No 7️⃣ Zootopia is still one of my favorite animated Disney movies and I really hope that Judy and Nick become more than just partners, and best friends in the sequel. I just found it odd now that there are absolutely no birds, reptiles, or primates like gorillas, or mountain apes in Zootopia at all like what is up with that anyway?
It is an atrocity that “Elemental” wasn’t included on this list. A realistic look at working a service job, growing up as a 1st generation from immigrant parents, dealing with a healthy & mature romantic partnership, and taking the first big steps in building your adult life are just a few of the these themes tackled in this underrated modern classic.
I knew it would be the tiniest bit good of a movie. And Pixar hardly ever disappoints

Yes, I like that Disney movies can continue to be watched by both children and adults. it's definitely what Walt wanted, because even he himself, even as an adult, knew how to imagine and be aware of the reality of the world. That is the balance that his movies achieve. That both as children and adults we enjoy the movies and learn, as children we see it in a way that amazes us with the story, and as adults, it becomes more meaningful for us

Riley breaking down in Inside Out hit me hard, as i have felt that feeling of being lost many times, especially with a constant mental health struggle, so kudos to the makers for that scene, it felt real to someone who has gone through that.
As an autistic ambivert, I didn’t know what a beautiful movie I was in for the first time. I was 22 going through a change of colleges but not being far from my family. I wasn’t happy with life after high school. But my new college allowed me to take life skills classes and take it essay. I may get anxiety but try sometimes to make myself happy. I’m 30 now, finished college during lockdown and still taking it easy.
The hunchback of Notre Dame for me is the most "adult" movie of Disney

Bias aside since it’s my favorite movie ever, I do feel like Tangled should’ve been included somewhere on the list. A film about the dangers of gaslighting and emotional abuse and how scary breaking away from that can be definitely needed at least an honorable mention! Though I agree with every movie that’s on the list also being here!! 💜
I know how you feel since it was the first Disney movie I watched as an 18 year old. Which made me relate to Rapunzel in that aspect.
I’m glad “The Lion King” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” made it to the list. They’re among my top 3 all time favorite Disney classics and surprisingly for the last decade I’ve been watching them a whole lot more than I ever did as a kid (I’m currently 31.5 years old), which definitely makes the point that they’re perfect for adults too!
Toy Story should’ve ended after the third movie. Andy saying goodbye to the toys is basically symbolic to the 90’s kids saying goodbye to our childhoods. ❤
Absolutely agree. Toy Story 4 was such a cash grab and it felt like the story just kept going for no reason.
I didn’t find TS4 as bad as everyone says it is. But nothing can beat 3.
My mother and I cried when we saw Coco, we went to see it after she passed away and Mama Coco reminded me of her so much. ❤❤❤❤❤
I have Grandma named Coco (short for Socorro) too! And the first time I saw Coco was with my dad. When Miguel sang to her, my dad got misty eyed. Something I rarely turn my head to see him do in a movie. Because it reminded him of his Mexican ancestry especially his Nana. My Grandpa came from across the border to America to make a living.
I graduated high school in 2010 when Toy Story 3 came out after having grown up watching the first two. I love 4 but, man, 3 was such a perfect ending.
I was finishing my sophomore year when it came out. And then a year after my graduation, Monsters University came out.
In the finding Nemo musical, there’s a bit where Prof. Ray says to the kids “are u ready?” when they were about to leave for the drop off and marlin says “ I don’t think I’m ready!”
I like INSIDE OUT and FINDING NEMO. I also love ENCANTO, COCO, ZOOTOPIA, TOY STORY 3, WALL-E, and UP.
Aladdin has quite a big message against trying to be something you’re not, and it also shows that being rich and/or royal isn’t all that good.
Pixar movies are known for being deep and emotional, but Coco took that to a whole new level. I'm surprised that movie didn't get a PG-13 rating.

I don’t think Pixar would make PG13 movies. There haven’t been many PG13 animated movies in general outside of Eight Crazy Nights, Beowulf and 9

It’s a shame it isn’t on this list. That movie is much better enjoyed if you understand the themes and it’s more intellectual than most animated films. I love that movie. That was the last animated film that I loved.

