The Cast Cyclone is a puzzle in which each of the four individual pieces interlock with the other three. While all the pieces initially look the same, there are in fact two different kinds of pieces. The design of each ring has been carefully calculated, highly restricting the amount of possible movement and creating an extremely puzzling puzzle - a creative addition to a long line of challenging puzzles by Hanayama!
Puzzle Master is a Canadian distributor of a large assortment of disentanglement puzzles, wood puzzles, cast puzzles, metal puzzles, wire puzzles, brain teasers, jigsaw puzzles, puzzle boxes, puzzle rings, trick puzzle locks, maze puzzles, puzzle games, boomerangs, chess sets, and other great toys, puzzles and games. The company started because of an interest the owner, Allan Stein, had in collecting wire puzzles. Allan collected these puzzles for a few years before he thought of making them himself. Once he found out that he was able to make the puzzles successfully he thought "Why don’t I try to sell some of the puzzles at craft shows and see if there are people who like them as much as I do". At the craft shows he found that not only did the people like the puzzles, they loved them. These craft shows were the first way that Puzzle Master marketed these puzzles.
After selling at the craft shows for a few years, Allan decided to try and sell at some of the malls in Saskatoon. He rented a temporary location two weeks prior to Christmas and was totally amazed how quickly the puzzles sold. He subsequently ran out of the puzzles in 7 days. It was at that point that he realized that he had a business that was going to be viable. To this day we still have many businesses who sell at temporary locations a few weeks prior to Christmas.
In the beginning Allan made traditional puzzles that had been invented hundreds and even thousands of years ago. Now Allan is taking those traditional designs and adding his own unique touch.
Now Puzzle Master is the number one seller of puzzles online in the world.

Great explanation! There's no way I could have explained it better. Great Video Ross

This puzzle was a nightmare as I couldn't solve it even with your good video. The problem was that the first crossing of the two tips did not work even with a lot of force. The side notches in the rings were somehow too small to give the space in them for the needed space expansion of the two counterparts. I tried a lot but did not succeed. After a rather massive force action I could finally solve everything from each other and have the too narrow notches with a metal file very slightly expanded and then everything went much better but still somewhat tight. In your video, these notches look much larger than in my silver / gold version.

Hey, I know your comment is quite old, but I have the exact same problem. My version is shinier than the one used in the video, so maybe in that version the notches are not correct?!

If the puzzle was delivered fully assembled, that contradicts your claim about side notches being too small. It would not have been possible to assemble the pieces at the manufacturer, if the side notches were too small. In my experience, it is extremely difficult to achieve the perfect alignment of all 4 pieces, that is required for solving the first step of the puzzle without applying any force. But if your puzzle comes assembled, without any scratch marks indicating force was used, that should be sufficient proof that it is nothing wrong with the pieces.

@@ysteindamhaug2982 I managed to disassemble the puzzle, but had to apply some force (with a lot of friction) in order to solve the first stage.
So it is possible to get them apart, but definitely not as easily as I've seen in most videos showing the solution.

@@GetMeADrinkNowremember, every puzzle gets hand assembled together, so it always has to be solveable

The pieces have to be in the exact right position in order to do some of the moves.

That can be a lot of struggles if the pieces are not in the right position.
