    Check out the new Gen 3 drill driver combo from Milwaukee! The hammer drill and impact driver are powered by an amazing 5Ah lithium-ion battery. In this video, you will see the tools put through some tests and how they perform right out of the box. The cost is $379, which includes (2) batteries, hammer drill, impact driver, battery charger, storage carrying case, and a quick mount handle for the hammer drill. The model number of this set is 2997-22. I also compare how amazing the Gen 3 hammer drill compares to my 10 year old 18v Milwaukee drill. The new one is way more compact, lighter in weight, and not nearly as long.
    Check out all the Milwaukee drill reviews on The Home Depot site. They're either a 4.5 star or 5 star review on average.
    Question of the day: What's the most demanding job you would use these tools for? Would you use the bit holder or take it off? Thanks!

    Thank you for the review, Mark! I just bought a Milwaukee impact driver and drill that was sold as part of a combo kit with two batteries, bag and charger. Got an 18 piece driver bit set for free with the purchase too! It was on sale for $149.99 at Farm and Fleet in Wisconsin. That was a great deal!
    I have tried them out and they work great! I know a few folks who are very handy with tools and they all swear by either Milwaukee or Dewalt. Those seem to be the top two brands for quality and durability of toolwork.
    Thanks again for the review! Keep up the good work!

      I think you'll like it. I'm debating about taking the bit holder off, since it sticks out. My 10 year old Milwaukee hammer drill has a recessed bit holder, which I prefer. The new one is much lighter and a real powerhouse!

      I honestly think I value mileage over horsepower when it comes to cordless drivers. I added bit holders to both of mine since they didn’t come with them. I have a bad habit of leaving my bits out of reach...problem solved.

      I would use the drill for electrical rough- in where I’m running a big auger bit. I would use the impact for driving lags, tightening anchor bolts, driving deck screws, etc

    Would you recommend using the impact driver for drilling holes for concrete wedge anchors?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 2 lety

      No a impact driver isn't meant for that type of application, but it may work in concrete block if you have a decent masonry bit. I recommend the hammer drill for drilling into concrete, especially poured wall concrete.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 5 lety

      That's a good question. I recommend testing it out by starting on a low number and working your way up. Screwing into drywall for the lowest setting and then go up from there, depending what material your going into. Hope that helps!

      ghettocereal I actually think it is too fast for my liking, speed 2 is my max... I always find myself torturing the Surge which I find is the perfect tool due to its low noise and controllability. I work mostly inside. This new one, I've been driving hefty screws and lags it for cement forms like crazy and it does get warm, not burning hot and similarly to the Dewalts impact, and it's just fabulous for that app... my go to remains the Surge though.
