Bro you simplify things, I am going to take your advice and stop taking my German Sherperd for walks unit he can heel and have leash manners.
Before you uploaded this video I was looking for a heel video on your channel couldn't find anything, I watched another Dog Trainer youtuber, I was literally struggling with teaching my dog how to heel cause I am also new to it, I never ever thought a dog how to heel before.
You also make things so fun cause I sometimes get stressed thinking of how I am going to improve my dogs behaviour in certain areas. Cause It's a bit challenging training my dog and studying, working etc but I try my best to balance everything and do the best I can for my dog. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge and bring things into small pieces so a person can understand it easily. Much love champ!

This is so important. I was advertised a GSD breeder who claims that the puppies go home with recall, sits, downs, and place under distractions...at 8 weeks. They really push the "discipline!" angle and it's pretty scary to think they're "disciplining" a literal baby dog into compliance. They say they're "working" GSDs too, yet they've probably been overcorrected for every little thing that their owner will have to spend ages teaching them not to shut down the second they make a mistake.

makes me furious.. We just had a woman delivering some garden stuff from "FINN" (almost the same as craigslist) .She had race/trotting horses and one dog. .. When my young Dutchie at 13 months jumped up on ME - not high - just a little jump.. in excitement.. ONCE .. she told me in a harsh tone: THAT must stop NOW!! ( i almost jumped a metre back.. i have owned and trained dogs since 1990 - espec. GSDs and all of them have been super nice and polite dogs.. but i always give them the time they need. they are all so different.. ) She said: everything my dog knows now - at the age of 9 yrs- was taught and 100% in place before it was 12 weeks.. ??!! WTF?? The same woman was laughing when telling a story about a horse being thrown 3 metres up in the air and landed in a tree when struck and killed by lightening..and just before leaving telling us about how she diciplined a super nervous dog that had been tied to a tree for 4 days . showing him how to shut up by grabbing him and throwing him around by the skin!!!.. just sayin!! When she left i teard up.., knowing there in fact exsist humans like this in the dog and horse industry..

I do that at least 10 times every day. We now do off leash and He dose not let me get out of his sight.
I try to hide on him and he goes racing around the house to find me. Drives him crazy when I try to get away from him.

I can’t tell you how much your videos help me and give me confidence. I saw one of your videos last week where you briefly touched on teaching heel. I started straight away, and my pup looks just like this one, I’m so relieved, because I’m not as co ordinated as you are with the lure, but I’m getting there, and I was worried I was causing the bit of messiness 😬

You have a very kind and logical method to your training. What a gentle and fun way of teaching the puppy that engaging with you is FUN. Also setting puppy up for success to rapidly stack those reps up. I hate to see dogs “obeying” with their tails tucked and mouths tightly closed, afraid to make a mistake and get punishment. This is an awesome and humane way. And it works!!

Don’t feed the dog before training. Feed during trading with the treats as rewards. Make sure the dog is hungry. Start somewhere indoors with no distractions first and don’t ask the dog to come very far. The moment he walks away say his name and show him if he comes you’ve got food. Build up the distance until you can shout him from upstairs and he’ll come running. Once that’s good and consistent, try him outdoors with a long lead and somewhere quiet. The key is to think through the steps you need to get him to recall indoors, quiet place, indoors with distractions, outdoors quiet place then build in distractions and then start to build distance. Everything on this video is pure gold. He’s telling you all the right things but with any training you build distance and distractions up as the command gets stronger. It’s hard to show every stage in quick CZcams videos because you’d lose people’s interest and spend too much time talking - like there’s too much typing in the reply haha 😅

Looking at this video, i am realising that all the puppy courses are wrong! You bring your dog on a leash with many other dogs within 1m distance, while they have not yet learned engagement, while they sre pulling incredible on the leash in order to go play with the other dog, and making learn trics in an incredibly stressful environment for him. I was so stressed at any of those lessons and so was my puppy.

Hey Andy. 3 month old female Belgian Shepherd (Tervuren). We use the crate, tug, hand feeding and do your 5 min eye contact drills. Just wondering what more I can do at this stage, her sit, recall and stay aren’t perfect but she’s still just a baby is this just an age thing or am I not doing enough reps? Going to do more heel work and recall work after seeing this. Also she bites my partner way more than she bites me any ideas? On the ankles especially. Thanks for all the content

Nope that’s good. Let her be a puppy too.
Malinois puppies bite, that’s what they do. I’d separate her and your partner.

Sir, I've been stuck with the goofy videos you mention. Don't hide your style! It's better a hurting truth than a "secret" (that it's a lie).

My dog is 6 months and I've been doing the "wrong walking" since he was 4 months old. Hope I can turn him around 😬
