Much love to Zinni and H3CZ for talking about it for a solid amount of time. If anyone here is struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar - whatever it is - please know that it will eventually get better. Take it a day at a time, an hour at a time, a minute at a time. This man Zinni is on the right side of depression and anxiety. I genuinely feel that he understands true depression, and when he says things like “at the end of the day, its up to you change, you have to really want it.” That means alot to me, cuz i dont think he says that out of ignorance, it feels genuine and real and more like motivation than anything else. I think he understands that its very hard for alot of people to make a change, but he still tries to preach motivation and i respect that alot. Zin is a good man, he’s utilizing his position to speak out about a disease that many of us have and it’s commendable to say the least.

Was listening to the this on Spotify while mowing the lawns and had to come over. Listening to both of you keeping it extremely real and talking about some of the effects that the internet and social media has on us all. I’m 24 and I don’t have it figured out and I struggle daily with looking at pictures of my peers that I grew up with that seem as if they’re more successful than me. It’s fucking hard and I think a lot more people deal with it than we think. Keep it up HecZ and Zinni just the conversation does wonders ❤️

I really appreciate your words zinni. Im 25, struggling to finish an engineering degree, working internships for little pay to build some credibility, working in restaurants to fill gaps, all while seeing all the people i graduated highschool with finishing school, getting good jobs, buying their starter homes, some are continuing their education and getting their masters and/or PHDs. Its hard not to compare yourself to other people and feel like shit for it. Youre right though. Even though other people seem to be ahead of me, you saying that helped me realize that theres no reason to compare my peers' acomplishments to mine yet because im not done. I know ill be there some day, just gotta put my head down and work on myself. Youre the man zin ❤

I definitely get and appreciate what y’all are saying about social media, it’s been overall a positive for me personally, but I absolutely see where you both are coming from. I’m also lucky in that it isn’t my job so I can disconnect whenever I want and not *have* to get on it if I’m not feeling it. I live in the middle of nowhere and can’t drive due to my vision and don’t have many irl friends and none that I have a ton in common with (not a lot of CoD, Halo, etc fans here in the boonies), so the majority of who I consider my friends, are those that I’ve made through gaming, Twitter, getting involved in other communities, etc, so without social media I’m just kinda alone. I’m also very liberal with the block and mute buttons, I treat social media as an escape from the real world, so any topics or people that are gonna put me in a negative headspace get blocked or muted (love the muted words feature of Twitter, wish it was a thing on every social media platform)

You guys are not alone, I was let go from my job of 5 years a couple months ago. I thought I was doing great, making good money, and putting in hard work. When I got let go, I immediately started questioning everything in my life. Went to a dark place for a couple weeks, then started hitting the gym and I lost 40ish pounds, still grinding the gym and trying to get healthy. I'm now streaming MWIII and making content on CZcams, trying to grow and make it.

I whole heartedly agree with Hecz when it comes to SBMM. I started playing COD as a little ass kid in MW2 the original. NOWADAYS there is WAYYYYYYYYY more people playing Call Of Duty and in a business sense it makes so much sense to match lower skilled players in lobbies with players on the same level. I love how Hecz mentions matching up with better players..raging and still ITCHING to get better and get as good as the players that make you rage. With that being said, as someone that has put so much time into COD and eventually got good at the game, it is sometimes so rage inducing to have to sweat in more matches than not. But in the same sentiment, in MW3 the current game while I’m raging, it makes me want to play better and make better decisions on the map and just simply learn the game. If SBMM DIDN’T exist, all of the good players would ruin the experience for new players and players that are just simply not good, and thats not fair man. Of course there’s days i wanna get on and listen to music and just have fun, but thats not realistic. Realistically the more you understand the game and the better you are at the game, the more freedom you have to listen to music and relax cuz your thumbs are conditioned to deal with sweats. I dominated MW2 last year, that game was easy to be the top guy. This game is harder because of the TTK, and it pisses me off sometimes but it brings that feeling back for me. I love this game so far, spawns absolutely need to be fixed but MW3 is a great game so far.

W Zin. Speaking facts. Social media has definitely ruined everything imo. I love the internet and the easier it has made our lives but social media i think is a toxic addition we have all grown to be obsessed with and its getting more toxic by the day. I wish it was all gone tbf. How in 2023 trolls are still able to be a thing and arent made to show the true identity really baffles me. Companies just care about their clicks and impressions and it will probably never change. Best thing i ever did was delete them all.

Nice pod liked the perspective about money equaling happiness and the lies surrounding that. Money is a tool to use to improve aspects of your life but it cannot buy happiness. Thinking of happiness like a product at a supermarket is paradoxical and only leads to unhappiness. Just look at all the unhappy rich people in Beverly Hills where enough is never enough vs the happy poor kid in a third world country that's used to his circumstances and doesn't question them.

