Oh my goodness! This is awesome! I've been suffering from frozen shoulder since being hit covering a high school football game over 8 months ago (I'm a professional photographer), I also broke my collar bone. My pain level is medium high and my range of mobility is medium. I did this 'massage' and was able to pull up my pants with very little pain for the first time since my accident. I will definitely continue with this in my exercise routine.

thank you so much kai!! my neck, traps and back of my head is experiencing pain after i messed up my posture from using my cellphone. i'm physically active i play basketball and lift three times a week and was wondering how come that happen to me. at first i thought it was my diet or just migraine due to stress cause of working overtime. so i went to a massage deep tissue see if its the tightness in my hips or back muscle etc.. still didn't work. i was a bout to sched my appointment to a doctor and will ask to recommend me a chiro or check my status if i have diabetes cause its accompanied with migraine symptoms. after i research one morning on this video that stiffness i was feeling from traps to neck and head area was release! i felt it and im having this pain for almost a week now. now i feel great and that stiffness and uncomfortable feeling like something is pulling my muscle through my head down to my neck was at ease ill keep doing this till i recover. thank you so much kai ive been following some of your stretches and conditioning tips and its really helpful may you succed on your profession. pls dont stop sharing this knowledge and might help other people.

Kai, THANK YOU. I have tried everything to do this area. Used tennis balls, and other balls that were hard. Tough area to reach until now......can't wait to try this out. I just purchased a Recovery Deep Tissue Massage roller from Gaiam and even tried something like this exercise. And yes, it certainly works but....this exercise....I cannot wait to try it. Thank you so much for information about an area that is virtually a tight, very sore area that is always a problem, and always hard to get at. Thank YOU!

I just discovered this, but this is exactly what I needed! 11 years of throwing a shot put (and still occassionally trying because I coach/compete once a year) has made my right side HORRIBLY imbalanced! I will definitely be using this and will try to find a lacrosse ball to do this with. I have a foam roller too, but I think the lacrosse ball will really get to it.
Question though: Can I do some of this on the ground and lying down or do I NEED a wall? Thanks!

    Hi Kai,
Great videos. Something that I do to help with the release is I use the Acu-Masseur. It costs more than a lacrosse ball, but I think easier to use instead of maneuvering the ball on the wall.
Also, sometimes when I do use a ball, I put the ball in a sock, which helps it not to slip so much.

Been having some rotator cuff issues after I tore my AC joint in December 2011. Took 9 months to get back to heavy lifting, but really progressed well after getting back to the grind in the gym. However I did something to my shoulder when I went to do preacher curls and ever since (about 2.5 months ago), I have had some pain/sensitivity in, what seems to be, my rotator cuff. I hope this helps!

I need to try this out. I've had a huge lot of trap pain and tension headaches lately and medicine does not help with those in my experience. Foam rolling the upper back and static/dynamic stretch exercises don't seem to really help either when the high point of the trapezius goes FUBAR.

love your videos. I so wish I was close to you, as I know you could help me. I've got chronic muscle imbalance that started with an untreated ruptured hamstring in 2006. I've got constant psoas contraction, which has cause me a plethora of muscle problems, and it's surprising how so few muscle work people are truly familiar with the psoas. Tonight my traps on my right side are so hard, it's literally causing me tears. I'm going to try this release.

A tennis ball works well too, particularly if these points are very tender, since it's softer than a lacrosse ball. On the other hand, if a lacrosse ball doesn't go deep enough, a 45mm high bounce ball gives very deep, penetrating pressure.
