    We can't trust photographic evidence of ANYTHING anymore. These are so good! As a retired, old-school designer (who taught PS 3.0), you've blown my mind about what can be done now with a few loose strokes and a descriptive vocabulary. I love your teaching style -- clear, concise and quick.

      Love how on instagram every "wannabe influencer" will be in Dubai and drive a Lamborghini soon etc... Instagrams resolution is so low, that you can easily fake a rich lifestyle. Quick tip: You had trouble with the leather jacket mainly because your selection was too tight. If you expand the selection around the subject, you'll get better results for baggy, puffy, or other clothing that is not super tight or form-fitting.

    Like so many people I'm amazed and slightly troubled by this phenomenal advance in Photoshop technology. As ever I'm so thankful to you for your excellent tutorial on this new feature. I've been using Photoshop (and Lightroom) for many years to "tidy up" my images and inevitably the degree by which "tidying up" is defined has grown with the advent of the new technology, especially the AI element . Entering contests and competitions with an image that has been "improved" by for example using Camera Raw filter sliders is one thing but are competitions going to start adding limits in the terms and conditions of entry to weed out entries that have elements of AI generated additions and composites ? I'm sure we've all carefully "cloned out" (or more recently used the remove tool) to lose the odd distracting item (like an overflowing ugly waste bin in a street scene ), but replacing the bin with an artificially created item (like a dog or a car) changes the meaning and feel of the image. Is it "intelligent" to be "artificial" ?

    As a hobbyist photographer, I think this is an amazing way to speed up post production and could possibly reduce the amount of photos taken in the field for easier compositing/blending.
    As with all things AI related, there has to be some level of artistic integrity that we maintain. Passing off a photo that's completely manipulated and calling it authentic might be a low blow to the community that's relatively true to form. When photographers post amazing photos and I pixel peep only to find intentional manipulation that's poorly executed, I lose a little respect for that person's skills in the field.
    Hopefully people who enjoy editing will continue to utilize traditional methods if they haven't mastered the fundamentals. There's so much knowledge to gain by putting in hours of hard work, both on a critical thinking and self awareness level.
    Nonetheless, this is going to be great for making memes, while adding another level of simplicity for those who perpetuate misinformation.

    I tried this over the weekend and to be honest, you can be blown away with the immediate results, but if you look closer on larger files the difference in sharpness of the pixels between the original and the generative fill is vast. It looks blurry and not even part of the same image. If you pull back on these files you can also see this result on things like grass or anything with a broken texture effect. If you do in small areas on small res files it's great. Not sure if they will ramp up the quality in the release, but as far as I am concerned this is a big issue as a commercial tool. I didn't try the actually replacement tool aspects as there si much in teh way if IP issues in AI, so will see how this plays out.

    Amazing tool and a fantastic tutorial to explain it. I've tried it and it is mind blowing. I've had problems though changing the color of an article of clothing on a subject. I selected a t shirt on the subject and typed in a variety of prompts such as red t shirt, or red and a few others and what it does is put a backpack on the subject and it's not even red. I agree though that this tool will change photography design in a big way. Thanks again for this tutorial.

    The fact that PS can do this is nicely programmed but of minor use in the real world cause all the placed items are PS generated images like the dog and cat.
    In the real world you want to e.g. put your own dog or cat in that place or whatever image you have.
    Same with the BG's, you are bound to PS generated BG's
    After playing with this for a while, the fun is soon over.
    And then there are the limitations as you mentioned.
    I'll stick to the old ways where I have total control over my work and the results.

      @@luv2cre82 People will always get bored over time - after trying out a new tech intensively, and those which find this tool important would normally use Photoshop anyway, they will be just more productive. But no fundamentally new situation, nobody should trust data from non verified sources anyway, with or without AI - doesn't matter ...

    • @digitaldjthenewdawn7054
      @digitaldjthenewdawn7054 Před rokem

      What do you mean not so convincingly, talk for yourself. this to me will allow people who have concepts but can't bring them to life. People think you can go to a web design course and design a website. It is not about learning to use software. Design is a skill, and it is about ideas and concepts, now this makes designers who were once restricted becuase they do not have the creation skills. I have to understand everything so I spent alot of time understanding the base operating system software, luckily Mac os is alot more efficient than windows, but I remember people didn't bother and it ended up being them back as they had problems with design software as they didn't setup the is properly etc.
      But it will not be long before ai will be taking the whole design breif as a prompt and then designers are not needed.
      What is the plan for when we are not needed anymore. Surely we need to put restrictions in to make us relevant or do we each have a robot that works for us. It is inevitable that we destroy ourselves progress will not stop for man, so we either join it or die

    I've been working professionally with PS since 1991-92. There have been many "game changing" innovations over the decades such as content aware (among others) however adding this ability to the PS UI pretty much tops everything else. What they are showing here is pure cherry picked spin because in my real world tests the results are certainly far from perfect ( but extremely fun ). Some subjects it works very well and others are a hot mess but considering it's in its infancy 50/50+/- success rate isn't bad at all. The "expand" feature is pretty sweet. In my tests I have taken numerous "portrait" orientations and made them into "landscape"s. It's pretty amazing!
    The one drawback/caveat is that I "heard" is": Adobe will charge for this feature beyond a certain base amount of "credits". For me that's a bona-fied insult to all the (professionals) who made Adobe what it is today. We're already paying a premium to subscribe to CC and now they want to "double tax" us? Adobe has done some pretty questionable and reprehensible things over the decades but (again) this is right up there at the top. I hope this time around enough people will be outraged at the money grab enough to complain and make Adobe include it with their MANDATORY subscriptions. If not I'm sure Midjourney, DAll-E or Stable Diffusion will include this feature in the (very) near future. PS. Midjourney prompts render far superior results than Firefly. Night vs Day

    • @Athari-P

    • @Lensman64
      @Lensman64 Před rokem

      @@Athari-P I've seen those but the SD plugin doesn't look to easy to implement unless they changed it(?) Plus I don't like the output from SD at all. Maybe I'm just spoiled with MJ 😄

    • @Athari-P
      @Athari-P Před rokem +1

      @@Lensman64 SD does require local installation, but it's the price you pay for the actually free tool.
      Midjourney is nice for pure text2image, but it doesn't support image2image afaik so it's useless in the scenarios described in the video.
      Quality of SD varies. Its baseline model is meh, but there many specialized models. SD is all about customization (models with specific style or content), advanced tooling (like getting exact poses), lack of censorship (note how Photoshop didn't like even guns) etc.
      There's no model with quality of Midjourney, tooling of SD, and ease of Firefly yet, sadly.

      @@udaykadam5455 Sorry but you're wrong. The Neural filters also run on the "cloud" and they don't charge extra fees for those.
