According to the DVD series interview I have, Alucard was supposed to have a Romanian accent in this series... I don't think I could have taken it as seriously. XD
He got an accent when he released control art restriction level 0, and it sounded really awesome. Still, I think you're right, it would have sounded ridiculously forced, especially in that scene where he's taunting Valentine.
Given that he's been living with people who don't have accents like that it makes sense he doesn't either until he transforms into Vlad Tepes, his most pure self.

Ok, I first ran into the TFS dub, but honestly it's nice to see that beyond speaking more in Kek, the character really didn't fall that far from the tree.
I'm 'very' happy that when Funimation dubbed Hellsing OVAs 5-8, they got Crispin Freeman back as Alucard. I hope you check them out. And personally, I think Crispin Freeman is actually an even better Alucard voice than Joji Nakata.
D is the dark and emotionless Prince Charming type, while Alucard plays the exccentric psychopath (he is more of a gentleman in the 1st series). All in all, both of them are drama queens

I'm 'very' happy that when Funimation dubbed Hellsing OVAs 5-8, they got Crispin Freeman back as Alucard. I hope you check them out.
And personally, I think Crispin Freeman is actually an even better Alucard voice than Joji Nakata.

D is the dark and emotionless Prince Charming type, while Alucard plays the exccentric psychopath (he is more of a gentleman in the 1st series). All in all, both of them are drama queens