What I like about Disney is it also has movies that you can continue watching as an adult, my fav are: Coco (It is very deep and I would see it forever, remembering the loved ones who are gone here, but in reality they are alive, remembering them), Toy Story 3 (Now that I'm older I can't see it without being moved a lot more, remembering my childhood), Inside out (The lesson is always that sadness is part of life and learn to be empathetic=, The Lion King (Through this movie, I know that one day I will have to face the terrible pain and fear of losing a loved one, but I have to be brave and strong, remembering the lessons that I learned), Zootopia (I know that it is more about the importance of tolerance, but also through Judy, it teaches about striving again and again for our dreams and that they are for the good of others) and Encanto.. I never would to feel too old for Disney, no matter what others say

Another film I think is perfect for this list is Pixar’s “Brave” because it always reminds me of just how much me and my mom have become closer over the years compared to my teenage years when I hardly wanted anything to do with her because I felt like she wanted to control my life 24/7

I’m 30 and my favorites on this list are Encanto, Inside Out, Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo! I hope to never stop watching Disney movies. Each of them I had no idea how much love and care that was put into them. And they all came out in certain stages of my life.

Up strikes harder for me now that my grandmother has passed away and my grandfather is living alone. He doesn't want our help, but he has dementia and needs help taking his medication.
If I were you guys, I'd replace Encanto with Treasure Planet. It's an underrated masterpiece that touches on mature themes such as parental abandonment, the struggles of growing up as a teen, and the negative consequences of greed. It's definitely one of those timeless and unforgettable Disney classics in which grownups appreciate it more than kids do.
replace encanto why? THE movie of generational trauma? the movie people brought up with their therapists? The movie recommended BY therapists for patients to understand their own trauma? Treasure planet is great but don’t undermine how important encanto was when it came to identifying and understanding trauma. Not many Disney movies have had that same effect.
@@lilac3266 I've told you many times why Encanto's overrated, but you still refuse to take valid criticism towards that movie seriously. Encanto didn't do a very good job at handling generational trauma nor was it written and executed well.

I must say that right now I relate to Toy Story 3 the most. I’m 19 years old and I just graduated high school. I just started my first job. Well sorta. It’s non paying once a week volunteer at a school library but it’s still my first real “job”. We’re also about to move in the next couple of months. I’ve moved a whole lot in my life mainly in the last 7-8 years and I really wish we could have a stable, long term place to live. It’s hard. We’re going to move into our new condo in about a month so right now we’re packing things up, figuring out what to give up…I’ve been going through lots of things the past couple of days that I’ve had a long time trying to decide what to get rid of…It’s emotional.
Just remember that not all films are for children’s. It’s for everyone.☝🏼

The the thing is these are all relatively new films there are so many beautiful disney films that are full of wonder that are under rated that have the stunning disney animation that the new ones don't feel like that. I do love them but just don't have the same feel the old ones and just have as much good story lines and messages like fox and the hound, brother bear robin hood, jungle book, sword in the stone, black cauldron, bambi, rescuers, to name a few

Not Animated But Splash (1984) Atleast That gender swapped remake never got made I miss Touchstone Pictures made some great films they did like Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (1997)
Touchstone Pictures truly made really iconic movies that were for every demographic. Father of the Bride, Preacher’s Wife, Armageddon, Unbreakable, Signs, The Prestige, Wild Hogs etc.
And all of these movies made me cry 😢
For me it's Wreck-It Ralph I identify with the most.
He's a big guy, kind of clumsy, who doesn't get along with most of the people he knows, but there's one kid who he has a special place in his heart for, mostly because she's an oddity, like him.
She has a small glitch, but doesn't let it keep her down.
Love that movie insanely. It’s a shame that it lost Best Animated Feature.
It's one of the reasons why I keep Disney+.

