Fix Your Original NES So It Reads Your Cartridges with the Arcadeworks Blinking Light Win Mod

  • In this video we show you how to resurrect your old 1980's era Nintendo Entertainment System to make sure it will read your games with the installation of the Arcadeworks Blinking Light Win.
    Retro video games are huge right now, from NES and SNES Classic Systems, Clone Hardware and more. But what if you really want to play YOUR NES, you know the one you had in your bedroom as a kid? It never works, it never reads games right, just toss it, right? WRONG! There's a super-easy and budget friendly fix out there called the Blinking Light win which replaces the major component which causes the cartridge errors, the NES' trademark game tray.
    The Blinking Light Win conversion replaces the stock tray and 72-pin connector, which can and does fatigue over time, with a fixed tray and new connector which has an amazingly tight grip on your games. Maybe too tight to be honest!
    Installation takes about 10- to 20-minutes and it couldn't be easier. The NES uses traditional phillips-head screws so thankfully you don't need a security bit to get into the casing. While you are inside your NES it would do you some good to take some compressed air and get rid of the dust rabbits that are no-doubt flourishing and multiplying inside your system.
    Why it RoX!
    - You don't need to be a mechanically inclined to install
    - $30 is very reasonable for what it does
    - Built-in Lockout Chip, making your NES Region-Free!
    - You won't wear these pins out!
    What could be improved?
    - Holds the games tightly...too tightly
    - Eliminates the pop up/down loading tray
    Should you buy one?
    Uh, YEAH! Once the conversion has been made you'll be able to play games like normal, just without blowing into cartridges, trying to get the games to catch "just right" inside the pins or otherwise getting it to work. For about $30 it's an amazing conversion and for those who want to go back to stock it's easy to do; but after getting used to your games just working I really wouldn't recommend it.

    My original connector would only work if I DIDN"T push the cartridge down, and I often had to even pull the cart out slightly to get it to work; and that was after trying to bend the pins back into shape because it wouldn't work at all. I tried a replacement connector but it started to get flaky too. I got a Blinking Light Win and it's been 100% reliable ever since! I don't think the grip is too bad either.

      +Greg Dunlap That's weird but I've heard of weirder. I went through like 4 connectors on less than a year, getting more frustrated with each one until I found the Blinking Light Win. It's a permanent fix!

      What I do to take the cartridge out is to use my left index for the cart's left side and for the right side just pull the cart's handle.

      I agree my friend you have bend the pins back to made it work plus the pins needs clean and most frustrating thing is the pins get flat again.

    In regards to getting cartridges in and out with a BLW:
    all NES carts have ridges on the right and left side. All you have to do is put your right and left index fingers on those to spots and pull. The carts come out fairly easy that way.

  • @patrolzero1
    @patrolzero1 Před 4 lety +1

    I heard somewhere that over time using the game genie you cannot play games on the NES without it. I now notice that games have the lines across the screen so I just play games connected to the NES. I'm considering this purchase but I feel like I will ultimately have to play with the game genie in anyway. Have you heard that about the game genie stripping the connector?

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  Před 4 lety +1
