directly. Appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks @Uncle Jessy
its called burnt titanium, i have a roll
Can you use an app on your phone to stop the print if you are not home?
I would love to see videos on orca slicer!
What kind of filament is this? it looks so cool!
Ok good thing I checked your video
Nozzle heatsup really fast! But bed takes like 5 minutes to heatup 😅
I would be so happy to do all this with my Plus and Max if I didn't just get an Email from Elegoo saying my PLUS and MAX are delayed till sometime "..in the month of November". I PRE-ORDERED ON LAUNCH DAY!!
Those are cool and all, but I seriously hope you are in talks with Elegoo to test and review their OrangeStorm Giga. I want to see that beast in action.
One thing I'm having trouble tracking down for the new range is the footprint you need to clear to cope with the moving table. So many places just give you the dimensions of a surface you need to support the feet, not how much space you need to make sure the table doesn't smack into the wall when it's working.
I don't suppose anyone has those figures to hand?
Just measured my 4 Max, the full sweep of the bed is 37 inches. It's 27.5 inches wide and 30 inches tall without the spool holder, I've got it on the bottom shelf of a 48" x 24" shelving unit and had to put a 2x4 on the floor in front of it to give it enough room to move. It's a beast.
You need about eight inches of clearance behind the printer to avoid wall smacking.
760mm from the front feet to the furthest the bed goes backwards for the max
Watch adjusting the driver settings. I did that on mine and it decided to home in reverse and bury the extruder into the back right side of the bed. Otherwise setting the speed to 20 for x/y homing worked for me. Elegoo has sent me a firmware to try that I haven't had much time to check out yet that seems like it may have fixed the homing problem.
It didn't home in reverse - the settings triggered a false positive. You can't just plug the values in from the video (the author says as much at the beginning of the video) - you have to tune the values to suit your particular printer.
@@robsims6352 ...Whether it's is called homing in reverse or not, that's what the result was with the addition of burrying itself in the bed. I didn't use his figures either, but after 1 time of it doing that I wasn't interested in attempting it any more when I already knew just slowing the homing down was working well enough.
@@xaranthius1415 how did you slow the homing, is that option in klipper settings?
@boom-rh2wv in the printer config file you can access in the web interface. Same place the video takes you too. Been a few but im pretty sure the vid also tells you about the homing settings also.
😂the downside to getting the Max in their first round, is I see all your info updates well after I've had some of the issues/questions about mine at start up. I'm still new to filament, so I've got a lot more to do, which you'll definitely be informative for me with however. I hate my ender 3 pro (mostly due to user error) , so I'm determined to make this one work.
Thanks for your viedeos :D
Do you know when we'll see a Neptune 4 Max profile in Orca?
My max will be here Monday!
Excellent video, Thanks for sharing!
Sensorless Homing is what these printers have, what that does is Klipper (and the Mobo) can sense when the draw of the stepper motor increases/spikes when the head (or bed) hits the end. However it does sound like the early firmware, more like the printer.cfg file isn't programmed correctly and the sensitivity is set too low.
Voron printers can do this too and its been a popular thing in the community, thought I do prefer still having the physical endstop switches in my 2.4 350.
I just set up my Neptune 4 Max and this video notification popped up 😅
just ordered my max today :)
I hope Elegoo releases hardened steel nozzles. We could use a couple of 4 Max printed to print large PLA-CF parts that do not need any support material. For larger part sizes that do not fit in the Bambu X1C’s
Surely thats something that taking the nozzle to your hardware or specialist plumbing or metalwork shop can fix?
Is it possible to print TPE with this printer?
Been running an Ender 5 pro for a couple years now and I’ve accepted I need something with a larger print volume and a faster speed. Thinking the Neptune 4 max
What site did you get Orca slicer from? All the places I see look fake
Are you having by chance Z-Axis issue whilst printing, due maybe to the bed wheels getting lose?
Thanks for plugging my Patreon❤ ! Love you work as always! I'll continue to make bigger and better props🤘🤘🤘
I have heard that the standard neptune 4 has a bad tollerance, meaning mechanical parts with a precision of around 0.25mm can be off and not work correctly. Have you done a tollerance test with the plus and max?
I've heard this too and have seen a vid showing the error after printing a small tube. The error was 0.2 so the tube wasn't exactly round so I would like to know if this is a one-off, hardware/software or user problem. Or is it just one model of the Neptune 4 that is affected?
I am thinking of getting the Elegoo 4 plus or maybe the max if I can stretch it but if it is a hardware problem then I shall have to go elsewhere.
Great video!!!
Can you share your profile for orca? Thanks
Commenting to support the channel and the video and that amazing hair of yours. Be well be you
How do you get the Neptune 4 Plus profile for the Orca Slicer?
You make one.
