i’m so happy i’m alive in the era of d’angelo!
Voodoo is legend. Much respect.
Holy Shhh! They NEED to release those cover jams..
Some of them out there... unofficially...
I got some of m
@@seffyjanze Could you share them?
@@mpeka_ look up voodoo outtakes
So cool to hear that charlie hunter was on this album
How hip was deangelo to snag a 8 string jazz guitar player, and record on tape
The Root was the Gem on this Album!...when that tune played you can see these guyz just go into a trance...its so infectious it just get you feeling the unbalanced tempo..but it feel so Balanced & purposeful, its just a masterpiece which takes you to another level of Music...
Bless
My favorite track is the root but favorite album of D'Angelo. But also at the last track of the album voodoo, at the end of the song Africa the whole album rewinds back to the beginning just like Kendrick Lamar's Damn album's last track Duckworth ❤🖤🔥🌹
Inspiration
@@solomono.b6032 Wait did you just compare D'Angelo's track Africa to Kendrick Lamar ?Or the (under the cherry moon)
@@7thvenom neither. I'm saying K. Dot was probably inspired by D'Angelo
@@solomono.b6032 Ok sorry bout that bro
further, Voodoo fades into Things Fall Apart by the Roots!
Real talk real producers.... I love this. It's so educating. We need real more soul if we gon make it mankind.
totally
Yo this cat Russell Elevado cat is slick as a seals ass....cold as a 1970s aluminium ice tray !!
audio level is REALLY low on this particular recording... who is doing mixing over there?
Yeah it sounds like it’s literally unmastered. You turn it up, it sounds fire, but it’s like they didn’t use a limiter or anything
I love that story of him meeting Pino
LOST D'ANGELO TAPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
+bobby felder 'voodoo outtakes' check that out its a few songs that didn't make voodoo
Bruh
Best song ever
So, when will we get that deluxe box set?
How does he get that 'pew' sound from the kick and toms?
I got the JB covers sessions that they are talking about. And man that shit is dope
What songs?
the voodoo outtakes and extras? I have been looking for those. PLEASE share if you can :)
I need your email Jay
Hey please can I have these I will send you my email I need these
bro i need!
GENIUS. ..despite all the "...like..." in his vernacular. ..:D. Would consider sacrificing someone's favorite pinkie toe to just sit in a session with the "Dragon" (and, of course, D, ? and co)...Voodoo is of my #1 references for musical inspiration, doctrine, reproof and correction.
Hymn
this was like a like good like interview.
7:03
Who is the interviewer?
Современная классика
like x 100000000000000
Where the f88k is my box set???
can't hear anything
and now everyone uses pro tools lol
Screw pro tools
Because nowdays protools, the tech and compression algorithms have caught up. Back then shit sounded tinny and garbage esp when moving tracks onto other medias.
Not everyone...
@@PlayaflyJoe27 something tells me u never actually worked with tape
I record all my productions to 2 inch 24 track tape. At a great studio here in Brooklyn NYC...
Did the interviewer have somewhere else to be?
Completely distracted rude.
Must have ADD.
This is great but his constant "like like like" is distracting
He sheds it towards the end I think he was just nervous
Can't stand it, didn't make it to the end because of it.
Every 10 words "like"... Horrible
If you actually gave a shit about Voodoo, you wouldn't care
what do YOU know about Voodoo or ANYTHING?
It's improbable that you would know more than me about D'angelo records
I call your bluff. You're a newbie fan. I've BEEN a fan 2 decades strong
I don't trust you either! What a coincidence! Welcome to the internet
Voodoo mixing was awful
czcams.com/video/ZVg0yoKMulM/video.html
Yes, it's such a bad mix indeed. The drums are so loud and the other instruments are buried including the vocals. It's like this was a rough mix done by an assistant engineer at the end of long night session who loved the drum sounds and decided to turn it way up .
Did not like Voodoo at all. I don't see nor hear what was so special about this very disjointed project.
to each his own, but that album is considered a classic r&b/soul album that paved the way for the neo-soul movement. The album oozes so much groove and soul but whatever
You trash. Easy. Go buy new ears.
you are entitled to your own opinion but if you lived it in real time, it was revolutionary, and it stands the test of time like few records of the era
Ur prob the first and last person ill ever hear say that
upful LIFE I’m a 95 born baby and I’m getting on D’angelo back in ‘13 my jr year of HS and this album is the best album I’ve ever heard... best MUSIC I’ve ever heard.... D’s vocals, to the transitions, to the band, etc.... crazyyyyyy!!!
daaaamn!! what is the name of that last track????
The Root, from the album Voodoo:)