Ironically, for toy story three came a pivotal time in my life where yes I was a child growing up for the first two movies came out but I wasn’t quite an adult yet when the third came out because I was only a junior in high school so only 11th grade says in the odd position between child in adult had to stop playing for college. We’re not quite fully ready to start paying for college at the same time either, let them fight. I got held back a year or the year after but the father came out right when I was getting to the point where I was warm and slightly younger than Andy in the third movie. When the third movie came out, I basically grew up with him as well. We were the same age ranges during these times in the movies for a fact, the third movie where he goes off to college, came out just a few years before it was hard for me to go off to college who hit way closer to home that like to admit, but was refreshing to see a character multiple characters that I grew up, with which that part of the life, not that much more before me is something that you don’t see that often in any media and when you do it’s not always easy to connect with either but toy story three hit that sweet spot was able to connect with it on social level and they did a good job with it
I’m an adult and I love Pinnochio, Bambi, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Dumbo, The Black Cauldron, The Fox and the Hound, and Pocahontas.
I hated the ending of Toy Story 3 because of Woody staying with the Gang at Bonnie's. I would rather see him go with Andy to college because that would bring more a message of transferring from being a kid to being an adult from my point of view

I have a love for cartoons and animated movies even as an adult. They help me get through tough times growing up dealing having autism, bullies that put me down but mostly having to deal with a toxic father. It's not that he was abusive most of my childhood he was a cool guy but things sort of changed when I became a college student years ago. He treated me like I was retarded, that I wouldn't survive being on my own as a adult because I still watch cartoons as a grown man. He thinks any adults who watches cartoons are meantaly retarded and handicapped and are not normal. I hated him for that until he sadly passed away in 2014 not knowing that I am doing great, I have friends and family who love me and treats me well and it doesn't matter to them that I still love cartoons because guess what? All of my friends and family young and old watches cartoons and its nothing to be ashamed of
I'm very sorry, yeah, there is absolutely nothing wrong with even watching animated movies as a grow-up.. Animated movies actually can help a lot, they are more than just drawings and colors, have more meanings and lessons behind it. I still love animated movies since my childhood and I want to keep doing, no matter what others say, It's sad that some people don't see it that way or more meaningful

# 1 should've been Toy Story 3 not Nemo -- watching TS3 you could hear so many grown men WEEPING in the movie theater. And it was a Best Picture Oscar nominee!
Hunchback should've been higher than # 9. It's stunning.
(Except for "A Guy Like You" which is worth skipping... Paris is on fire! Why is there a gargoyle song?!)
Toy Story 3 really was the perfect finale for the series. So glad they didn't make an unnecessary continuation that ruined that by having Bonnie immediately lose interest in Woody and Buzz make every decision literally by listening to his prerecorded voice lines.

People who saw the first Toy Story movie as a young kid would have been around Andy's age or stage of life when the third film hit theaters.
Russell was the kid Carl and Ellie desired and wanted to have while Carl was the parental figure Russell needed after his own father neglected him.

Big Hero 6 is meaningful to me because I was two years out of high school when it came out. And I’ve lost loved ones over the course of a year around the time.

Man, you got nine favorite Disney movies in a row well except Inside Out which doesn’t that much so I would say that adults should watch WALL-E and it’s consider the best stand alone Pixar film even released in Criterion (thanks for endorsing WALL-E for movie goers in Criterion general) felt more meaning about this movie.

I’m somewhat surprised that The Incredibles wasn’t mentioned. There’s a lot of backdrop that adults are likelier able to relate to or understand better - such as Bob’s job through insuricare or how awful his boss was - and all the money Dicker has to spend to wipe out memories if others notice Supers’ powers being used.
The Lion King story took a page out of Shakespeare's Hamlet.
That's what it's based off of. just like 10 things I hate about you was based on the Taming of the shrew.

One thing that bothersme about this list is again mixing Pixar with Disney animation. Yes, they're under the same name, but they're different franchises. Plus each deserve their own list.

While Finding Nemo is my favourite movie of all time and I like that it’s #1. But, I think The Incredibles or Fantasia should have taken the top spot over Finding Nemo. Those two are some of the most mature movies to have ever been made by the Mouse House and they are not even on the list.

To think, people are actually stupid enough to think that we have to stop liking TS3’s ending because TS4 exists. Yes, TS3 did lose a little bit of its meaning, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely ruined now! It’s still a heartwarming ending, even if it’s no longer the ending to the series!
Tangled is perfect for adults as well for kids.
Tangled is kind of an underrated movie. That was a part why I wanted to see Gigantic.
I was almost 18 when it came out. So seeing it as an 18 year old was symbolic as the plot revolves around Rapunzel becoming a woman.