@@robsims6352 🫤
I'm trying to decide between the 3 plus and the 4 plus as my next printer (probably in the new year) and I noticed the 4 has slightly smaller build height and I was going to be using the larger build plate for cosplay helmets and whatnot and will that slightly smaller build make a big difference and go with the speed or buy a 3 plus and just use a pi with klipper?
I recently switched my ender 5 over to klipper and while I"m still tweaking things I have already saved 10-15 hours worth of print time while not reducing quality at my last project.
I received the 4 Plus this past Saturday (11 September) directly from Elegoo and it has the X and Y axis end stop issues Jessy talks about. Nevertheless, it did a super job printing the test Budha and a fantastic job of printing one of my own large files. Absolutely perfect print in spite of the grinding. I should have left it alone and waited to hear back from Elegoo support to see what they recommended. But I got in a hurry (first mistake) and went ahead and set up the wireless and (second mistake) followed the guidance to use the Feral Engineer's process for "fixing" the problem. Long story short - following his guidance to-the-letter nothing he recommended worked. Multiple hot-end crashes into the bed that required turning off the machine to stop. The X and Y end stop grinding noises continued. As it turned out, I now own a three-day old useless printer that when turned on displays a message in the touch screen that says the Klipper software is messed up. It won't even boot up to do a factory reset. Ironiocally this is the second Neptune 4 that has not worked. The difference being the first one (4 Pro) was purchased through Amazon and returned because of very uneven bed heating that caused numerous print failures. (Third mistake) I should have waited until Amazon started carrying the 4 plus. It would be well on its way back from whence it came.
@@leskeffel9512 Sad to see that many people got the same problem. I'm planning to get a 3d printer too, my first one specifically, and I was thinking about the Neptune 4 Plus, but.. I don't know.. Except for that one problem with the axis, I've also read about a few Neptune 4 Pro which were defective, having a problem on the axis allignment, and I'm now thinking a lot about it, in case that the Plus model will also have the same problem.
Update to my last response...DO NOT BUY the 4 Plus, here's why - had a massive print failure yesterday that messed up the extruder so badly it's not repairable and needs to be replaced. Here's the catch, there are apparently no spare parts out there for this thing. I even checked the Elegoo site and the only extruders available are for the Neptune 3 series. This is the second time this thing has been shut down since receiving it maybe a week ago. I think it's time to box it up and send it back, Elegoo supposedly has a 14 day return policy. I have two Ender 3 S1 Pros and an Ender 3 S1 Plus that are doing great and have readily available spare parts. I should have gotten another S1 plus, but was lured in by the speed of the Elegoo. Lesson learned to never buy a brand new product as soon as it's released and has not been on the market for a while.
@@leskeffel1986 I just saw this on frankly builts channel, his max did the same thing and he's not recommending it over the 3.
@@leskeffel1986 Thank you for letting us know about that! I hope you'll be able to get your money back.
Any update on the availability of your N4Max Profiles?
How does the Neptune 4 max compare to the Neptune 3 max?
Doors the Neptune 4 plus have a segmented bed? Also, do you think the Neptune 4 plus is the best sub $400 printer available now? It seems like it to me, thought I'd ask in case there's something I'm missing.
No it does not have a segmented bed
Whats the difference between this and the Neptune 3 Plus/Pro?
Jessy did you get the Magneto X preordered already?
If i want to become a atreon supporter for the config file when do you think those will be up?
Uncle Jessy!! You got the connect with elegoo!! are all the issues going to be fixed with a new firmware or are we doomed? By issues I mean the axis crashes and the nozzle crashing printed parts etc... Can you ask them for us please!
It doesn't need fixing in the firmware - you can tune those settings yourself in printer.cfg
My Neptune 4 don’t print with Orca Slicer… Any sugestion? Please.
Do you think you could do a video showing how loud the Neptune 4+ is without the turbo fans printing at a normal speed?
Loud, from my project room to my bed (10m) and through 2 doors you will still hear it
Neptune 4 Pro, Neptune 4 Plus (to get wifi) or Bambu Lab A1 mini for a comparable priced bedslinger?
My 4 Max is shaking so bad the pla is unspooling. I have tried multiple surfaces and leveled over and over. Did yours do this?
Have you run the input shaping calibration?
Thank you for your reply. I got it figured out. It was a stupid loose bolt. My Neptune 3 worked so well right away it spoiled me. I learned a ton more about the machine this time around at least.
I will also look into your suggestion. Thank you.
Hi Guys, would u buy the Neptune 4/4 Pro or the Neptune 3Max ?
Here in Europe the Neptune 3Max is about 255€. Or is the new Neptune 4 (260€) and the 4Pro about 310€ the better option?
Update on the life size supervillain coming soon??
I love my neptune 4 plus. After switching from Ender 3v2 to Neptun 4 plus I don't need any other printer. Finally I can print big objects.