Sbmm convo was a huge waste of time. Methodz was 100% correct. Sweaty is for ranked, wanting to get better is for ranked, pubs are for grinding camos and challenges, trying goofy or trolly loadouts.
There is nowhere for that now. Even war mode is an absolute sweat fest. If I use a sniper (which I suck with) I'll drop like 5-10 kills. Its not only frustrating but it's boring too.
I'm a shit player and I can say 100% that sbmm the way it is now is awful, you don't need to be good to think that

  • @RambinoYT
    @RambinoYT Před 6 měsíci +1

Remove 1 Million attachments (Bring back Pick 10)
Dumb down the attachments back to old days, give me Red Dot and Grip
Tone down Aim Assist to what it once was where it actually takes skills to aim (Create Skillgap)
Remove all the climbing/mantling/ledges/hanging on ledges etc bullshit (Bring back actual skillful jumping and timings to jumping)
Make the perk system better and add perks that challenges Ninja so it's not as dominant
    Bring back NONE Disbanding lobbies
Do these changes and we are in a better place.
And to argue what Hutch said and what Methodz tried to defend.
As a former competitive player who has been to Lan, competed and won money. The point we sweaty people have is that back in the days there was no SBMM. It was Free for All, this made the system more enjoyable because you would have to sweat sometimes which is not as bad as having to sweat every lobby. Now us sweaty players find ourselves playing less and less because every lobby feels like we are playing for Money/Prop Points or whatever. Gives us back the Free For All and have it be sweaty lobbies sometimes, that's where the term ''let me put my tryhard pants on'' came from. When i started playing in 2008 On Call of Duty 4 i was horrible and got stomped.....i was forced with 3 choices. (1) Quit like a fucking loser (2) Adapt and get better (3) Take the dick and accept im ass.
Now a days people are protected, we not only as a game...but society is shielding and protecting everything. It's bullshit, we are handing people free shit. We are making killstreaks easy for people, we are making killing easy for everyone, we are making aim assist easy for people to get kills. Call of Duty is handing everything to people. There was no mantling or hanging back in the days, if you wanted to do something along does line you had to do it yourself. You had to jump, you had to strafe, you had to have the perfect jump timing, you had to have the perfect landing and not go to far. Mantling has made anything climbable, vaultable etc. I find myself jumping on the stupidest shit ever that i dont wanna climb or jump on because they wanna do everything for me or feel the need to help me when i don't want it. Now the game aims for me, back in the days you actually had to aim (Go back and watch the pro's play the Hitch throwback tournament and see the pro's struggle to aim! It's stupid how they have made it. They need to go back to the old days and dumb shit down HARD. Make it like they did back in the days. No mantling/hanging or that shit, red dots on the map, better perk system, tone down the 1 million attachments, great 3 lane maps like the old ones (not the new shit they brough back that they changed and added spots and shit to)
Dont even get me started on skins and how fucking difficult they are to spot.........

    • @gjhath
      @gjhath Před 6 měsíci

Ur either stupid or havent played the game in 6 years... The aim assist back in the day was super strong and it kicked in super early. Wich is why if you watch some old cwl clips it will look like they arent hitting a single shot. Nowadays everyone is better at cod because there is more pro scenes so everyone wants to become better and maybe even become a pro and if you dont like the cdl then maybe you like world series of warzone. Its like fortnite, everyone was shit for 2 years then everyone wanted to become better because of all the tournaments

Yeah pubs aren't meant for sweating. There are challenges to complete, camos to collect, guns to level up. I don't want to have to use a meta loadout just to survive in a pub match, let me have some fun holy shit

I think the point is it’s a catch 22 the people watching pod cast like this and even talking about SBMM aren’t the people it’s made to help. The 9 - 5 dad that jumps on after work doesn’t realize the reason he is able to get some kills in his match is because Activision made a system to help you fight people you can kill.

@@jtesting922 good or bad, and regardless of how it used to be, the system wasn’t made for you or me or Zinni or anyone who even knows it exists. The people it was made for have no idea it’s even a thing, they probably also don’t realize their controller is doing most of the aiming for them.

Hutch is wrong right? Without SBMM, there’s a bigger variety within games which means everyone sort of has a chance, and if not the next game, you probably would have a better team/worse opponent. SBMM means that everyone in the lobby has to try hard, no matter the skill level. Tell me if I’m wrong

Back in the day there was sbmm as well however there would be a mix of difficulty among the players which was extremely fun cus you could sometimes play against tryhards, middle of the pack players, or burgers walkers. In todays sbmm its not that i cant keep up tbh i could try my ass off every game but id just tire out sooner. another thing is if i do want to play against bots i can easily manipulate sbmm its not that hard, the point is, is that pubs shouldnt feel like rank.

54:23 that's the most insignificant thing I've heard this entire podcast. People who don't like you are the people who truly see the flaws in you & don't hesitate to bash you. YES, it hurts & YES it is negative. . . . but what do us as PEOPLE do with the negatives? . . . . turn them into POSITIVES without tooting your own horn & acting oblivious about it. Feel like i'm starting to understand the OpTic memo.

