wow you have every color in stock now even the $770 platinum ones for only $400! I might have to get a pair
If one is going to own just one pair of Persol - these are it IMO. Though having a half dozen or so other Persol models - these would be the last I'd give up. Absolutely no issue with the hinge in the 4 or 5 years of owning but like many aficionados it rarely gets worn two days in a row

Cool demo. I picked up the exact ones in Nice, France two months ago. My pair of course are lovely. Although they are a bit crooked. One lens comes in more than another. Sadly, the only other pair of actual SM714 I had to compare where stolen from my place of work. I can feel there is a diff but can’t be sure as to what. Either way, great pair of shades. All the best!
Oh man sorry to hear about that pair getting stolen… if you take them to a eye doctor they should be able to adjust them usually for free to amen them perfectly straight

@@ShadeReview Hey there! Thanks for recommending an optical store helping to straighten out the frames. The tech did it for free and made it better though not perfect, but they wear much better. The tech was shocked to see a pair of 714SM to have such, what he called, a “defect”. Thanks again man.

How often do you have to tighten up the bridge screws? I wear them almost every day and usually have to tighten up the screws every 1-2 weeks. Other than that, they're absolutely perfect.
Is it possible to tighten the screws so they won't fold anymore? I just don't want to fold and unfold all the time.
if you really tighten them hard they will not move haha
Are these the exact same Color frame and lens Steve McQueen wear in The Thomas Crown Affair movie?
Always felt the blue lens he was wearing I the movie was really bright blue.
I’m after one exact same Color as the one in that movie. Love that shade.
I'm fairly certain the TCA are best matched to the 24/56 color code - dark havana w/ crystal blue. Those are non-gradient, non-polarized and are an older discontinued SQ colorway. I have a pair of those as well as a pair of the model in this video. Looking at them side-by-side, the gradient blue does seem to be a bit grayer or greener, the non-gradient more of a pure blue that is more translucent on the whole.

Also if you *happen* to be a 52 I'm thinking about swapping out for another set of the gradients and would gladly offer for a reasonable price... while the blue looks cool, it's more of a 'fashion' lens, very light in color/blockage and I somewhat prefer the gradient look.

I have owned the 714 for over 8 years now and have had any problems but They don’t get used all to much
I’ve just sent them back. Way too small, squeezing my head painfully….as a comparison, the 50-22 Wayfarer Classic fits perfectly.
This sunglasses had squeaking temples and nose piece. The hinge on the left side was very loose. Overall a big disappointment.

Bought the foldable version. Like the glasses but very unhappy with the fact that you have to tighten them after every time worn. Really should not be the case with glasses at this price point. Very hard to clean these polarized lenses.

What makes this pair a special edition? the outer printed in the inside sleeve box?
The folding mechanism is improved over the regular version. Also in my experience the sm edition seem to fit better for some reason but that could just be my face.
@@thetechlibrarian He detailed the difference in another video. The SM have a 1mm wider nose bridge - so it'll sit slightly lower - and the temple stems are thinner.

Well the fold mechanism is a lot better on the sm and they do seem to fit better. I recommend trying them both on back to back to get a feel
@@thetechlibrarian interesting cuz many people complain about folding system on SM,scratchin the lenses n stuff ,personally i prefer to have 1 normal 714 to have the look and a different model of persol for the same price of a SM,but i get the appeal
@@Reza-hy9sw yeah to be honest I don't even really fold them I use a ray bans case because it's a lot easier than folding every time. But it's stiffer so I feel like it offers more protection.also you can lay the lens cloth on the inside of the lens and fold it so it doesn't touch.
