00:46 Amtrak GG1 #4924 (Ex-Pennsylvania #4931) backs onto its train at the Harrisburg station. This unit was renumbered from #924 in June 1979, and all Amtrak GG1’s were retired in April 1980. This establishes the window of possible dates for these scenes.
01:29 A quartet of Amtrak E units backs onto its train. The consist includes E9A #419 (Ex-Union Pacific #914 - The Final E Unit Built!), a unit too filthy for identification, E8A #438 (Ex-Union Pacific #928), and E8A #403 (Ex-PRR #5803).
At Trenton, New Jersy

03:27 An Amtrak work train powered by a GP7or GP9 backs into the station.
03:54 A Conrail freight passes the platform, led by a menagerie of GP38-2 #8110 (Ex-Penn Central same number), U30B #2872 (Ex-NYC/Penn Central same number), GP38AC #7657 (Ex-Lehigh Valley # 311), U30B #2846 (Ex-Penn Central same number), U25B #2512 (Ex-NYC/Penn Central same number), and U33B #2901 (Ex-Penn Central same number).
04:35 Amtrak GG1 #4890 (Ex- PRR/Penn Central same number) pulls a train into the station at Trenton.
04:54 On the Amtrak train back to Harrisburg, we pass a Conrail freight led by SD40 #6334 (Ex-PRR #6081)and SD45 #6119 (Ex-PRR same number.)
05:07 At the former Pennsylvania Juniata Shops in Altoona, PA, we find a number of locomotives. Some are waiting for their turn to handle trains, while others are awaiting sale or scrap.
Among the many locomotives we find are numerous Penn Central and Erie-Lackawanna E units, as well as ALCO RS-series units, and older EMD switchers.
08:40 A Conrail freight passes the “Dead Line” led by GP38-2 #8089 (Ex-Penn Central same number), GP35 #3623 (Ex-Reading #6504), and U33B #2970 (Ex-Penn Central same number)
