  • Drawing from the bands 21 years’ experience, this album is set to solidify Darkest Hour’s legacy as a metal power house. Raw as all hell, musically complex, melodic, yet cutting with razor blade precision, Darkest Hour’s 9th full length record, "Godless Prophets and the Migrant Flora" is fierce and hungry for blood.

    "Those Who Survived"
    The ones who strayed
The ones who were left behind
This looks like something someone would try to hide
    Those who survived
Are those with blood in their eyes
    Push the pressure
Add more fuel to the fire
Stop submit admit you’ve lost control
Salute as you plummet to your doom
Fall in prepare yourself for the
    Cold calculated chemical embrace
I’ve been waiting and we’ve all been warned
We all knew this day would come
    And yet we ignored
    We’re all going down
    We’re all going to burn
I feel the presence of another
    An ancient one
    Pulling us closer
    The time has come
    Brace yourself for the impact
    From the wreckage we crawled
Broken and bloodied we go on
    We must move forward
We must continue into the beyond
Now all I see is their blood
And all I’ve ever known is gone

the vocals are sick! loving the old school thrashy sound. not many bands can go back to their roots and still kick ass like this

      Their roots are post-hardcore.

Their roots are not at all thrash. That came with lots of At The Gates style riffing, later on.

Niskinatorn Neither The Misanthrope nor The Prophecy Fulfilled are post-hardcore. If that's what you think, though, what do you think bands like Silverstein are?

    • @oonmm
      @oonmm Před 7 lety

+CaptCorleone What genere is it then? I'm pretty sure one would label it post-hardcore.I listened to five songs from Silverstein, and I must say that I have no idea what kind of music that is. It doesn't sound like old Darkest Hour - so I fail to understand why you brought them up. Please explain.

Leaving Sumerian was the best decision this band ever made. I had almost written them off after their self-titled, but these songs have me excited.

They have so far released the songs 'Knife in the Safe Room' and 'Timeless Numbers'and 'Those Who Survived', which have both indicated a return to the band's usual hardcore orientated metalcore sound.

Among the songs released on youtube so far, 'Knife in the Safe Room', 'Timeless Numbers', 'Those Who Survived', 'Another Headless Ruler of the Used' and 'In the Name of Us All' I am playing a hardcore oriented metalcore sound that makes me remember the earliest time the song is the origin of the band, and melodic death metal elements that have been intensifying since the early 2000s are almost hiding. Just like 'The Misanthrope' and A new album that pushed out hardcore tastes that can also be said as the origin return to the early days of 'The Prophecy Fulfilled'. Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE) was a recording engineer and produced last autumn. Melody intrinsic to a complicated musical composition wrapped in low quality sound is an impression that skillfully extracted and refined the essence of DARKEST HOUR and finished to be a culmination of 21 years of career as a culmination.[

I was stoked to hear DH had a new album, but I'm not really sure I dig the mix. The vocals are kind of unpleasant to listen to. I wish I had the vocabulary to describe what I'm hearing.. It sounds.. heavily processed? Compressed? Tinny? Walkie-talkie-like..? Like it's been compressed, maybe too much gain and treble? I've been listening to Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us, because those are the albums I got hooked on years ago. I don't expect this to sound just like that or anything, but the vocals on those albums at least sound like if the dude was standing here performing it would sound like it does on the record. Oh well.

I got the full album from their recent show and the melodeath shows up quite a bit on the second half of the album which makes sense given that it is a concept album and the first half deals heavily with chaos and the second half is the aftermath. Enter Oblivion, The Last of the Monuments and Beneath it Sleeps will probably please you greatly.

I might shit in some people's cereals with this, but I really hope there are at least a bit of cleans on the album... all new tracks are fucking killer, but throughout an entire album this might get a bit boring... S/T was the only DH album I could enjoy in its entirety, and even though it's mainly because of the serious improvement in John's screams, the cleans must've also played an important role in it becoming my fav DH album, so I hope they don't abandon that kinda sound completely.

    • @gwendolinchen
      @gwendolinchen Před 7 lety +1

I also love the self-titled as an album but do have to admit the songs were not that well received during the live shows and probably because of that I had the impression that the band wasn't really comfortable playing the new songs except for "Rapture in exile" maybe. They just seem to be in their element screaming people's faces off ;)

Yeh especially with a fan base like what DH has got. We all know we've come in on different albums. Some from the very start, some from Undoing ruin, some from Eternal return etc etc. They will never be able to keep everyone 100% happy because these albums differ a lot (which i think is fucking sick). You never really know EXACTLY what you're gunna get, but it always comes from kinda the same ideals - metal as fuck + don't make the same record twice.
Glad i invested on this album, what a band. livetothrashthrashtolive

I'm with you on that, S/T has been one of my go to Darkest Hour albums since it came out. The whole album is a masterpiece and every track is a stand out on that record. While I love their original sound, it's obvious to me that the S/T album was them experimenting in a big way and I appreciated that. I still love the sound of these new songs, however i'm not a huge fan of the production on these songs, alot of the sounds are muddy.