I think the distinction that people mean to make when they oppose SBMM is that:
    1. COD used to be an arcade fps, which was what made it so appealing to everyone. In my own definition, that effectively meant you could drop in with the trolliest loadout and still stomp because you have acquired the game sense and map knowledge to outplay others despite your weapon choice. People would play in whatever way they like, but being cringe with a target finder LMG camping was mutually frowned upon, even though it'd be free cheese. Nowadays its celebrated to use the most overkill-esc class, as if doing good with it wasn't already the obvious outcome. Of course, its your own problem if you're not using everything at your disposal to be your best (meta guns, etc). But this idea of "Meta" was never a term that was even used back in the day. I'd say social media and content creation has poisoned that concept, but at the same time content creation in COD has always existed - it was just never a worthy topic of content creation. So maybe its a culture shift?
From a sniping or trickshotting perspective, you'd practice your aim/centering and then combine that with an acquired map knowledge of learning how to funnel enemies into a spawn trap/position yourself for clips. There's so much cheese now, just slap on damage-altering attachments and outgun fundamentally better players (leaving no room for trolly sniper scopes or variation, because you have to meta build or you just get outgunned even when you shoot first).
    2. the problem isn't that skilled players cant hang at their own level. The SBMM algorithm is just fundamentally wrong. Ranked Play is supposed to be the pinnacle of fair and/or challenging gunplay. You're in 4mans of like-minded players who are there with the same competitive intent and ideally are calling out or cooperating to compete against 4 other like-minded players. In pubs, you're 6v6 with a mix of people who aren't cooperating or working toward a similar goal. Everyone's on their own side quest. Which is how its supposed to be! But when you get the shitters on your team and the enemy is trying their hardest for no good reason, its impossible to match up bc you're only just one man... against 6 gods - especially with the weird spawn systems lately.
Your lobbies will consist of some GOATS and some other people who just spammed decoys for 10 games to level guns or players who have riot shields on their backs, all of which get excessive score per minute that have no relation to their map knowledge or gun skill - yet putting them at the same "sbmm" in the eyes of the algorithm.
Let's say you wanted to warm up for Ranked. At a certain point, you'd want to face skilled players to get quality warmup, but at first you want to shake off the dust and not go full tryhard right away. There's no levels to it anymore, just right away facing people who give you a run for your money. Or lets say you are sweating off rip, but then later on you wanna decompress with some music and vibes. Well now your SBMM has flagged you as a high skilled player and you're stuck in lobbies having to sound whore and focus like an MLG tourney. You can still have fun, especially in this COD, but once the grind is over its nice to be able to play for other intrinsic purposes than just sweating for no greater reason. EX: Sniping from a perch became too easy, so people evolved and started trying to time spins and mechanics into it (trickshots), or going for consecutive kills in the feed with various steez (sniping feeds). SBMM, spawns, and the non-traditional map layouts have set things like sniping culture back 15 years. MFs are 360 hardscoping and getting 2mil views on tiktok. No disrespect, content is content buuuutttt...
    3. Then there's a whole problem with reverse boosting, etc. where certain people spend hours throwing ELO to fake some content and post it without context - making them look a lot better than reality. IDK how this affects me, but it's frustrating and cringe to see. Or you see that one guy on tiktok whose spamming excessive and pointless slide and movement to look like GOAT, meanwhile they are literally bronze elo players. But there's no public stats anymore to even be able to point out like "ya you're not actually HIM, you're just a low elo player. That wouldn't work in higher skill base". Whereas if there wasn't SBMM, everyone has the same luck of the draw with their lobbies to either face challenging opponents or get bot lobbies and pull off silly moves like that.
I digress. I know it's probably simple: The "bad players" just aren't as bad as they used to be, making less of a disparity in the general skill gap of pub lobbies.

Easy fix is that u have ranked, then social SSBM, and then social non SSBM. Bcz sometimes I wanna have a hard game that’s not as sweaty as ranked and then sometimes I wanna be able to party with my friends that don’t really play without them getting destroyed every game.

With the SBMM and hutch tweet my response would be it ruins the fun. In og mw3 there was always the randomness when I loaded into every game, I could drop a nuke or the other team coukd you never knew. I never cared about getting clapped but I always knew it was random wether or not the players were better. Now every time I que a lobby I know for a fact I will never get a nuke and neither will the other team and it takes the fun out. No one streaks no one randomly pops off.

I love the SBMM debate. But no one has ever thought about it like this…
If everyone that plays pubs want to be able to just chill out and not have to “sweat”, you’re literally playing against people that have the same goal as you. Only ONE person can have the highest k/d, only ONE team can have the win. So naturally, in your head you want the win, and you want the k/d so even if you’re just chilling or vibing out, there’s still that human element of competition. No matter what, subconsciously you are still “trying”.
The devs can work whatever algorithm they want to for matchmaking, but they can never control the behavior in the lobbies of the players playing the game. So like it or not, there are going to be people that want to win every match. There will always be at least one person in the lobby who plays as much as you do and is good at the game.
What people should try to change is their attitudes towards winning and losing. If you go into pubs and just want to chill, you need to keep that energy whether you win or lose, and regardless of where you are on the leaderboards. Have the mindset that the numbers and stats just don’t matter because it’s pubs right? Who cares about results in pubs, because THAT is why ranked mode exists. Because in ranked, results actually matter.
I welcome any debate or feedback on these thoughts 😅
